Kim, the owner, was really nice and you can tell is so proud of this place. I'm so glad it's a fitness option in Assembly! Everything about the experience is so thoughtfully laid out - from the clean space, supremely organized props room, to the accessible sanitizing supplies. Believe me - an experience is about every touch point of your visit - even the sanitizing! My first instructor, Anahi, was great and the class was both challenging and zen - which is my favorite yoga combo. The energy of a class is 100% set by the instructor so she was fantastic, and set the tone on optional adjustments in poses given some previous injuries. Looking forward to trying a few more classes in my trial - they offer a $36 (?) 3-class trial within 7 days so it's a great way to check out a few different classes to see if it's for you or not.

Here is why I won't be going back to the studio - it was raining when I walked in, put my umbrella in the yoga mat bag, then shoes in shoe cubby then coat in top. Told front desk lady (who again could not be any less interested). Walked out of the class and some member moved everything to the other cubby zone - THIS UNACCEPTABLE! No one told me, no one stopped her. Why is someone touching my stuff and making a decision on where to move thing, when I specifically told front desk lady (who said nothing) that's that's where my stuff will be as otherwise I will likely forget the umbrella (that's why I put it in the yoga mat bag). No one asked for permission this other lady attending the class just made a decision to move without asking without announcing. I was asking where my stuff is when I walked out of the class, front desk lady had no idea. Again completely unacceptable - no one touches someone else's stuff without announcement or permission to do so! Especially post covid!

Only annoyance is the bathroom is down a hallway around the back of the studio, it's a bit weird. Hand sanitizer pumps in the studio would be helpful. They make you take shoes off in the foyer, which is a tad annoying but does keep the place nice and clean. Water cooler to fill bottles. Staff is really sweet. The mom and baby classes are excellent - there's yoga on Tuesdays and barre on Thursdays and the instructors are terrific. Very relaxed classes, no big deal if baby cries or you need to nurse, etc. They also have special classes and series regularly, which is nice. Very accessible on the 92 or 93 bus line (runs downtown - Haymarket to financial district - to/from Charlestown). Not the cheapest - $20 for a drop-in. But I think it's worth it.

Whether…read moreyou are looking to lose a few pounds, dance your butt off, have fun, or make new friends this place is all of that and more. Each instructor brings a different flavor to the party! Zumba classes are offered every day and at a variety of times, so if you have a busy work/life schedule there is usually still a class for you! The studio offers a variety of other classes/fitness programs as well, including Pilates Reformer and Bootcamp. STRONG by Zumba is the newest workout class introduced to the studio in July 2016. This is a new format by the ZUMBA brand combines high intensity interval training with the science of Synced Music Motivation. Nicole and Patricia (family studio owners) became instructors for this format and began teaching in a brief time period to follow. If dance is not for you, this program is an incredible way to get a great workout in. Nicole and Patricia have done a fabulous job executing this program and ensuring the well being and safety of each student is intact, all while providing a fun filled energetic workout. The Zumba Fitness classes offered at Latin Beat are not only a blast, but will kick your butt! As I mentioned above, each instructor brings something really dynamic to the group. Patricia (owner) and a Zumba Jammer, will energize you with her passion and spirit. The amount of knowledge this amazing woman has on health and fitness is remarkable. I've learned so much from being both her student and a fellow ZIN (Zumba instructor). Patricia is someone who truly invests in her students and wants them to be the best they can be. Nelson (owner) will make you feel like you are always on fire! His classes are full of energy, but also allow you to truly unwind at the end of a long day or week. Nelson is one of the funniest people I have ever met. His patience and compassion for his students is a huge reason why I became a regular at Latin Beat. Nicole, she may be young, but that does not stop her from igniting the room with her energy and natural skill for teaching fitness. Her classes are a blast and her passion towards her students is heartwarming. Nicole 's humble and enthusiastic attitude make her an inspirational instructor. Suzette, is a powerhouse of energy and inspiration. She will work every muscle during a class (especially your legs #squatsfordays) and has created a very welcoming and thrilling environment to work out in. Her music and routines are creative and easy to follow along with. Did I mention this girl also runs 1/2 marathons and competes in Crossfit as well?! AMAZING. Orisa, I don't know if there are words to describe her. Another crazy ball of energy. Although you may end up running around the studio most of this class, you are guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face and painful abdominals from laughing so much. (I owe my six pack to her) Whether she is teaching or a participant, this wonderful woman makes an effort to make everyone feel so welcomed and loved! Marie, is the newest instructor to Latin Beat. Although I have not had the opportunity to take her class yet since I work, I have had the pleasure of dancing beside her in many Zumba Classes and can tell you this girl is awesome! If only I had her incredible rhythm. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STUDIO! It's affordable! It's fun! And you may even walk away with life long friends like I have. I'm very thankful for this studio and the people that run it! Check them out! http://www.latinbeatstudio.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=latin%20beat%20fitness%20studio

