I went into Neds on the 19th and purchased a laptop for $200.00. Once I got it home within a couple of hours, my key board stopped working on me. Okay I fixed that problem and the next morning nasty little viruses reared their ugly heads. I checked into the system internally and they simply factory reset it to an earlier date thus hiding the problem just long enough to make a sale. I went to return it and they would not refund me even though I was not aware of their rule because it only says the exchange policy on the receipt after purchase. I get it's a pawnshop but I've purchased from this type of business prior to this particular one and others conducted business very fairly and i left satisfied with my purchase. Neds pawn is morally corrupt and rude. I've been informed since dealing with this problem that Neds has shat on a lot of my friends as well. I have learned of someone buying a PlayStation 3 that malfunctioned after a week and a flatscreen TV that shorted out because of roaches being fried in the wiring. I highly recommend staying the hell away from this business.

I have spent nearly 15k in their store over the past year (a large safe, custom hunting rifle, Sig AR-15, multiple high-end pistols, and boatloads of ammo). That said, I price shopped for every single purchase and Ed's beat out every other gun store--to include Ft Bragg's gun stores that you don't pay taxes in. Additionally, I am continually impressed by the level of professionalism their employees display. At no time have I ever felt talked-down-to or belittled--which is a rarity in gun stores now-a-days. This is so much the case that my wife even enjoys it when we go there--which is saying something as my wife is much less of a gun enthusiast than myself. In fact, my wife even ended up taking one of their concealed carry courses a few months ago and picked herself up a Ruger LCR. Interestingly, the family and I ventured up to Raleigh and Charlotte for a few weekends earlier this year. At the irritation of my wife, I stopped in a few of the supposedly better gun stores in both cities. Every time I asked one of the employees if they knew of any other really good gun stores, they gave me the info to Ed's all 4 four times! I found this crazy as we were over an hour away each time. You'd think each of these cities would have a few of their own "good" gun stores... Apparently, Ed's Gun Shop has quite the reputation even outside of the local area. I was impressed. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Check it out!

I was going to spend almost $700 on a new pistol and ammunition, but they only had one of the particular model I wanted and it was the wrong variation. That wasn't even an issue for me, but when I asked about ordering the one I wanted, it wasn't an option. I thought that was odd, but I guess they didn't need the business and I wasn't going to argue. I went elsewhere and got exactly what I wanted.

It's a smaller shop with a friendly, personal atmosphere, and nobody pressured me while I looked around. They had more on the walls than I expected, too: everything from affordable guns around $350 to some seriously nice high-end options. I'd visited a few shops around Raleigh, and this was the first one where I liked both the selection and the people enough to buy. Kurht was there, and you could tell he cared about the customers. While I was looking around, I watched someone buy his first gun. Kurht took the time with him, and it was cool to be there for that moment. We all remember our first one. Then I spotted a Geissele Super Duty in exactly the color and setup I wanted, so I ended up taking it home. I also bought a scope, which he mounted and zeroed at 200 yards for me. The whole experience of an out of state sale was fast, easy and enjoyable. I'd recommend Tar River Arms wholeheartedly. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. Even from Florida, I'd be happy to order through them and have a gun shipped to my local FFL. Thanks, Kurht, for a great experience.

I drove three hours to his shop, and it was absolutely worth the trip. He took the time to answer every question, explain the differences between models, and make sure I left with the right fit for me. The whole experience was professional, friendly, and confidence‑building. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.
