Hampton Inn Martin - Guest room

His daughter had booked a room for us a while back and when I waited in the car I've taken notice that I've been waiting for quite some time. He comes out to the car to tell me that the lady behind the counter was giving him a hard time because of his daughter booking the room for him. Apparently, she had some kind of attitude with him and stated that his daughter had to be there in order to receive the Hampton Inn Awards member discount or something like that. He explained to her that he never had to do this, and it's never been an issue. He doesn't travel often, but in these economic times, every little savings count. As he was explaining this to me, I told him this would be a bad time to see if I could use the bathroom. The way he was describing her, I said I'll just go over to the nearby gas station. I came back from the gas station and waited outside and thought to myself, this must not be good because he's not standing out here with our key cards. He ended up calling his daughter to explain to the receptionist that this has never been an issue up until now. So all of a sudden she changes her tune and says that he can still book a room but it'll be $130. He also told me some young guy approached him and asked if he had a problem and my boyfriend turned to him and said I'm just trying to check into a room like this guy with some kind of enforcer. I don't like to give bad reviews or play the race card, but unfortunately that is what my boyfriend had to deal with being an African American man. So we took our business to Union City and have been greeted with the utmost respectful, kind staff at the place where we stayed. Oh, did I mention that this happened with my sister too? Yeah, she went through the same bullshit as well. Gave my sister attitude for wanting to check into a room and she is also an African American woman herself. Coincidence? You be the judge. I have told my family about this and will tell friends if you're ever in the area don't even bother coming to this Hampton Inn location because apparently people that are of color seems to be frowned upon there.

Honestly they need to throw the entire two mattresses away in the room I was in (220). It was like over used, bouncy, and full of springs. The WORST night sleep I've ever had. It didn't help that the pillows were just as bad. I initially thought about staying a second night when the room was booked but thankfully I decided to head home to my own comfortable bed. I don't like to post negative Yelps but management must do something about their beds!

We had the privilege of staying in the Presidential suite and it didn't disappoint. Every detail has been thought of in this grand room! If you want to entertain there is plenty of room. When entering the suite area there is a separate seating area and large bathroom separate from the room. The suite includes a full size ice machine, small refrigerator, bar, glassware, sink, microwave and large screen TV. The king size bed is so comfortable and overlooks a pretty park with a fountain. The bathroom is huge with a fabulous large bathtub. You can fill your tub full and not run out of hot water. I wish there had been some bubble bath liquid, maybe next time the hotel will provide bubbles? The bar and restaurant was fun and the service was great! We ordered the egg rolls, lobster and bang bang shrimp, large side salad and corn soufflé. Next time we will pass on the corn and bang bang shrimp, not our favorite. Everything was good just not what we were expecting. I would rather have the corn served with the pork chop on the menu because the corn is more like a dressing type dish and it is sweet with cinnamon. The bang bang shrimp was good but not memorable mainly because it was fried and the sauce served on the side. In the beautiful lobby there is a baby grand piano. Having someone playing would have been nice. The hotel is very very clean with free parking!! Everyone was friendly and willing to accommodate with a happy smile. So refreshing to come to a place where you feel relaxed, comfortable and pampered. Thank you for a memorable, affordable Presidential suite $250.00 a night stay, we will return!!

Our waitress Kyra was SO RUDE! She was cussing about our table in the back. When we would ask for something like water she would say "yea when i get a second" and it still would take HOURS! Very sassy and ill-mannered, all in all would not recommend to anyone!!!!

My wife…read moreand I booked, at the last moment, a one night stay to attend an alumni event at the University and after looking at a few online posted pics, figured that the Days Inn by Wyndham Martin would be acceptable. It was not. If the pics posted online were actually of this establishment, they were made many years ago. In short, the facility was dark, dingy, and in a serious state of disrepair. Linens were gray, and floors and furnishing were stained. Parking was almost nonexistent. I'm not sure that even a complete redesign and refurbishment could help this facility and I am surprised that Wyndham could lend its name and reputation to this establishment.

Was up there for my college reunion, and this hotel was not only awful it was dangerous! 1) The chairs had stains all over them. 2) Paint chips and paint peeling everywhere 3) Remote wasn't working, needed an alan wrench to check the battery, TV must of been 10-15 years old! 4) Towels were disgusting, I put a Kleenex on top of one to show you how off color they were, supposed to be white!! 5) The manager was not helpful we asked for towels, (cause they were paper thin) next day still no towels he said he delivered them, which he did to the wrong room! (we spoke to couple of ladies, they said they went out and bought towels). 6) 2 little fridges one wasn't working at all, and the other one was frozen, both sooo old! 7) Phone did not work, we told him, said they couldn't buy just 1 phone, what a joke! 8) 80 degrees out. pool looks like it has been closed forever! 9) The steps WERE SO DANGEROUS, be careful most have cracks, the one I took a picture of was cracked and raised, and believe me its a matter of time that someone will trip and will get very hurt, so please be aware its pathetic, take a look at the picture. I really don't like to write negative reviews, but I wish I would of known as we would of never of stayed here, a tent outside would of been better! I blame Wyndham for obviously not caring enough about one of their properties, to make them make the necessary changes. The trip was great seeing all of my college friends, the worst part of the trip was staying at this hotel! The experience sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pictures they posted are the first few rows, probably taken when the place first opened, believe me doesn't look like that now! I always give people a second chance, but until they do something to improve that place would definitely not stay there! By the way was a $149 a night yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks very small from the street and maybe only have 8-9 rooms I think. It was very easy to check in and the lady was very nice. There is covered parking right in front of your room door. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside. It had a spacious living room area with a tv sofa coffee table and large chair, along with a kitchen, full size fridge, microwave, sink, actual dishes, coffee maker, a dining room table that seated 4 people. The king size bed was in this room. There was a small bathroom in the hall. There was a door that led to the other bedroom in the suite that had its own tv, a queen size bed, and then a huge bathroom. The shower was a walk in shower and was about as big as the other bathroom in the hall! The beds were very comfortable (I kinda wish I had that mattress at home) and the rooms were very clean. It felt like we were at a home away from home. Bonus was that they are pet friendly! There was some wear and tear in a few places. There was a little paint peeled off in the queen bedroom at the baseboard and the tile on the kitchen counter was cracked pretty good. It was nothing that was really noticeable if you weren't OCD lol. The checkout process was easy....just leave the keys on the table. We will definitely be staying here again if our family reunion is in KY again next year!
