When we woke up, we discovered that the door had never locked and had been unlocked all night. As we were leaving for the day, we called the front desk who said that it would be fixed right away. During the day, we called to confirm it had been fixed, and we were assured that it was. When we returned at the end of the day, however, it was unlocked and had been all day. We went to the office and the person on duty called the owner....who offered us a "gift bag" and 50 dollars off of a multi night stay. When we asked him to compensate us appropriately, he said he would not budge. This was a completely inappropriate response to a serious safety and security issue. The owner knew we had stayed there many times and brought him many customers, but did not care. We will never return to this hotel.

They accommodate pets with a slot of rooms/suites especially suited for families with fur-babies so be sure to book early during the busy / peak season! We were lucky enough to a pet friendly room/mini cottage in the 'Deluxe Queen' room. The space was roomy, comfortable and has a private deck and lounge chairs/ matching ottomans! The room was also equipped with a mini fridge...Keurig coffee maker and pods as well as ample shelves for snacks and your pet's foods/ treats. The only thing that would have been helpful would be a small microwave to warm/ thaw pet foods and maybe make popcorn or heat up coffee/ tea! For added convenience- each and every room and suite has its own numbered parking space close to your room so there's no need to hunt for a space when arriving back to your room after dark! Everyone we spoke to (other guests) agreed that the grounds were amazing! The Koi pond with a waterfall was magical and if you want to feed them - the front desk has bags of Koi food absolutely free of charge! Kids and adults alike will be mesmerized by these beautiful inhabitants of the Japanese inspired fantasy gardens. The staff were well informed and friendly too which only made every minute comfortable and relaxed!! We will return again next season as we feel as though we found a hidden jewel on the Cape!

It was spacious, clean and clearly newly renovated. The bed was comfortable, soft sheets and squishy pillows. Plenty of room (large closet and lots of drawer space) for all of our wedding gear. Small but very functional and up to date bathroom with some decent soap/shampoo, etc. Very well located as we were in Harwich Port, Orleans and Chatham and could easily and quickly get where we needed to go. The main strip of Chatham has a cute little shopping area with some decent coffee.... Only note - the cancellation date for this hotel is a lot of days (I think 15? You can check the website) So if you book this hotel and think you may need to cancel, make sure you cancel way in advance as you will lose your money if you need to cancel closer to the time of arrival.

Upon arrival, we were told that they could not promise specific rooms and when I showed the email, I was completely brushed off. In fact, the lady at the desk turned her head to avoid laughing in my face. There was zero attempt to make this mistake right. The walk way to the room was covered with overgrown bushes that were unavoidable. Additionally, there was food from a previous guest in the fridge. And finally, the straw that broke the camels back, I went to the office to ask for more towels. Not only was I treated poorly, but I was grilled on why I needed additional towels. Asking for extra towels is normal in a hotel. I did address these concerns with the owner, but I was again brushed off. She did offer a discount if we wanted to stay again, but who would want to be treated poorly again? I am sorry but no thanks! I would not recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Cape.

It was a bright & airy room with beautiful sunlight pouring in from the 5 windows on 2 exposures. The Inn is very well maintained. There is an abundance of snacks and drinks available as well. The breakfasts were very good. I especially loved the first course which was yummy fruit. The staff is extremely accommodating and always looking to please the guests. The inn keepers Brian and Charlie are gracious and provide recommendations which were outstanding! We definitely had a great time and look forward to our next stay!

We spent the week here in the Beach House and it was paradise. Our own patio, steps onto the beach with a breathtaking view was just what the doctor ordered. We were greeted warmly and brought to our room upon arrival and were on the beach lounging within minutes. The owner, Peter, was always around working on something! It is super clear he loves what he does and cares deeply about his guests. He gave us some great recommendations for eateries (devils purse brewery being my favorite!) and always was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. Each morning from 8-10 they serve a nice continental breakfast. My husband and I were go each morning, eat and then take a nice long walk on the beach with our coffee. The private beach already has chairs and umbrellas so no need to bring your own, they set them up each morning and take them down each evening. The inn is also within walking distance to many great shops/restaurants. We went to many of them! The kite shop was super cool and we were able to grab souvenirs for the littles back home. After dinner, come back to the inn for a fire on the patio! I very much hope to return here. I am so thankful we found this and splurged for the beach house room! I was immediately impressed when we were checking in and I witnessed the lady at the front desk, Lois, along with the owner of the establishment handle a difficult situation involving another guest. Said situation could have ended much differently, but because of their experience, and professionalism it ended promptly. Additionally, from the moment we checked in they have gone above and beyond to be accommodating. They even brought up a brand new plush/stuffed animal for our toddler! The rooms here are very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The lobby, warm and inviting. The location is convenient (15 minutes from our favorite beach on the Cape, Paine's Creek, and even closer to West Dennis Beach. Lots of stores close by too! I would definitely recommend the Inn at Swan River to even my closest of family and friends.

I've spent a fair amount of career as a director for a market research firm and one of things we would preach is that differentiating on customer experience is key to winning in this age of the customer. Let me tell you, the Chatham inn literally puts on a master class from the moment you arrive. Arrival- I stumble into the lobby through the wrong entrance and the maitre d Lyn greets me by name and says we've been expecting you. (I was so blown away that she new my name, it made me feel so valued) Then when I went back to get my wife, Una met us on the walk path and helped us with our bags. (So nice!) Then Sherri the restaurant manager greeted us as well and let us know our dinner reservations were good to go. Then Lyn and Una both helped us to our beautiful room with the fire place where wine was on ice next to beautiful roses and chocolate that I ordered for my wife. By the time we relaxed we felt like we just arrived to stay with some friends. Literally everyone knew our names. Such awesome check in experience. Then the wife and I hopped out to get dinner, by the time we got back housekeeping had went in and tidied up our room. This was literally the best check in experience I've ever had. Dinner - so the next night I booked the 7 course Valentine's Day tasting. This was absolutely amazzzzingg. While we waiting for dinner, we had a wonderful conversation with Una, then Felix the beverage manner came over recommend some wine with dinner (side note h is so friendly and his wine reccos are spot on. I made a wine selection prior to arrival and he called and recommend a different one which was exactly what I was looking for!!), then Sherri the restaurant manager came over again just to check in with us, and then Kayla came over made sure we were all set as well. This all happened while we waited in the lobby for dinner... amazing. So when we got inside, we were greeted/seated by the owner Jeff (such a nice touch to see the owner working side by side with everyone). Then the waitress team was amazing. Our main waitress was Luz who was awesomeeeee. So thoughtful and friendly. But to be fair so was Elena, and Shawn. Shawn even had some wine sent back to the room for us to enjoy after dinner. Then Chef Isaac did the rounds and greeted all the guest. I could literally go on for days about how amazing my stay was. How this place got anything less than a 5 star review is mind blowing. Hotel needs to let guests know that you have to be a mountain goat to climb the VERY steep almost vertical stairs. Towels felt like sandpaper. Food looked delicious on their website, but was not what we were served. Steak was burned, scallops were fishy and it took an hour and a half to get our food. I think the chef was taking a break. Scrumptious Chef breakfast was not scrumptious. We finally went to the lobby to get our own coffee, and water. And the most egregious thing was, the beach debacle...FYI, the hotel charges $500.00 to rent you chairs, an umbrella and towels. This was not disclosed to us and was refunded. We were so looking forward to our stay....its advertises the Inn as being a 5 star establishment...our experience was something more like a staying at the Marriott. Would NEVER recommend.
