I felt bad for the two ladies working at Magnolia on the day that we stopped by. They seemed…read moredesperate for customers and leeched onto my mom and I the second we opened the door. In the first room of the shop we were schooled on the sale items in the store. One of the ladies gave us a run down of "This section is 30% off, this section is 50%, etc." for at least five minutes before letting us roam the shop freely. We did check out the sale section but found mostly Christmas items and some strange purses. The first room features gifty items, cards, and soaps. The second room of the store features clothing, jewelry, and shoes. Most of the clothing was geared towards older woman but that didn't stop the sales lady from trying to sell me on a hideous sundress that came in one-size-fits-all and is constructed so that it can be easily cut to the perfect length, no hemming required. Um, no thanks. My mom, though, was pleased to see that they carry the Oprah featured "Not your Daughter's Jeans" denim. The jeans apparently are miracle workers and squeeze and lift to perfection. Unfortunately for my mom, Magnolia didn't carry the petite sized denim so she was unable to buy any. We got a little more than annoyed with the over eager sales ladies and actually had to fake a phone call to get out of the store without making any purchases. Yikes!

Ross is a discount chain similar to TJMaxx or Marshalls. I had been to Ross locations in Colorado…read moreand Texas and felt based upon that, this chain was far better than those competitors. I was excited to see the chain was finally making its way into the midwest! Upon entering here I was surprised at how big it was. I was also surprised at how sparse the stock was in comparison to the store size. It felt like while things were spread out, but that they could fit 2x more stuff. There is a shoe section, purses, luggage, womens, mens, juniors, plus size, kid/baby, home goods, seasonal, and a jewelry counter. The place was clean and organized. The staff was amicable. I was in and out quite quick as there wasn't too much to browse through. Since this is a newer location, hopefully they will be better stocked in the future!

As a large girl, clothing shops are quite limited and shops seem to offer clothes directed towared the older adult. Torrid offers clothes that are fashonable and cut to fit in today's style. They have everything from casual to business. They also sell intimates and accessories. I particularly love their bottoms, especially Torrid's denim collections. Their pants fall appropriately at the waist, unlike other stores that offer only mom jeans for plus sizes. The shorts are of a stylish length, giving you more options than the bermuda shorts that seem to be the only option at other plus stores. In general, I can walk into Torrid and find the same styles that I would find at a skinny girl shop. These clothes fall great against my curves and their style options are flattering to my body. Oh yeah, they also sell swimwear. More than just the one peice, brief cut that you see at other plus size shops, Torrid has everything from tankinis to swimshorts. Love you Torrid.
