The lady ( Jessica ) asked me if I have a membership of which I do not have. Apparently you need a membership to buy their returns.. and membership cost another $30. I told her I said this is ridiculous. I have to be a member and it cost money to do it. What is this? Hermes? ( more like Costco for Campers without good prices ) So I told her I'm not to pay $30 extra for something that was on your return rack. She had the audacity to say I was purchasing something the equivalent of a yard sale item since it had been a return! LOL Whoa. She did go check and see if they had any more but obviously they were sold out so I would never shop here again. It's beyond ridiculous. Plus I didn't even get a bag for my purchase. I have a good mind to return it and tell them to stick it on the return rack for their "members" .

The store had a…read morelot of sale racks, which is nice because Academy has high prices on their regularly priced items. You have to dig through those sale racks. I found the exact same items on the sale racks at very different prices. Luckily, I found a few high quality items for $10 a piece. Score! When the cashier began ringing up my finds, the sale prices were not showing up properly. A very nice and patient cashier got her manager to do some overrides so I did get the advertised sticker price. If you search the sale racks, Academy is worth it, but I do find their regularly priced items to be higher than other places and sites.

This one isn't quit that big, but it is still full of all the name brand items that people are familiar with. They always have some good clearance racks in stock and they always give military discounts which is helpful. Mu first bike came from Sun & Ski, a mountain bike, they offer free labor when you buy your bike there, I believe they still do, it's worth asking about it. The service area is so helpful when I need help with the aging bike. A few times I've brought parts in for some simple help and they didn't even charge me for it. They even helped me find a place online to find parts that they don't carry. They do cycle their stock based on the seasons, ski items do show up in this store, but it's limited and distinct to the winter time. It's a good store and has some good staff.

The cashier admitted to things being misplaced and stickers being put in places they shouldn't be - what was advertised wasn't true and they expected us to do the research for them. My wife has an injury to her thumb that she had a procedure in TODAY and when we told her the price was wrong - she asked my wife to go and take a picture !? She does not work at Atwoods and at that - still had to call a manager to confirm. Which made the experience even worst. ALSO - my cats love the treats from Atwoods, I almost bought 5/6 bags of their favorite treats and they were ALL expired. Every single pack - there was even some that expired in 2025!!! I will not be returning here for anything because now I cannot trust them and they're right around the corner which is terrible. Now I'm thinking how much of the treats did I buy without checking that I fed my cats. I just think it's ridiculous overall. When addressing these issues the manager, Stephanie, asked me if I still wanted to buy the cat treats???? Why in the world would you still sell them is my question. I used to work at a pet store and we would NEVER sell anything expired EVEN if the person wanted a discount. THEN with the dog food she says "I can't honor that because then I'll get in trouble" - why is she a manager if she's incapable of making managerial decisions especially since this was a mistake on their end PLUS the cashier admitting to things being in wrong places and things being incorrectly priced. This store is rated 3 stars and I see why.
