Often overlooked by pleasure-seekers en-route to Rhyl's noisy amusement arcades, Dyserth is a lovely and tranquil little place, blessed with a couple of fine pubs, a highly picturesque church and churchyard (check out some of the most unusual tombs and memorials), a good-value cafe with outdoor seating (although presently, as of 2008, the business is up for sale) boasting, for 30p, admission to invigorating views of the beautiful high waterfall which cascades down into a circular pool below. Take the steep steps up through the man-made gorge on the left, and make your way up to the higher ridge for rewarding panoramic views to the coast. If you're nimble on your feet (and incredibly safety-conscious) nip over the wall to take a look further upstream, where you'll find some impressive caves on the left-hand bank. Free, but limited, car-parking is available right next to the church, where you'll also find the public toilets. Don't just drive by the place, stop and take a look. read more
