Watch out for bitter coffee. Taste before leaving the parking lot. Friendly staff but maybe not so good at making a caramel macchiato.

I live pretty far away so when I'm in Buford, I like to take a trip up to Flowery Branch to hit one of the of the cute little restaurants in the area and this week I tried Whistle Q for the first time. I am sure they are a direct competitor of Moonies which is also good, however, completely different vibes and dining rooms. Whistle Q is a great date or friends & family place. They offer patio or inside dining. Very casual yet very nice. Moonies is more of a carry out type spot or maybe work buddies joint. Extra casual - rustic but I love their BBQ sauce station at Moonies. The attached photos are an afterthought and a day later - refrigerated. I am so sorry - I didn't take photos when I arrived home to see the beautiful array of food from Whistle Q. While I initially thought it was kind of expensive, when unboxing everything and seeing how far it all goes...it's not expensive for the quality or quantity. The sides are 8 oz cups fully packed - shareable when you have a variety. We bought ... - 3/4 lb beef brisket (beautiful bark - excellent flavor - perfect texture) - BBQ Pork sandwich which I thought was pricy for $17. It has so much meat it literally makes three bbq sandwiches - so that is a great deal! The photo shown had a full portion of pork removed for another sandwich (buy a pack of buns from Publix!) - Coleslaw (mayo base) - Collard Greens (the most perfect seasoning I didn't even bother adding my hot pepper vinegar) - Mac & Cheese - Beef Tallow Fries - (delicious! oh my I'm glad I tried them when fresh and crispy - they don't travel well and arrive home soggy) What did we love? EVERYTHING! We are very impressed with the beef brisket and pulled pork and I love all the sides. I am dying to try their chili cheese fries when I can stay and dine in. The ONLY tip / suggestion I have is to get better to go bags - they use plastic bags that don't hold form and they leak - I recommend for ToGo you carry a grocery bag or something with a flat surface to keep the juices from leaking out. One other thing - if someone does not care for pickled onions or pickles - request to pack them separately as the liquid does bleed into your brisket and sandwich.

I'd calmly mentioned, "We almost left & that we're glad you came when you did." She apologized responded that she will put us ahead in the stack of orders to make up for lost time & we were grateful. Alexis kept our glasses of tea full & so kudos to her for taking care of us. On another matter that same night, We witnessed an extremely LOUD & drunk customer ordering double whiskeys every 10 - 15 minutes. It was obvious he'd been drinking heavily before we arrived at our table close to the bar. The drunk was getting louder & careless with his words & actions as we were finishing our dinner. There were young children in the booth behind us and young teens across the room. Regarding the drunk... 1. Loudly threw his phone on the bar landing a few feet from where he sat. 2. Yelling at a stranger about 5 or 6 stools away telling him, "HEY!!! Yer NOT allowed to talk on the phone!!!" while demanding a scene. 3. Multiple times bouncing off other bar stools like a bowling ball hitting pins trying to stay balanced. 4. Swearing loud enough that children at other tables could hear him. 5. Spent about 10 minutes in the bathroom while girlfriend & bartender checked up on his whereabouts. 6. Throwing up & spitting on the bar where he was seated. After he spit / threw up at the bar, the bartender pulled out a rag from his back pocket along with another from behind the bar area & wiped off the bar spreading whatever was regurgitated. Never once did I witness germ or contamination spray being applied to decontaminate the bar area safely. I also did not witness him washing his hands after cleaning up the mess. Long before the drunk customer did whatever he did in the bathroom, the bartender should have STOPPED serving him double after double after double... Instead, the bartender was singing with the drunk while continuing to serve the drunk. I thank Alexis for serving us but we won't be back. There's other classy bars & eating establishments but this isn't one of them. Almost forgot... when we sat down, there was silverware on the floor at our feet. I wish I didn't forget my phone at home because I would have added pictures & video with this report.

The new karaoke host (KJ) is doing an excellent job, and the atmosphere was fun and enjoyable throughout the night. However, the experience took a negative turn at the end of the evening. As we were preparing to leave, the assistant manager or manager, Ali, was unexpectedly rude and aggressive in trying to get us out of the establishment. Our group was already making an effort to leave respectfully and safely, as we were coordinating rides home after enjoying the night. I completely understand the need to close down and allow staff to finish their work and go home. That said, the level of pushiness and unprofessionalism displayed was unnecessary and disappointing, especially after such a positive experience earlier in the evening. I do not believe this reflects the overall quality of the staff or how Branch House is typically run. It felt like an isolated incident involving one individual rather than the establishment as a whole. Ali needs to be addressed.

I rolled in there hungry enough to eat the bumper off a truck and ordered the meatloaf ciabatta sandwich with hand-cut fries, and sweet mercy... somebody's grandma must be back there running the kitchen because that thing was borderline life-changing. The meatloaf was thick, juicy, and had that "somebody's been perfecting this recipe since 1978" flavor going on. The ciabatta held it together like a champ, and those hand-cut fries? Lord have mercy. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- the kind you keep saying "just one more" until suddenly the basket's empty and you're thinking about ordering another. Now here's the real kicker: they've got gluten-free options, which means I can bring my wife this weekend without her looking at the menu like it personally offended her. That alone deserves a round of applause. So if you're anywhere near Buford and your stomach starts talking louder than your good sense, do yourself a favor and stop by. Just be warned: You might leave full, happy... and already planning your next visit before you even get to the parking lot.

The cashier was extremely friendly and there is the option to order at a self-service kiosk or at the front. It was pretty empty when I went so my food came out really fast. I got the 2 Sliders with Fries. I asked for medium spice level for my chicken, which was good enough for me as it still had a kick but I was still able to eat it. The cashier told me to drizzle Dave's sauce and honey over the slider which was a smart decision! I feel like it added a unique sweet and spicy flavor to my meal that was lacking without the sauces. As for the fries, I asked them to put cheese on it and it tasted pretty average. I also wanted to try their mozzarella sticks that came out recently, but this location ran out. I am not a big fan of hot fried chicken just because I like to taste the seasoning and enjoy my meal without my mouth being on fire. I think it was a bit pricey as well. However, I know that this place is popular so it is worth a try! It just is not my preferred spot for a chicken sandwich.
