Jude put me immediately at ease with her positive, caring, and professional energy. She started off the session by asking me about any problem areas I wanted to address and address them we did! She taught me movements and stretches and I instantly felt tightness melt away. Throughout the entire session she talked through what Jude really knows her stuff! Tina was also wonderful, she has a good amount of strength for properly kneading out knots, but she's careful in ensuring it's still relaxing. I'd say I'm more on the fragile side and I still managed to fall asleep for a bit while still feeling rejuvenated. Usually I don't fall asleep and am too tense, so I'm very happy I tried this place. One way you can tell a professional massage place from a hole in the wall asian massage parlor is they give you a form to ask what areas you would like worked on or are causing you pain; another is that you sign about your medical conditions. The massage took place on a dressed up floor mat design. I felt warm enough and comfortable enough but was not used to being so low to the ground. I remember Eiko, the massage technician, beginning with my feet and washing them while I laid face down with a towel cover. She proceeded to work my legs and back. Her hands are smooth and strong. After working my back and arms she had me turn over to face up and worked on my head. I got an excellent scalp massage. The work she did on my lower neck was great too and was just what I needed for my computer neck. I don't know what kind of oils or lotion she used but it was good and I felt clean when I left. Five stars. She takes credit cards and has a loyalty program card that if you get 10 massages the 11th is free.

As I was leaving, saying thank you and goodbye, the front desk staff stopped me in a way that felt confrontational and implied that I was doing something wrong by not leaving a tip. I was made to feel pressured and embarrassed, as if I were committing a crime. It was very uncomfortable. Because the appointment was booked and paid for in advance through ClassPass, I was not aware that gratuity was not included. Regardless, being pressured in that manner is not an appropriate or professional way to handle tipping. Tipping should be voluntary, not something a client feels forced into through intimidation. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed what was meant to be a thoughtful birthday gift and left a negative impression.
