    MORE MOLDY GRAPES.

I got moldy grapes at lunch and I swear I ate one I'm going to throw up. This school has a problem with not listening to their students and serving disgusting food. All the deans and administrators are rude to POC and pick and choose who they dress code when there's worse. This school sucks and there's so many rude and disrespectful teachers. This school provokes their students and is horrible. 0/10.

This is the outfit my daughter wore to school on the last day of school.

Is this school is absolutely the worst the principle make policy that doesn't align with the real world..on the very last day 5-23-2025-My daughter wore a gray sweat suit that can be seen in the camera that she was wearing all school year around..Some of the other girls were getting dress coded in the hallway by who ever when my daughter was walking out her class to go to the auditorium to practice her graduation ceremony and to get her cap and gown the teacher called her over with the group of girls and said that she's dress code it So my daughter said how I wore this outfit of school year around I'm not out of dress code The teacher gets mad and sends my daughter to the office and they suspended her for 3 days and tell her that she might not graduate until I come to a meeting.. me knowing how important it is for black kids to graduate high school I take it very serious so I left work and was there in 45 min.. The assistant principal refuses to meet with me because it wasn't a convenient time for her and scheduled a meeting on my most important days of work.. This is so unfair just because you're white doesn't make you right... It's so unfair that students can work hard all year round and because you tell a teacher she was wrong she has the right to suspend you and threaten you with not graduating.. So now I have a meeting on 5-27-25 making it inconvenience for me now so I can make sure my daughter will graduate because it's already hard enough for African American students get ahead without going through all of the unnecessary obstacles...

Looks like a great high school, after few weeks I decided to move somewhere near the school zone cause my daughter deserves a good school, I hope she gets the best of this school with her, i was there this past Monday for the students orientation and presentation of the new school year, I wish everyone there the best as parent God bless every single one of the kids in there !! Location just 10 minutes off the strip, between rainbow and russel, very well maintained and clean!! Good Area .

When you identify a problem...like having kids go inside their underwear waist...searching kids..no safety in this.. females doing searches on males..with no male present.. teachers having melt downs in their classrooms taking it out on children thru retaliation in grades, emails which are toxic coming from educators...The unfortunate thing is this school operates in dysfunction total chaos. Unable to articulate their own handbook..everything that looks gold ain't gold. A hall aide told me to shush when I was going to speak up about their outrageous unclear rules and directions. I paused and said to myself be quiet in astonishment...absolutely Not! I will call out every wrong intent or action. Nevertheless the uniform is the only nice thing. Its can be expensive for some. It doesn't actually match the school academics/substance. Parents save yourself the hassle and kids find a school that practice what they preach. Which have qualified teachers and administrators. Anyone can open a school...and not be an educator. I disapprove of this charter school 100%

My daughter started at Brilliant Mont in preschool and grew beautifully through the years, wrapped in care, encouragement, and excellence. Every teacher she had played a role in shaping her, but it was Ms. Melissa in kindergarten who truly left a mark. The bond they built was so special. She showed up during a season when life wasn't easy. Her love and patience got us through a difficult time--we're forever grateful. She didn't just teach my daughter; she covered her in peace and gave her joy when things were uncertain. That's a gift you can't put a price on. From the ladies at the front desk to Mr. Alex at security--everyone at Brilliant Mont treats you like family. And I don't say that lightly. The love is real, the community is strong, and the environment is anointed. You feel safe, seen, and supported from day one. We're heartbroken to go, but so thankful to have been part of this amazing community. If you're considering a place where your child can grow not just academically but emotionally and spiritually too--this is the one. Brilliant Mont isn't just a school--it's a village. And for us, it'll always feel like home.

We are happy with the school and staff. Coming from the over-crowded, over-stretched public school system, we are relieved to see our children accepted and not just doing well, but thriving. The upper campus kids especially love the block scheduling, as they are able to truly get some valuable class time in each subject. The homework is a perfect blend of rehashing the days learning and getting prepared for the exams. The teachers actually get to know the kids since class size is never a problem. My 4th grader loves his teacher, and with that comes respect and a desire to be the best student he can become. And being a Christian school, the true focus is on a rounded and grounded Cristian education. As with all schools, there are mistakes that have been made, and there are the occasional small problem. But the difference is that the staff and leadership truly will try to correct them. A parent is always welcome to speak with any of the staff, and the superintendent holds monthly meetings where anyone can come and voice concern or praise. What more could a parent want?

