    MORE MOLDY GRAPES.

I got moldy grapes at lunch and I swear I ate one I'm going to throw up. This school has a problem with not listening to their students and serving disgusting food. All the deans and administrators are rude to POC and pick and choose who they dress code when there's worse. This school sucks and there's so many rude and disrespectful teachers. This school provokes their students and is horrible. 0/10.

This is the outfit my daughter wore to school on the last day of school.

Is this school is absolutely the worst the principle make policy that doesn't align with the real world..on the very last day 5-23-2025-My daughter wore a gray sweat suit that can be seen in the camera that she was wearing all school year around..Some of the other girls were getting dress coded in the hallway by who ever when my daughter was walking out her class to go to the auditorium to practice her graduation ceremony and to get her cap and gown the teacher called her over with the group of girls and said that she's dress code it So my daughter said how I wore this outfit of school year around I'm not out of dress code The teacher gets mad and sends my daughter to the office and they suspended her for 3 days and tell her that she might not graduate until I come to a meeting.. me knowing how important it is for black kids to graduate high school I take it very serious so I left work and was there in 45 min.. The assistant principal refuses to meet with me because it wasn't a convenient time for her and scheduled a meeting on my most important days of work.. This is so unfair just because you're white doesn't make you right... It's so unfair that students can work hard all year round and because you tell a teacher she was wrong she has the right to suspend you and threaten you with not graduating.. So now I have a meeting on 5-27-25 making it inconvenience for me now so I can make sure my daughter will graduate because it's already hard enough for African American students get ahead without going through all of the unnecessary obstacles...

Looks like a great high school, after few weeks I decided to move somewhere near the school zone cause my daughter deserves a good school, I hope she gets the best of this school with her, i was there this past Monday for the students orientation and presentation of the new school year, I wish everyone there the best as parent God bless every single one of the kids in there !! Location just 10 minutes off the strip, between rainbow and russel, very well maintained and clean!! Good Area .

When you identify a problem...like having kids go inside their underwear waist...searching kids..no safety in this.. females doing searches on males..with no male present.. teachers having melt downs in their classrooms taking it out on children thru retaliation in grades, emails which are toxic coming from educators...The unfortunate thing is this school operates in dysfunction total chaos. Unable to articulate their own handbook..everything that looks gold ain't gold. A hall aide told me to shush when I was going to speak up about their outrageous unclear rules and directions. I paused and said to myself be quiet in astonishment...absolutely Not! I will call out every wrong intent or action. Nevertheless the uniform is the only nice thing. Its can be expensive for some. It doesn't actually match the school academics/substance. Parents save yourself the hassle and kids find a school that practice what they preach. Which have qualified teachers and administrators. Anyone can open a school...and not be an educator. I disapprove of this charter school 100%

My daughter started at Brilliant Mont in preschool and grew beautifully through the years, wrapped in care, encouragement, and excellence. Every teacher she had played a role in shaping her, but it was Ms. Melissa in kindergarten who truly left a mark. The bond they built was so special. She showed up during a season when life wasn't easy. Her love and patience got us through a difficult time--we're forever grateful. She didn't just teach my daughter; she covered her in peace and gave her joy when things were uncertain. That's a gift you can't put a price on. From the ladies at the front desk to Mr. Alex at security--everyone at Brilliant Mont treats you like family. And I don't say that lightly. The love is real, the community is strong, and the environment is anointed. You feel safe, seen, and supported from day one. We're heartbroken to go, but so thankful to have been part of this amazing community. If you're considering a place where your child can grow not just academically but emotionally and spiritually too--this is the one. Brilliant Mont isn't just a school--it's a village. And for us, it'll always feel like home.

