Master planners Robert A.M. Stern and Jaquelin T. Robertson organized the town into distinct neighborhoods centered around parks and communal squares, with the goal of recreating the charm and sense of community associated with classic American small towns. One of the community's most popular green spaces is Founders Park, a hub for recreation and local activities. The park features a large athletic field used for soccer, football, and other sports, as well as tennis courts and a playground. Unfortunately, during my visit, the fields had recently been fertilized, and the overwhelming smell of horse manure quickly drove me out of the park. Before leaving, I stopped by my favorite part of Founders Park: the Veterans Memorial. The memorial was initiated by Eagle Scout Simon Sharp, who raised $15,000 for the project and created its original design. Tragically, Simon was diagnosed with leukemia during the effort. He received his Eagle Scout award for the project the day before he passed away from the disease. Volunteers completed the memorial in his honor. Today, the memorial stands as both a tribute to America's veterans and to Simon's service to the community. The park also contains a plaque honoring Simon's contributions, along with another commemorating Revolutionary War patriots. A popular spot for pictures is the large circle on the ground that says Celebration Florida with its founding date, 1994.

Parking is a bit limited, but I was able to get a parking spot as it was not too crowded. There are a few smaller monuments, but the focal point in this park is the monument for the Vietnam War. It is an impressive monument depicting two soldiers. This is a great park to visit and to remember and pay respect to those who fought for our country and for the basic concept that we are born with the right to live a life where we exist in freedom. This is why we must remember those who fought so that we may live free. Orlando Veterans Memorial Park is a great park in Baldwin Park and I would definitely recommend a visit here. I.give it five stars overall.

The park has a walk/jogging/bike path that connects this park to Blue Jacket Park, Harbor Park, and Fleet Peoples Park. On the day I visited there were many people taking advantage of this great opportunity to exercise along picturesque Baldwin Lake. The park is open every day 5 AM to sunset.

He loved it so much, since then it would…read morebe our routine to start our field days at the Casey Jr.'s when we use to have an annual pass at Disneyland. Here in Magic Kingdom, its not a train ride but, a splash pad station. As tourist or a local you should find this place a little useful, being in the humid heat of Florida. Going around Magic Kingdom can be draining and leave you with that sticky feeling. It's located near Goofy's Barnstormer ride and we made two visits here, one in the morning and afternoon. The Casey Jr. Train just stays put and doesn't move at all. Situated on the train are animals that squirt here and there at random. You'll even get sprayed when your back is turned and not knowing where the water sprout came from. So there's some fun factor from it, especially for the kids. My son didn't really find the concept exciting unfortunately, but it does play the Casey Jr. Train theme song in brief moments and he did like that part of it. I did find the misty water effects useful if you like to stand on a certain spot to cool down. Other than that, there isn't much here in this small area.

Some great and very well maintained baseball fields, a swimming pool, tennis courts, walking trails picnic tables, bathrooms, drinking fountains and even a dog park. Really something for everyone. One of the very nice things about the park is all the old trees that offer lots of shade from the blistering Floridian sun. A cool park to do a whole lot of cool things.

It looks like it could use a little sprucing up by the city, however. The pool area is run down and often has chairs haphazardly laying around and the bathrooms can be downright gross. There is no shade around the pool except for one flimsy pop-up shelter that was destroyed in a storm and not replaced. The hot tub is nasty looking and has never been open as long as we've been coming. The pool itself often had a lot of debris in it and would use an overhaul as well. With all the growing Mount Dora is doing it would be nice to see them step it up and take care of their parks a little more. This park has a lot of potential but unfortunately it just isn't there yet.

