Eventually, I decided it was better to get it over with than continue having issues every few months. I called to set up an appointment with Dr. Mauro (I found him through my insurance) and the lady who answered the phone seemed nice enough. I though it was weird that she wanted to schedule me for my consultation and surgery back to back but I went with it. She had an opening that same week and a couple more in the following weeks. I was still nervous so I put it off about 2 weeks. FF Day of appointment, I get there and realize they have a dog in the office which threw me completely off. The front desk staff seemed pretty nice and got me all set up with papers. I asked if they had gotten any records from my dentist and they said no... I thought that was weird but I don't know if it's even necessary. I was called back to do my panoramic x-Ray and was immediately whisked away into a room to be prepared for surgery. Now, I had done my research on Dr. Mauro and knew that he had been called "rude" and "abrasive" so I was prepared to kind of proceed with caution. I was really nervous and I know I can get on Drs nerves with all of my questions. He came into the room to go over the x-Ray and explained that I only had 2 wisdoms on the bottom (I knew that and thank goodness) and that they were bone impacted (did not know that). I asked how long he thought It would take to get them out and he said 20min total but that he would have to drill some bone. He also explained that one was sitting right on a nerve and my chance for nerve damage was 15%. I told him I wanted lidocaine only but that I get nervous with it (makes my heart race) and he offered something called carbocain which is apparently lidocaine without the epinephrine. I declined (didn't want to try something new on such a scary day). He put me in the next room and put some numbing gel on my gums and gave me the lidocaine shots - kind of abrasively. My dentist is very gentle with this part so that was a little scary for me. I asked to listen to headphones, he said of course. He went right in and did his thing and had both teeth out in under 10 minutes. It was SO easy and pain free. By the time the lidocaine started wearing off, I could feel a stitch poking me and so when the office called to check on me, I told her and she had me come back up there so they could fix it. No problem. In conclusion, I will say that he isn't the most gentle, sympathetic, or personable guy, but he did a damn good job. He did tell me as he was finishing up that I don't have any sockets, he's stitching them up so I wouldn't have to worry about dry socket... I looked it up and it says you could still get dry sockets with stitches so I don't know... I had this procedure done about 19 hours ago and am ok. Ice on 20 min, Ice off 20 min. I'm only taking regular Tylenol for pain (my choice). I'm also taking amoxicillin to prevent infection (normally I wouldn't but again, get have a dog in the office)... So far so good but the procedure itself was a breeze!!

I'm eighty-one years. needless to say, this wasn't my first rodeo having teeth extracted. He didn't make sure I was painless before he started extracting tooth 31. Worse pain I have ever felt with my last previous dentists. It was barely numb before the pliers went to work. It all ended with with a dry socket (you don't want one of these.) Ended up going back to my dentist of 20 years, where he had to rebleed the socket and pack it. After two weeks, It is now finally healed. incendently, I followed their post-operative instructions to the letter. I will not go back to this outfit.

He abruptly interrupted me and told me to continue my exams ONLY with my original dentist. He ran out scurrying into a locked side room. I was dumbfounded by this egotistical and cowardly behaviour. His ego was so shattered and his assistant was standing there in shock; she was getting my x-rays transferred from dentist office. The office would not let me have any paperwork except a refund receipt. Squirted oral antibiotic on the tooth and sent him home. We had to get a prescription from our regular dentist, which took time. He wound up contracting septic shock and was hospitalized. This man never checked on him, never followed up. The oral surgeon who finally came to the hospital and took out the tooth said that, until the tooth was removed, the abcess couldn't be cured.

This review is based on a 3pm follow up appointment for my daughter from a tooth removal the…read moreprevious week. I wasn't at that appointment, so I can't review that one. We arrived 5 minutes early and checked in at the window. We sat in the waiting room for about an hour before I went up to ask questions. I realize delays happen in a medical office and me harassing them isn't going to get us called back sooner, but I was at my breaking point. Apparently there was some emergency surgery causing the delay. Like I said, the delay is not what is upsetting. It's the lack of communication. They could have called before we arrived and notified us they were running behind, or let us know when we checked in or at any point while we sat there waiting and apologized or offered to reschedule, but apparently none of the 4-5 women working in the reception office could be bothered to do such a simple and polite thing. The appointment itself took literally 2 minutes. What a waste of time. I should bill them, because you know they would have billed us if we didn't show.
