Stop what you're doing, and get to the Old Manse Inn. For our first time in the Cape, we had no idea where to stay. Stellar reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor led us here and did not lead us astray. From the second we pulled in the driveway, we felt at home. Lovely manicured grounds with flowers exploding into bloom from every direction. We were greeted at the front door by Barb, who was so cheery and pleasant. She gave us a tour and led us to our room. Listing the available amenities and "little things" could go on for days, but to summarize a few most memorable ones: we loved the cookies, drinks, and snacks locating within reach of any part of the Inn. For after dinner, there are decanters of port and sherry with biscotti for your pleasure. There are plenty of games, books, and movies tucked throughout the Inn to be used as entertainment as well as beach towels and chairs that you can take to the beach with you. (This was so convenient as we flew in and could not bring our own). Keurigs and mini fridges were placed throughout as well. The yard had croquet set up for you. The property itself is beautiful, and the Inn evokes a gentle sophistication and elegance of yesteryear. The rooms were spacious, appointed with antique furniture, and had sheets that were smooth as butter. Breakfast was a work of art itself. It started with lovely berry parfait and was finished with eggs benedict in a chive hollandaise sauce over hash browns and a bed of greens accompanied by toast. There are other options you can choose from if the menu of the day is not desired, and they are very accommodating to allergies and restrictive diets. I could go on for days, but I will leave it with this: If you have any question on where to stay, stop what you're doing and stay here.

An old sea captain's home, turned into a gorgeous B&B. A gourmet breakfast is served in an elegant dining room lined with the oak paneling and beams that were installed a century ago. The guest rooms and suites are luxurious, with hand inlaid fireplaces, antique armoires, period furnishings, canopied beds, oriental carpets, and handsome marine and landscape paintings throughout the inn. I've been here several times over the years and love every minute of my stay.

We just arrived back from our Mini Moon at the Old Manse Inn. We had such a wonderful stay. The inn is really beautiful and we felt so at home. On our arrival we had a congratulations balloon and some chocolates waiting for us. Such a nice touch. The owners were very approachable and nice. They couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was delicious on both days. Eggs, French toast, fruit..fantastic! Coffee on every floor with cookies. Also port and sherry available in the drawing room. Bottles water also available too. The bed was very comfortable and the room was incredibly clean and pretty. TV was a little small but there is so much to do in cape cod..who needs TV. We had a really lovely stay and will be back.

    One of the delicious breakfasts!

I'd also add that I've never in all my years stayed at such an immaculate inn. The bedding was exceptional and after composing this review I will make my way over to the Sonoma Wool Company website (what Amy does in her spare time-LOL) to order the luxurious wool pillows we were lucky enough to sleep on. Breakfast is a delicious daily treat, which we were fortunate enough to have each morning poolside, amid the gorgeous gardens on the inn's grounds.

