Buyer Beware - Eagle Wings Sportswear (Wisconsin Dells)
I would strongly encourage anyone shopping at Eagle Wings Sportswear in Wisconsin Dells to be cautious.
On July 1, 2026, we purchased a sealed Squeezy Dumpling squishy toy as a souvenir for our daughter. On the ride back to our resort, she opened it and immediately commented that it smelled strange. My wife took it from her and discovered it had an overwhelmingly strong chemical odor, similar to gasoline.
After looking into it, we learned that the Squeezy Dumpling had been recalled on June 25, 2026 because it contained excessive levels of benzene, a chemical that can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation and other potential health concerns. Realizing our daughter had been handling a recalled product, we returned to the store the following day to explain the situation and request a refund.
Both employees working at the time acknowledged the strong chemical odor coming from the toy. However, after calling the store owner, we were told that no refund would be issued despite the recall. The only option offered was an exchange for another Squeezy Dumpling--which had the exact same overpowering chemical smell.
I understand that businesses may have a "no refunds" policy. However, in my opinion, that policy should not take precedence over customer safety when a product has been officially recalled and appears to exhibit the very issue identified in the recall. Selling--or refusing to refund--a recalled product raises serious concerns about how customer safety is being prioritized.
I have since reported this incident to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and to the distributor of the Squeezy Dumpling.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend shopping here. There are plenty of locally owned businesses in Wisconsin Dells that value their customers and take product safety seriously. I would encourage visitors to support those businesses instead. read more