So recently I've been looking to get back into martial arts. I found Oom Yung Doe on Yelp because of its great reviews and its proximity to my house. I'd never heard of this form of martial arts, but the website claimed I could take a complimentary introductory lesson. Why not? I called on Sunday afternoon and was signed up for a free class the next day at 8 PM. That was quick. Not knowing what to expect, I showed up to the small studio in workout clothes, looking very out of place among the robe-clad martial artists. I signed a liability waiver and was led into the practice room by the instructor, John. There were a few people practicing individually in the room with wooden swords and fans. I had no idea what they were doing, but they sure looked cool! Where were the other students in this introductory class though? John starts by explaining the many benefits of practicing Oom Yung Doe. It focuses on connecting the mind and the body. He used to have asthma and back pain, and now they're gone. It improves your strength, flexibility, and focus. With regular practice, people start excelling in other parts of their lives as well (high GPA,s promotions, the works). Sounds great! Turns out I'm the only one in the class. Unexpected, to say the least. And pretty intimidating. But John was very supportive and great as leading and explaining each movement. We started out with some breathing excercises, then moved to some strength and flexibility movements, punches and kicks, holding positions, and finished with some self defense training. At the end, he did two full forms, a beginner and a dragon form, to demonstrate what you will work toward. He's been practicing for 7 years so is very committed and pretty incredible at it. The entire lesson took almost an hour, and it was completely free. The individual attention and professionalism was so impressive. From experiencing this class, I'm wondering if this form of martial arts is for me. I'm definitely lacking some of the strength, focus, and flexibility required, but I'm sure those are all things you work toward. I'm also not sure I'd be able to work it into my schedule, as John told me that they encourage people to come at least 3 times a week in order to improve. The introductory month is $150, which includes 3 private lessons and unlimited classes at the studio afterward. I liked seeing the space, learning more about the practice, and witnessing the personal connections the instructor has with the others practicing. It seems like a great environment to try something new and improve your physical and emotional well-being. I very much enjoyed the introduction and encourage anyone to try it out. What do you have to lose? (Except maybe your dignity.. if you care about looking like an idiot as you tremble trying to hold difficult positions or unsuccessfully fend off a fake attacker.)

A Life-Changing Dance Journey with Amy Baker…read more My girlfriend and I started our ballroom dance journey with Amy Baker at Super Shag Dance Studio in Charlestown, Mass., as a Christmas gift--a small package of five initial lessons. Honestly, we went in thinking it would be a fun, temporary activity, but we were completely wrong! We enjoyed those first few classes so much that we immediately signed up for more. Now, three years later, we are still going strong with our weekly lessons, and we couldn't be happier. Amy is the heart of our continued passion for dance. She is incredibly energetic, always bringing a genuine happiness and positive vibe into the studio that is truly infectious. More importantly, she is exceptionally kind and patient. Whether we are struggling to nail a new step or just having an off day, Amy approaches every moment with encouragement and clear, patient instruction. Our weekly lesson with Amy is now a highlight we look forward to every week. We've not only gained confidence on the dance floor but have also found a wonderful person who genuinely cares. This isn't just our opinion, either; I've personally referred several wedding couples to her, and every single one has come back raving about the exact same qualities: her energy, kindness, and patience. I can easily say that Amy is not just our phenomenal dance teacher, but she has become a dear friend. If you are considering ballroom dancing, whether as a gift or a serious new hobby, look no further than Amy Baker--she's the best!
