To be fair, I had one service call with Oregon Sprinkler in the fall that was very good, so that is why I gave them two stars instead of one. I suspect that the technician on my recent service wasn't as experienced as the first service. I requested a service call in August to investigate and repair a leak I had in my irrigation system in one of the backyard stations. The technician could not find a leak but suggested changing out a couple of heads and valves. After a bill of $475, the leak persisted the next day. I reached out to Oregon Sprinkler to see if they provided leak detection services; they said they didn't but recommended American Leak Detection. I had American Leak Detection come out at a minimum cost of $395. The technician for American Leak Detection found the problem in 30 seconds by opening up the valve box in the backyard, and he could hear that two of the valves weren't closing properly. Fortunately, he only charged me $250 for the service call. I then reached back out to Oregon Sprinkler because it was obvious their technician didn't bother to open the valve box, which, to me, seems like it should have been the first thing he did when investigating the leak. Their standard response was that they don't guarantee finding a leak. They offered me a small discount on replacing the valves. I was out of pocket $250 to American Leak Detection and about another $150 for unnecessary work by Oregon Sprinkler. I asked if investigating the valves wasn't part of their normal procedures when looking for leaks, and they didn't respond to me. I allowed them to do the right thing by at least discounting the valve replacements by the $250 I paid to American Leak Detection to come out when it wasn't necessary, but they refused.
