Don't let the small size fool you - it's well worth skipping the starbucks down the street and paying this local spot a visit. I've seen a few people on Yelp complaining about parking, but I've never had an issue. It's a busy intersection, but there's a number of street spots and I think most people don't know about the massive free lot behind the shops across the street, head over there if all the street parking is taken. The coffee itself is top tier. They have a lot of creative signature lattes, I've tried both the Tiramisu and Peanut Butter lattes and loved them equally. I don't usually order that kind of thing because I'm not a fan of overly sweet drinks, but these are perfectly balanced. One of my friends is a bit of a coffee connoisseur and also highly recommends the Yuenyeung Latte. We also recently tried some of their food options, and were really surprised at how good the bagels are here. The double cheese bacon sandwich is a must try, and all of the Croffles (croissant waffles) they serve on the weekend are soooo decadent and soooo tasty. Really happy to have this place right in my own neighborhood. I hear they're adding a larger Hingham location soon too; their success is so well deserved. Definitely slowly becoming a local favorite of mine!

However the coffee is infinitely better than at most run of the milk, coffee shops. As I am a coffee aficionado I've tried many coffees from many run-of-the-mill shops. It's not just that the coffees are very good reliably strong, which I like, but it's also the fact that Starbucks attracts people who seriously enjoy coffee as well as the ability to sit and chat and socialize. Socializing while having coffee is one of my favorite past times. I have for many years gone to this particular Starbucks in Hingham. And over the years I've made many true and long lasting friendships. So the friendships and the coffee savoring continue. The ambience at the Derby Street location is comfortable and clean. The manager has told us that we will be getting new furniture there soon. Notice how include myself by use of the word "we". I look forward to this. My favorite coffee is not one of the fancier ones: it's a dark roast with extra cream and sugar. However, I also truly enjoy an iced lavender latte with lavender foam, a drink that is not only tasty but beautiful. I also like to have an iced caramel macchiato for a treat. If you wanna have an especially yummy pastry, I recommend Yuzu Citrus Blossom croissant. It's a flaky pastry filled with a zesty, creamy citrus filling that tastes like lemon. Delicious! Finally, I truly recommend this particular Starbucks because the manager is so good that there's very rarely a turnover in staff. This says a lot about management. As a friend of mine likes to say people don't quit their jobs. They quit their managers. This Starbucks location is the Java equivalent of the Cheers bar. Come join the festivities!

Prices are fair no complaints there. I ordered a cookies and cream cupcake and a salted caramel cupcake which is simply a chocolate cupcake and a vanilla cupcake respectively topped with flavored buttercream frosting. The actual base cake was baked nicely fluffy and moist firm enough to not crumble in your hands like a lot of cupcakes do but not too firm where you feel like you're eating something that has been sitting out for a while or just came out of the fridge. I enjoyed the cake. The frosting/flavoring was super underwhelming. After you taste it you realize it's more so there for the aesthetic and doesn't really contribute anything to the flavor. In a blind taste test you'd think it was just buttercream frosting with decorations. It doesn't add anything. I could've just gone with a plain chocolate and plain vanilla. The frosting was hard and felt like something out of the fridge and pretty much inedible because of the sheer amount of it. Quite the opposite of the cake that it tops. Not the best cupcake not the worst wish I tried some of the other pastries there because they did look appealing but the basics of what I got being so lackluster won't drive me to return. However if I do I'll try a cake slice or something and see how that is.
