When I turned 21 (2005), this place was the perfect place to grab a drink. The purple staple of SE Portland. They had a killer drink special. $2 shot of Jim beam $2.50 Jack n coke $1.50 pints of Pabst 50 cent games of pool And strippers. Recently stopped back in. 20 years later. The building is still purple. The drink special gone, I blame the economy. But they still got good drinks. They still got a pool table. They got the usual video poker machines. They still got strippers. They have new ownership, and they are making improvements. The bartender was on point, serving up drinks and breaking 20's into singles. The dancers are actually great performers and not just shoe clappers doing the bare minimum for the set. Still a 10/10 and worth stopping in. read more

I've a big fan of DV8 for a few years now and usually have no issues, especially with spending money there. My past couple visits however have not been the best. I felt ignored at the bar when trying to order drinks when Layla is bartending. When she does finally acknowledge me, I can't help but pick up on what feels like passive aggression, and seems to have a bit of a bad attitude whenever I want to pay for multiple drinks (for the dancers). I've never been conscious of who is on the schedule before, but with this becoming a repeat pattern I'm going to start avoiding shifts she is on. Kind of a bummer. I went Saturday. Haven't been there in a while and the specific reason I haven't been in there in a while materialized again I bought a dancer expensive shot of tequila. She couldn't get her butt off the chair to come over and say thanks or how my night was going or anything her butt was firmly planted at the bar, I thought that was rude that I get the bill and find out the shot of tequila was $14 so it wasn't the cheaper end of the tequila. Apparently it was the house top shelf. It was a little bold of the bartender to tour the more expensive tequila, I won't be returning, and somebody made comment that most the girls in there look like anorexic which I can see why. read more

TL;DR- 3.5 stars, kinda dirty, somewhat dramatic, small strip club. Out of all the strip clubs in Portland, I chose to visit DV8 for my birthday and first time visiting the city. Entry: I went to DV8 on a Friday at 8:30pm. Pretty easy to find as it's right off highway 26. Parking lot is small and tight. Arrive earlier for a better chance of parking. Security was polite and showed us in. After a maze of doors and halls, you enter the main room. Signs posted everywhere state "one drink minimum". Layout: First into the main room, to your left is the pool table. To the right is the bar and stages. One larger stage with about 12 seats and one smaller stage with about 8. Behind the smaller stage is the private dance booths, DJ, and ATM. Overall the establishment felt dirty & dingy. Music: Music was mixed genres, electronic, rock, rap. Good volume level. The DJ wasn't anything, and only spoke on the mic to announce dancers on standby. The girls: As the night went on, many girls came and went. A majority of them were skinny, white, and younger. Only one dancer of color. My personal favorite is Peach. Overall the pole dancing skill is low, most of the time is spent crawling on the table surface around the stage. There were a few exceptions. The experience: mostly good. Although I felt somewhat gross by the kinda rundown building, I enjoyed myself. HOWEVER, there were two exceptions. First, I guess there's some unwritten rule that if you watch a girl on stage, you're obligated to throw money on the stage, and if you don't, you get called out. This is the only strip club I've ever been to that enacts this. So, I have to keep my head down if I don't want to pay $2? Sure. Second, the first girl to call me out, "Izzy", became so pissed that i watched without paying that she made a whole scene. She came to my table, called me broke, sat on my table and spilled my expensive drink all over me, and broke the glass it was in. She stood back up, said "oops, I'm soooo sorry." Then stormed off. What a b¡tch. On the other hand, the bartender "mercedes" was a total blessing. She came and cleaned the mess, swept up the glass, apologized for Izzy's actions, took the drink off the bill, and exchanged my cash to $1 bills twice. I didn't let this drama get to me though. I gave her a very good tip. Mercedes and Peach made my night, and birthday in Portland a good one. Overall the current 3.5 stars seems like a fair rating. read more

Not only was she hot and really nice, i swear she knew like every customer name and what they were drinking, i liked that.., A few dancers at dv8 told me the new manager is why Dv8 sucks now.. it's a shame that place used to be kool.. I heard it's under new owners now and like idiots they fired the awesome kool bartender i think her name was like Ferrari or Mercedes or something like that.. it's not what it used to be anymore. I used to love this place. Lately there's been a lot of bartender turnover and just recently, I had almost a full beer taken away by one of the busboys. When I mentioned it to the bartender, she basically said tough luck do you want to buy another beer. In the old days, Andy would have said let me give you one on the house. I love this club. It's low key. The girls are real bodies and beautiful. The food is AMAZING!!!! $11 for a rib eye steak, salad, baked potato and garlic bread. We come here for just dinner sometimes. Plus they have Guinness which is a big deal to me. Nice parking lot also. read more

