Simply the best bakery in town. It is famous for its Apple Cake and Lemon Meringue. I personally…read morenot a big fan of raisins in apple cakes or pies. Thus, I have not tried Koekel's Apple Cake. Nevertheless, their Lemon Meringue is probably the best one I have ever had in my entire life. Better than any pie places I've been in the States or Europe. They also bake delicious cookies and bars. I don't particularly find Dutch desserts and bakeries to be that great. When I first moved to Holland, everyone told me to check out Doedok for their cakes. I went and I was very much disappointed. Then, a friend of mine took me to Keokela and my life in Holland changed for the better. The store smells heavenly. I sometimes wish I could live at the apartment right above Keokela and had the air ventilation go through the apartment. summary: € = affordable and cheaper than most places, worth every single cent clean and the smell of bake goods make me want to stay there all day. A must-go.

a cute little bakery with an assortment of coffees and baked goods ranging from brownies, cookies,…read morecakes and pies. we ordered the nut pie which is pretty much a pecan pie with some other various nuts, and a fudge brownie. the pecan pie was delicious but a bit too sweet for my liking. we also got the fudge brownie which was a bit too rich. it was still enjoyable but definitely requires some coffee or tea to go along with the sweetness of the desserts.

it's just ok. and it would have gotten more stars except for this hideous 'smashbrowns' idea,…read morewhich should have remained an idea. Dear Americans, these are not at all the hashbrown that we long for (which are more like a rosti if we want to translate) - these are awful little patties of mashed potatoes, lightly fried and covered with some ghastly mayonnaise-based frite saus. please don't order them. you'll be as sad as I was.

I first saw By Jarmusch on an Instagram post and became intrigued. In the picture, the décor was…read morevery bright and open and seemed like it was inviting me in. I was also interested because this place supposedly served American style breakfast/brunch all day. As I really miss brunch, I knew I had to check it out. I went this past Sunday and the bright welcoming feel was definitely there. But so was a long American brunch style wait. The place was packed! But we didn't mind the wait and were seated about 20 minutes after arriving. The food that we saw coming from the kitchen looked good. Big fluffy pancakes, eggs and bacon and all sorts of breakfast delights. I didn't order that though. Nope, I thought I'd order a Philly cheesesteak in Rotterdam. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a Philly cheesesteak. It was a nice beefy sandwich. Next time I'll likely stick to traditional breakfast type food as it did look good coming out. Oh, the steak and eggs were good! Service was a bit slow, but they were packed as I previously mentioned. I'll definitely go back again and order something different at a not so busy time.
