It remains one of the best decisions I've made for my family so far. The classes are energetic and fun. Anyone at any fitness level can feel comfortable here. I swear the school is made up of the most welcoming, non judgmental people I've ever met. The real strength here is the instructor team. The classes are taught by Sensei Mike and Sensei Chris, and the level of energy and knowledge between them is remarkable. They genuinely care for their students and push them to be their best. Even so warned, 10 days ago, they auto-charged me again! Credit card companies can only reverse charges once made; can't refuse future charges from a company. The only fix is to now cancel my card and notify all the companies where it's on file of my new credit card number.

Once these basic skills are mastered you learn sport jujitsu techniques that can be applied in a tournament situation. The initial emphasis on self defense without permanently hurting your opponent is a great skill for all kids to learn. If there is an interest in competition the academy can get you there. Adult classes are accelerated with an emphasis on flow drills that can get you to the point that you can walk into any academy, train with confidence, and not worry about getting hurt or hurting others. After losing a few months practice due to the move, Master Nakane got me back up to the level I needed to be for my black belt in a few short months. After earning my black belt, I continued to study with Master Nakane, and I'm glad I did. My class is small and is all adults, which has allowed me to learn a LOT in a short amount of time. (Although I think there is a children's class before the adult class.) The atmosphere of the class is a nice mixture of traditional martial arts formality and fun. Besides the class in Downers Grove, Master Nakane teaches a biweekly class in Evanston as well as a class at Northwestern. If you've ever thought about studying Tae Kwon Do, this is the place!

I originally signed a prepaid contract with Xsport but LA Fitness bought the business so now they are not fulfilling their end of the paid membership contract. I paid extra for tanning (no longer exists) and had extra months bonus from referring a customer. I have emailed corporate with zero response, been calling facilities with no solution and now they seem to not pick up the phone when I call in a row to find the real person that can provide any kind of a response.

Ok, unfortunately things are getting worse. Still have tons of plates remaining on machines from…read morethe ego lifter that just got done moving those weights about 3-5 inches each rep. So dorky. But worse now, machines (especially upstairs) are looking super nasty, dried sweat drips all over everything (I'm talking the ground, too, not just the parts some wipe off), paint flaking off equipment, multiple machines with signs that say "scheduled for service", just overall dirty! The place needs proper management attention, it hasn't gotten it for a long time. They are busy spending money buying X-sport instead of investing in current facilities. Sad.
