first, I would like to start off here to anyone rating this place five stars is sick. I went here for four years horrible staff, don't get me wrong. The teachers are very, very respectful and caring in a sense but when it comes to certain teachers and staff members they could care less about what UR GOING THROUGH! and let's really talk about this how come anytime a person's in trouble. The staff likes to flip the situation on them whole time it's that person getting bullied?? they don't even try to stop it and I can't even wear shorts which is crazy work because it's Vegas and it's 100° outside every day! weird right? so that's why I'm saying with full confidence. This principal genuinely doesn't have her priorities straight because she's more focused on enforcing a dress code than actually making this school a safer environment where kids can actually learn and thrive like what is wrong with half your staff like there's so much bigger fish to fry like why don't you focus on all the treats your school gets rather than if a student is showing not even a sliver of midriff. ps I would attach an image of my alleged out of dress code outfit but you wouldn't be able to see anything out of dress code cause this lady really tried dress coding me for my shirt riding up ONCE read more

I got moldy grapes at lunch and I swear I ate one I'm going to throw up. This school has a problem with not listening to their students and serving disgusting food. All the deans and administrators are rude to POC and pick and choose who they dress code when there's worse. This school sucks and there's so many rude and disrespectful teachers. Received an email Wednesday stating yearbook orders were due and cashier would be in office Wednesday. (I assumed following Wednesday, cause why would they send an email giving only a couple hours to order) Go in to order my son Senior year book. They Said the day I got the email was the day to order. Thanks for not stating the date in email And sending the email literally a few hours before it closed. So then I Call yearbook place said school has extras and can allow orders the office said no not doing it. So no yearbook for my son last year. So thankful he's done with CCSD and Durango! read more

The staff members in Durango are really nice. They treat the students nice but, the banker does have a lot of attitude towards the students. That's all the problems I have. Is this school is absolutely the worst the principle make policy that doesn't align with the real world..on the very last day 5-23-2025-My daughter wore a gray sweat suit that can be seen in the camera that she was wearing all school year around..Some of the other girls were getting dress coded in the hallway by who ever when my daughter was walking out her class to go to the auditorium to practice her graduation ceremony and to get her cap and gown the teacher called her over with the group of girls and said that she's dress code it So my daughter said how I wore this outfit of school year around I'm not out of dress code The teacher gets mad and sends my daughter to the office and they suspended her for 3 days and tell her that she might not graduate until I come to a meeting.. me knowing how important it is for black kids to graduate high school I take it very serious so I left work and was there in 45 min.. The assistant principal refuses to meet with me because it wasn't a convenient time for her and scheduled a meeting on my most important days of work.. This is so unfair just because you're white doesn't make you right... It's so unfair that students can work hard all year round and because you tell a teacher she was wrong she has the right to suspend you and threaten you with not graduating.. So now I have a meeting on 5-27-25 making it inconvenience for me now so I can make sure my daughter will graduate because it's already hard enough for African American students get ahead without going through all of the unnecessary obstacles... read more

My son was set for CCSD Summer school which this summer school is different than Apex( free) Otherwise I appreciate it and I have to pay I am unappreciated that there was so much miscommunication between the summer school staff and the high school. The first day of summer school really nobody knew what to do everybody walking around with sheets of paper looking for last names, excessive people in the wrong line. I was sent downstairs , Lost my spot in line just to have to return the same line that I was just in but now behind everybody that was behind me. they finally found my son and he attended summer school he was sick because another student had Covid so he missed two days however the rule say "if you miss the third day then I will be held i As unenrolled. He did not miss a third day! Counselor at Durango guaranteed me on numerous occasions That my son did not have to attend the second portion because he was not in the system for the second portion of summer school. She even said she spoke with the counselor from his eighth grade school, to help figure this out. I just learned today that counselor would not have that type of information and it would have been best if she advised me to go to speak with somebody else or help me and go to speak with whomever, to get the correct information. Although the counselor was very nice and helpful (so I thought)I still think it's wrong that my son has to be held accountable for this when she gets to just go to work every day and live her life when my son has to repeat the eighth grade! CCSD Need to do better with their rules when it comes to holding students back because they are literally holding a smart student back from excelling and this is completely wrong on so many levels. Hopefully the principal has time to call and get this situated quickly! We aren't the only family this has happened to in different variations! If anybody reading this has been through similar situations we need to get together because I've already spoken to the superintendent so let's get together and get our kids back on track! Does anybody know what We can do? Please help us! *****the Principal did contact me however she was not helpful! She said she hasn't approved about 60 kids with more than a half credit needed including a 16 yr old boy whom was in an accident that last day and was also retained. This school isn't good, the faculty doesn't know how to communicate with different entities ( such as summer school) So my son of being retained because the Durango Counselor along with the CCSD summer school advised my son he didn't need to attend the second portion since he passed the first portion! Looks like a great high school, after few weeks I decided to move somewhere near the school zone cause my daughter deserves a good school, I hope she gets the best of this school with her, i was there this past Monday for the students orientation and presentation of the new school year, I wish everyone there the best as parent God bless every single one of the kids in there !! The students here are constantly sick because of broken air conditioning, they are always angry because of how they are treated by staff, students feel unsafe due to how they are going to be talked to/confronted by the staff. A place where children are supposed to feel the most safe, has made them feel like they are in prison. read more

I just had the worst experience at a Durango Football Game that I attended for family. First of all every time I come to a game me and my family are dress coded even though we are well over the age of 18 and do not attend this high school and never will. I find it very disrupting and unprofessional. If there is a big issue on dress code regarding people who do not attend or do not have to abide the dress code then there should simply be a spectator dress code. Also when my family member was dress coded I guess they forgot that she had worn this exact outfit before but did not dress code her then. She has never been talked to by staff when we were here with her father so it seems odd she is now being talked to about an outfit she has been wearing to games for the past years. Not to mention she was stopped again later that night being discriminated against. The principle came up to her and embarrassingly took her down in front of the whole stadium and stated, " I wanted to talk to you because it looked like you passed something through the fence as you were walking in front of me." Mind you there was no one in front of her or near her across the fence when she threw her cup away. She wasn't passing anything through the gate she was simply throwing a cup away into the trash across the fence. I wouldn't take this as discrimination if I had not seen white students who actually attend this school exchanging weed pens inside the fence. I find all of this very disrespectful and inmature on the staffs end who are all adults and should know how to handle things maturely. Not to mention principle Nelson has done this to us multiple times and refuses to see her wrong. Not only was my relative discriminated against but she asked us after if we were sitting with anyone from Durango and if we weren't then we should go to the opposing sided bleachers. My family is here and we are coming to watch someone who is actively in the game. We told her this information and she told us that since he was on the field playing I might add! We should be sitting on the other side because a student is not actively sitting with us. We also mentioned that we were here with 3 other students although it should not matter because of our age and the fact we don't attend this school. Even though we mentioned this she disregarded it and said, "I hope you all the best and next time show up in dress code." Disregarding our statement and again not accepting she was in the wrong. Overall, I've have been having constant bad experiences because of principle Nelson and hope this issue can be fixed so that I may watch my family's football game peacefully. read more

My child ranked No 2 highest grade at school. However the score from every single statewide test never exceeded 70% which explains that the quality of education at the Durango High School is just terrible!!! Teachers may not have sufficient knowledge to teach students. My impression to the school is that the staffs are rude and unprofessional. The office reception desk staff didn't greet to me when I went there for help one time, and I had to wait until she finished chatting with her co-worker. I also witnessed a staff yelled at a student.