My children have known nothing but Awaken Christian Academy (formerly Calvary Chapel Christian…read moreSchool). For many years, our family had wonderful experiences there. We built lifelong friendships, our children developed meaningful relationships, and at one time we enthusiastically recommended the school to others. Unfortunately, our perception of the school changed significantly during our children's middle school and high school years. While there were still several outstanding teachers who genuinely cared about students, many of those educators eventually left. In our experience, some of the replacements did not maintain the same level of quality, and several programs appeared to suffer from a lack of resources and investment. One ongoing concern for our family was the increasing tuition costs without a clear understanding of how funds were being allocated. Tuition increased regularly, yet many parents felt there was insufficient communication regarding the school's financial priorities and long-term plans. While Awaken often seemed to aspire to be viewed alongside schools like Faith Lutheran and Bishop Gorman, our experience was that the school was not providing the same level of programs, resources, or overall educational experience. When Mrs. Lehman became principal, we were hopeful. She had always demonstrated genuine care for students and families, and we believed she was committed to improving the school. Unfortunately, by that point significant challenges already existed, and it seemed she was placed in the difficult position of trying to reverse years of decline. I genuinely believe she cared about the students and was doing her best under very difficult circumstances. My greatest frustration was with the communication from school leadership and the school board. On multiple occasions, Fred Adams, who was presented as the head of the school board, held brief meetings where information was delivered to parents but questions were not taken directly. Parents were invited to submit questions beforehand, but not all concerns were addressed. I specifically asked about financial transparency and never received an answer. The format often felt one-sided, leaving families with more questions than answers. The most disappointing moment came when the decision was announced to close the high school. Parents were informed late in the enrollment cycle, after many charter school and specialized program application deadlines had already passed. For families who had invested years of time, money, and trust into the school, this created significant stress and uncertainty about our children's educational future. At the meeting announcing the closure, Fred Adams presented the financial realities facing the school and explained why the high school could not continue operating. After delivering the presentation, he left and directed questions to Mrs. Lehman. As a parent, that was frustrating. This was one of the most significant decisions in the school's history, and many families were looking for accountability and answers from the people responsible for making it. During that meeting, I spoke publicly and emotionally about the impact this decision would have on my family and many others. Afterward, Fred Adams did not approach me, and neither Pastor Derek nor his wife Rachel acknowledged my concerns. I remember seeing them nearby, yet there was no attempt to engage with families who were visibly upset by the announcement. As a parent who had trusted the school's leadership with my children's education for many years, that experience left me feeling unheard and unsupported. That moment fundamentally changed my view of the school's leadership. While others may have had different experiences, I came away believing that the concerns of families were not being given the level of attention, communication, and compassion that such a significant decision deserved. This review is difficult to write because our family genuinely loved this school for many years. We are grateful for the teachers, staff members, coaches, and friendships that positively impacted our children. Those individuals made Awaken special. However, in our experience, a lack of transparency, communication, accountability, and long-term planning ultimately contributed to the decline of a school that once meant so much to our family.

Just disorganized and poor leadership! What makes it even more concerning is that I have two children at this school, and both have experienced the same problems with this teacher. Is that just a coincidence? If so, you should definitely consider West Career & Technical Academy, a.k.a., West Tech or WCTA. The newest tech academy in Clark County, WCTA opened in 2010 to much fanfare: It's got four greenhouses! It's partially powered by solar energy! There are Apple computers everywhere on campus for the students to use, even the cafeteria! Like other magnet high schools in the valley, students must apply and then go through a lottery to gain acceptance. WCTA is geared towards college prep with nine programs: Veterinary and Medical Sciences, Biotechnology, Nursing, Sports Medicine, Environmental Science & Natural Resources, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Business Management, Digital Media, and Information Technology. The emphasis here is definitely on learning and it helps if your son or daughter already has an idea of what they want to major in when they get to college, as you can tell from the programs offered. This is not like the traditional high schools around, so don't expect there to be NIAA sports teams or cheerleading because there are none. If a student here wants to play basketball, baseball, run track, etc., he/she must go the to high school they're zoned for and play for that school's team (if they make it through try-outs like everyone else). There are numerous clubs to join, though, as well as dances, yearbook, etc. West Tech is like a junior college for high school students. There is a lot of homework and there are students who transfer out because they can't handle the rigorous workload. However, if you want to see your tax dollars being put to good use, it's definitely happening here. West Tech students are basically getting a private education for free and I have no doubt that when my son enters college, he'll be more prepared because of his time here. There are open houses every year so you can tour the high tech campus for yourself.