This property once contained more than 2,000 citrus trees before the City of Orlando purchased the land in the 1970s under Mayor Carl Langford. It officially opened as Turkey Lake Park in 1978 with the mission of conserving land in its natural state for residents as Orlando's tourism industry rapidly expanded. In 1981, many of the remaining orange trees were relocated to make room for a campground featuring RV sites and cabins. The park was renamed Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in 2004 to honor former Orlando Mayor Bill Frederick for his commitment to preserving Orlando's natural spaces. Along with former Mayor Glenda E. Hood, he helped ensure the beauty of this park would be preserved for future generations. Today, the park is the City of Orlando's largest community park. Turkey Lake is considered one of Florida's top rated fishing lakes, making it a popular destination for anglers. Beyond the lake, there are miles of walking and biking trails, shaded picnic areas, playgrounds, fitness stations, sand volleyball courts, a seasonal swimming pool, boat rentals, a dedicated drone flying area, disc golf, and numerous pavilions for gatherings. The campground offers RV sites and cabins for overnight excursions surrounded by nature. Admission is a nominal $5 per vehicle or $2 for a single occupant, making it one of the best recreational values in Orlando. Come for a picnic, to swim, cast a line, visit the rescue animals, or hike the trails as I enjoyed doing. Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake is a reminder that Orlando offers more than just theme parks. I am so glad that the former mayors of Orlando had he foresight to preserve this slice of Florida's natural landscape where you never know what you might discover.

There are several facilities available including pavilions, grills, disc golf volleyball, playgrounds, swimming, fishing, and even a drone course. There's a bike path, a nature path and a small animal farm where you can see a turkey, chickens, and maybe a variety of other animals. There are cabins (assuming for rent) and a spot for small RVs and trailers. The park includes several restrooms which are very clean. The disc golf course is extensive and likely a bit difficult as it meanders through several wooded areas and even one hole across the water. The park has several pavilions varying in size. Most have parking nearby, however several will require you to hoof your goods a little distance. This is a great place for a family or larger gathering. Two dollar entry fee. Dogs allowed on leash and there are several pet sanitary stations.

Many stopping points along the way offer interesting and educational sights to see. Some highlighted and popular animals you may encounter, are monkeys, tigers, hippos, gorillas, zebras, rhinos, and even fish. As an animal lover, I'm really, really torn over the fact that zoos exist. On the one hand, I think…read morethey are great educational opportunities and a fantastic way to protect endangered species through breeding programs and proper care. On the other hand, animals are wild creatures and should be allowed to live their lives roaming free. Thankfully the Pangani Forest trail is one of the "good" places to view and learn about animals. The habitats here are AMAZING, as you'd expect from Disney. They are large, lush, spotlessly clean, and have many places for animal privacy. The trail starts out with a few Colobus monkeys and delves into a place for viewing zebras, meerkats (my favorite), a hippo pool with underwater observation area, a gorgeous bird aviary (with bird spotting field guides that you can borrow on your stroll), a small reptile house (with naked mole rats, a snake, a tortoise, and beetles, all in immaculately clean aquariums), and a phenomenal gorilla habitat (with an observation bridge as well as a glass area) that is a must-see. The trail is thoughtfully designed with a multitude of info boards and signs, all sticking to a cool jungle theme. The informational signs are informative, easy to understand, and fascinating. There are replica hippo skulls, facts about food and lifestyle habits of the animals, and plenty of educational tools. There are nature guides / cast members stationed at each exhibit -- TALK TO THEM. Use their knowledge to LEARN, don't just pound on the glass, whistle at or yell to the animals. No, you rude moron, that gorilla does NOT want to pose for your stupid photo! I had to shush several children and adults during my visit, and I encourage everyone else who witnesses this awful behavior to do the same. When I encountered the meerkat exhibit, there was nary a meerkat in sight -- but there were plenty of loud, yelling, obnoxious adults and kids around. I sat down for a bit to rest my feet and when the crowd cleared out, I approached the viewing area to check out the habitat. Lo and behold, when I was standing there with my husband and talking in hushed whispers, the entire colony of thirteen (!!) meerkats suddenly emerged! We had the great fortune of QUIETLY observing these adorable creatures for about 8 minutes until more loud rednecks came up, ran up to the barrier and started yelling and taking photos. Of course the little guys retreated back into their dens. God, I hate people sometimes.