The bedroom features an oversized California King bed, a desk and chair, television and lounge chair with ottoman. Beautiful French double doors lead to one of the loveliest features of the room which is a private deck with chairs. The living room has a delightful fireplace, comfortable sofa and another television. There is also a tastefuly done little kitchenette which was stocked with dishes and glassware as well as a mini fridge. And off the living room is the attractive bathroom stocked with toiletries and comfortable robes. Right outside our room was a Flavia coffee and tea maker as well as another refrigerator with complimentary creamer, soda and bottled water. The table in our bedroom also had a complimentary decanter of sherry and two scrumptious chocolate truffles were left on our pillows each evening. Although most of the inn's rooms are in a separate building a few steps away, breakfast is served each morning in the main house and in the company of Harrison, the inn's resident and well behaved Labradoodle. An afternoon sweet treat of cake or cookies is also provided in the main house and there's always a bowl of chocolates if you need a sweet to tide you over. We had the bad luck to not have the inn-keepers, Donna and Byron, in residence during most of our stay as they'd suffered a death in the family and were out of state. However, they'd left clear instruction with their staff about our arrival and we were warmly greeted and welcomed. During our stay, the staff was quick to answer questions about the area and to provide restaurant recommendations. The room itself also contained a lot of information about local attractions and restaurants. The night before our last day we came back to our room to find a complimentary bottle of champagne and note from the innkeepers with their sincere regrets for having been away during our stay. That was a very nice touch and was greatly appreciated. On the down side, we actually didn't think much of the breakfasts as they were largely flavorless and frequently included microwaved bacon. We wondered if the food suffered due to Donna's absence because she was billed as the cook. Both Donna and Byron were back on our last morning and it was Donna who prepared our breakfast that day. The food did improve under her stewardship but we'd still say it compared poorly to other B&B's we've visited. Our room, though lovely, did have some oddities. All the plumbing fixtures were installed backwards so that all handles turned in an atypical direction and the shower pipe was loose which restricted some of the water pressure. The impression was that the work had not been professionally done. In the bedroom, the bed was oddly situated with one side far too close to the wall despite more than ample room on the other side. It made it uncomfortable for the person sleeping on that side to get in and out of bed. Finally, we do have somewhat of a pet peeve with inn-keepers who advertise suites, which should be two separate rooms divided by a door, even though the room does not meet that criteria. In this case, the only separation between the bedroom and living room was a screen. Nevertheless, the inn was quite nice and Donna and Byron were charming hosts who had trained their staff well. Brewster is located mid-Cape and convenient for day trips to Hyannis and Provincetown which makes this a good choice for a place to stay and there are some lovely beaches right by the inn. Overall we enjoyed our stay on Cape Cod very much.

Our unit was a 2bd/2ba, and super duper spacious it was... full amenities, as in washer/dryer, full kitchen, both a breakfast nook and a formal dining table, smart layout to the unit, closets galore, hair dryer...... But our particular given unit, 24 #90D was plastered with impregnated smoke that we all loathed... severely. We kept windows open at all times to push out what could not be pushed out... not in the carpet, the sofa, armchair, or the walls. Bugger. The bathrooms were very wonderful... very clean, fluffy, thick white towels and nice sized....however, in the kitchen, there wasn't even a chopping board or a colander (or even salt/pepper!) for the night that we cooked up our massive seafood fest. Also, the knives in the block were cheap as can be, and about to fall apart, literally.True that the property provided lobster pot and crackers and other unique lobster-getting devices. 2 large flat screen TVs were a nice touch, especially when we watched a few new releases...and there is also a stereo, DVD player, and VCR included. ZIPPO sundries of any sort provided, outside of lame hand soap. Bring your own shampoo, creams, toothpaste, and such. There is a semi-enclosed backyard that can be accessed both from the master suite as well as from the living room space. Nice. 2 grills out there as well as a table and 4 chairs. I read my Brothers Karamazov in the morning with some Dunkin Donuts coffee. Overall, happy with the unit were it not for the smoke, and the fact that truly utilizing that kitchen is a challenge as well as frustrating. Clubhouse in the front has an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna. Very dated indeed....Tennis courts, indoor volleyball, and outdoor pool for later in the summer. If you're in the mind for an 'Anne of Green Gables'-type setting with lush ponds around and equestrian center bordering it.... then this extremely quiet and expansive older property on the green is it for you. PS Super close to the 6A, very near to Orleans, which has great things. Brewster itself is much smaller and has a few galleries and such in its town. Also not too far from historic Chatham and only about 20 mins to the beginning of the CC National Seashore, and about 50 to Provincetown! PPS Strangest occurrence, true story: we were all playing Settlers of Catan, and a gardener came straight up to the side window (he must have not known we were inside the dining room) and took a leak (no exaggeration) with his pants down and all, with his backside to us as we watched, less than 3 feet away from us. Weird and shocking, we started yelling at him to stop, that he can't do that, etc. Considered ratting on him to the management, but didn't.
