Villa Eva - Grilled pork plus rice with vegetables

Villa Eva

A truly wonderful place to hold a wedding reception for the daughter. We had a small intimate…read morewedding celebration, 36 adult guests in total - immediate family and friends. Highly recommended - Service was excellent- waiters were very attentive and unobtrusive. Very much what to expect for what I can only describe as old fashioned. It's the kind of place with a head waiter dressed in a tuxedo suit. Very well organized - each course served by several waiters so no one was waiting. It was timed it so that you could eat leisurely and have time to breathe between courses. Food was very well prepared. hors d'oeuvres for reception on the grassy and tree lined terrace included multiple delicious classic pairings : cream with dollop of caviar or smoked salmon bites on toast, assorted battered seafood and cheesy bites, baked tiny pizzas and bruschetta ( no pictures - busy with photos of family and bride and groom.) Venue for actual dinner was so beautifully setup and decorated . We were outdoors and they had it prepared for rainy weather and boy, that thunderstorm sounded like a fireworks show to cap the night. Live music and soloist during dinner was great and so was the DJ for dancing after ( not part of venue). There is a second floor for guests to go to to rest and it was quiet enough for the 2 babies to fall asleep. Here's a reminder- the towns along the Amalfi coast are all really on a mountain - a lot of winding roads to get to places . Keep your legs and knees in shape- expect a lot of stair climbing and walking from main roads. And it's a pasta lovers' dream - you can't really low carb here. The stair climbing and walking is great to work off some of the Carbs. Weather changes often- for this day we started with overcast skies that gave way to sunshine during the ceremony then a real rainy and loud thunderstorm which cleared as we ended. So do come prepared. Bonus: there was a church along the way that you can visit if you have time.

Albergo Garden - Beautiful view from the terrace

Albergo Garden's open-air restaurant came highly recommended by our tour guide and I'm so glad we…read morelistened! The restaurant and bar are situated right on the lip of Ravello before entering the main town square. The bar is on a higher level than the restaurant so you'll need to walk down more stairs to get to the actual restaurant. However, both venues offer some of the best views of the coast that you'll see on your trek across the south of Italy. Make sure you take advantage of sitting out on their terrace. Imagine the most scenic and picturesque views of the mountain-side and the seemingly endless blue ocean. All of this with the crisp sea air breeze gently brushing by. All that said, I might just come back here for the view alone! The highlight is definitely the enchanting view and you should come here first for that but the food is a very close second! We ordered the mixed seafood spaghetti (18 euros) and it was more than advertised. You'll get a very large plate of spaghetti noodles topped with fresh prawns, lobster, shellfish and more. Sprinkle it with the lemon and mix it in the light broth and you'll be in seafood heaven! We also had the seafood salad (13 euros) which was light, refreshing, and crisp to bite. Plus it had healthy amounts of seafood as well including calamari. Mineral water was 2.50 euros. There is also a cover charge of 2.50 per person included in the bill. What really surprised me was the price of the meal. Easily one of the most reasonable deals for all the seafood you get. I had expected to fork over plenty of euros but in the end it was cheaper than seafood restaurants we had in Sorrento or elsewhere. Plus you get that amazing view. You can tell the tourists love Albergo Garden and many just lounge away soaking up the view. I had to take off one star just because the service was very slow and not as attentive and a bit brusque. Other than that slight hiccup, I was impressed. Usually tourist spots really suffer in terms of quality of food but Albergo Garden was both good food and a great view.