Honestly I love a good beer and steak and will go anywhere for one. Coincidentally I pass by this place so often and wouldn't normally go inside, because strip club! But everyone was super nice and respectful, it wasn't crazy rowdy but granted I did go during 5PM. Came here to grab some beer with a friend and got roped into this amazing $11.00 ribeye steak deal! Like what?! I ordered mine medium rare (because how else should you eat it?) it comes with a salad (so many dressing options!) and a mashed potato (I subbed my potatoes for Mac and cheese it's an extra $1). Meat came out on a sizzling platter and it's GINORMOUS! I had to blink twice! The meat was super tender and didn't have too much fat, it was also cooked perfectly! I don't think I've found a better deal and left so full. Hats off to Bartender! I didn't catch the gentlemans name but he was whimsical and had great suggestions, we all laughed a lot. She decided to let me know that girls will be bitches if I don't tip because I'm a girl. Because IM a girl I'm supposed to tip because I'm real far away looking. Should I have looked at the wall? When in Sunday night to get nachos and a cider as I've done 3x in the last month because I live in the neighborhood. I never cause any trouble, am always friendly, and always tip at least 30%. She told me they're not in the menu and I can't order them. I said but they're on all the websites and I've ordered them 3x in the last month and nobody ever gives me problems. She said no, I'm they're not, was really rude and acted like I was killing dolphins for even asking. If this review was only about the bar, it would be three stars and if it was solely about the "talent" it would be one - and so we arrive at the tenuous two-star review. Dv8 is one of my neighborhood bars, so I've been there quite a few times, and every time I leave I vow not to go back. Yet for some reason or other I find myself back at the very same rack... The bar isn't bad with friendly bartenders and great happy hour deals. They've got a pool table, video crack and a few flat-screens usually showing some kind of sporting event. The décor and vibe in this place just really weird me out and I can't quite figure out why - could be because it's almost always pretty empty? Then we move on to the dancers . These ladies are some of the worst entertainers I've encountered in Portland. They have all been fairly attractive, but there is always some other factor that completely detracts from enjoying the show. On one recent visit dancer #1 complained her entire set about how tired she was from working a double shift. Dancer #2 didn't dance at all. Not a shimmy. Not a shake. Not even a little wiggle. She literally stood there and ran her mouth talking about crap I really didn't care to know about for three full songs. Dancer #3 was normal for one set, then came back so obviously out of her mind (I'm guessing on heroin) she was practically incoherent and inching down the rack at a caterpillars pace. They need a new bartender who isn't rude. I'm sure this place would do so much better with just friendly staff. The door guy was great ! Well my friend and I rode our bikes there after having some beers. Wait... after having some beers then getting a ride home from Devil's Point. Actually, my friend and I rode our bikes to DV8 after drinking a couple pitchers at Devil's Point, coming home and drinking more, then attempting to walk to Sassy's; when it occurred to me that we should just ride bikes back to Devil's Point. Sounded easy enough: borrow some bikes from the roomates while not telling them that the last time I was on one was when I was 12 and that I had drank an unknown/unsafe amount of beer. So we embarked, Lando at the lead. It was half way to Devil's Point when we stopped to shotgun and beer, and that's when we spotted her: DV8. I had seen this place before but had never been inside. Its kinda divey looking from the outside and its across the street from a T. Bell. Go figure. So we parked, chained up and went in... we were the only f-ing people in the place besides the door-guy, one bartender and the one stripper on stage. Honestly I can vaguely remember the inside (I was wasted). I do remember that we left promptly. There was no way my friend and I were going to be the only people in there getting hounded to tip. I mean the atmosphere just looked shitty and I think it was a Thursday night. So if you are in the area and you get that urge...Devil's Point. Look for Cricket... she's pretty hot.... So I now classify strip clubs into two categories. Category 1- lap dance focused and designed for guys. Category 2- stage show focused and designed for all types. As a married guy who was never a real lap dance guy (goo-phobic) I really tend to prefer type 2. They let me see what I want, drink what I want, and generally offer less constant 'want a dance?' stuff. This place falls mostly into the first type of club in that their dancers seem to be more lap dance and less pole dance focused. That said there was not the usual obsession with asking if I wanted a dance. And the food smelled great, although I didn't eat any. I guess I am saying that if you prefer category 1 clubs then I think that this is a really nice one, but I prefer the other category. read more

Pretty blah for a saturday night. The dancers we fatter(for lack of better words) and less good looking than what I'm used to, which would be fine if they were more enthusiastic. No smiles, heel clapping, ass slapping or fun tricks. Granted I was only there for 20 minutes, so i may have caught a lame bunch. The bathrooms, however, were the cleanest I've ever seen in a strip club with really cool tilework. Plus I got to see a girl come out, dragging a 3ft piece of toilet paper on her wedge halfway through the bar. This would have been the highlight if not for 2 words: Monopoly Pinball! Oh yes. I like this place...it's casual and close to home. Andy is a great bartender/owner. My only question is when did lap dances jump from $20 to $40? When I was there last summer it was $20. Last time I was there it was $40 for full nude and $25 for topless only. I realize the price is set by the dancer but this seems rather steep; especially for Portland! read more

Well, it's a strip club, so what can I say? Went while on vacation on the last night in town and just needed to relax. Not being from Oregon it was surprising to see that kind of club. There are slot machines, keno, full bar, full nude, and lap dances happen "behind the curtain". So it was a little different. And it was very well lit! Not used to that in a strip club. The girls were okay, definitely seen worse. I would go back on a busier night. We went on a Tuesday at like 6pm so it was dead but still had fun. read more

Wow. This place is a dirty mess. Interesting smell... like sewage. The private dance areas desperately need some attention. The couches are falling apart!! Sunken in, ripped, it looks like they pulled them off the side of the road. The curtains for the private area are stained black with who knows what, and it seems to have been the same since I came in 4 years ago. As far as strip clubs go this one is okay. Its isn't anything special but the girls are decent and so is the food. The environment is classier than devils point but more aged than lucky devil. It is much cleaner than Shimmers. You park behind another building wich is good if you want to have a little privacy. Smoking is allowed out front in a smoking shed and sometimes the ladies will join you. read more

So I've been here a few times, with and without the wife in question. Like the pool tables. Not bad for drinks. They had all right prices and good looking girls as I recall.