So, we just moved from California and wanted to get our son into a good school. We toured a few…read moreschools and settled in Awaken academy. The registrar of the school was one of the most awesome, positive people in the school. My son is very obsessed with academics and has never gotten anything below a B. Immediately he commented that he felt like the classes were easy and wanted more of a challenge. His math teacher met us in the drop off and told us that the math class was too easy for our son and he could teach the class. She would do the best to try and find stuff that would challenge him. We met with the principal and academic dean. They explained to us that the standards from California and Nevada did not align and his initial testing score suggested that he needed to be in current math class he is in. We decided to trust them and went with what they thought was right. I wish that we could say that it got better, but more red flags kept popping up. We went to a parent meeting, and they introduced the new interim superintendent, super nice guy, but no educational experience. He mentioned how the school was running at a deficit and they had lost 75 students from middle school and high school. The church was going to cover the school, but it is not a sustainable model. One of the ideas to boost and keep enrollment was the new dress code. The high school students are allowed to wear jeans, so one of his solutions was if the middle school students signed up to come to high school at the Awakening academy, they would be considered high schoolers and can wear jeans. This did not spark great hope for us. So, my son was having some issues with his grades, not major, but he had turned in an assignment late because he misunderstood the due dates. He immediately talked to the teacher, and they told him he could turn it in for less credit, which was fair. When he got his report card, he noticed that two of his grades were slightly lower because the assignments were never graded. When he approached the teacher, they told him that grades were posted and it was too late to add the missing assignments. One teacher commented that it wasn't a big deal because he still had an A. The other teacher had been absent for a few weeks (more on that later) and she said the same thing that the grades were turned in, and nothing could be done. I asked my son if he wanted me to talk to the principal/academic dean, he said no he wanted to try and advocate for himself. He talked to the academic dean, and she said the same message, that grades were turned in, and nothing could be done. My son is very non-confrontational, and he mentioned that he did not want to bother the teachers and assumed that they would just eventually get the assignment graded. She told him that it was his responsibility to follow up with the teachers, and he needed to be that "kid pestering kid that bothers his teacher". We asked our son to have the dean send us an email if there was no resolution. She told him she would, but only this once since this issue between the teacher and him. Of course, she never emailed us, and we ended up sending an email to the principal who was able to get one of his grades changed and said that the other teacher said my son had ask to do extra work to make up for his lower grade...which was not what he asked for. The principal is awesome. She follows up on issues. We asked if she could meet with the teacher and my son. He did get credit for his assignments, but my son was so upset that he needed to get us involved, when this could have been easily solved if they had just listened to him. Getting back to the teacher that has missed a few weeks in the semester. She was the Spanish teacher. I don't know why she is out and not unsympathetic that she may have some personal issues, but the school did not provide an adequate substitute. They had a nice gentleman from Zimbabwe, who did not speak a lick of Spanish. There were some confusions on assignments and so my son was emailing her and CC's academic dean. The academic dean always says she is available, but my son says she is dismissive whenever he talks to her. She told him that since the Spanish teacher was back, he could stop CC'ing her on email. The purpose of CC her was that he wanted to make sure there was follow through on his email, because the Spanish teacher rarely responds. There is more I wanted to add and plenty I had to delete, apparently there is a 5,000 character limit on yelp, so I will leave some positives. The principal is hard working and doing the best she can. My son loved his biology, math and carpentry teacher. The Dean of student's was very sweet and provided my son with a sweater, since his did not meet the dress code. Also we left mid year and found out there is a 1,000 dollar fee for leaving not finishing the school year. I hope that they improve, but the school was not for us.

Unfortunately, our experience was filled with deep disappointment. Toward the end of the school year, a serious incident occurred on campus involving unsupervised students and vandalism. Despite the severity, it was handled with a disturbing lack of transparency and accountability. We have now been made aware by other parents and students there has been multiple other incidents throughout the year as well. This, combined with a mass exodus of leadership and staff, left us with major concerns about the school's organization and long-term stability. When the people working for the school are bailing, it's hard to believe anything is stable behind the scenes. Communication has been inconsistent, leadership turnover is alarming, and the academic standards did not reflect the value we expected from a private school. Most frustrating of all was the administration's refusal to acknowledge or meaningfully respond to our valid concerns--even when we followed their own request to submit them formally in writing. For families making the significant financial and emotional investment into private education, this experience was a letdown in every way. It's hard to believe this school has been around as long as it has given how mismanaged and disorganized everything feels. We cannot, in good conscience, recommend Awaken.
