This has got to be one of the best gun stores I have ever been in--which is saying something as I quite the gun enthusiast. I have spent nearly 15k in their store over the past year (a large safe, custom hunting rifle, Sig AR-15, multiple high-end pistols, and boatloads of ammo). That said, I price shopped for every single purchase and Ed's beat out every other gun store--to include Ft Bragg's gun stores that you don't pay taxes in. Additionally, I am continually impressed by the level of professionalism their employees display. At no time have I ever felt talked-down-to or belittled--which is a rarity in gun stores now-a-days. This is so much the case that my wife even enjoys it when we go there--which is saying something as my wife is much less of a gun enthusiast than myself. In fact, my wife even ended up taking one of their concealed carry courses a few months ago and picked herself up a Ruger LCR. Interestingly, the family and I ventured up to Raleigh and Charlotte for a few weekends earlier this year. At the irritation of my wife, I stopped in a few of the supposedly better gun stores in both cities. Every time I asked one of the employees if they knew of any other really good gun stores, they gave me the info to Ed's all 4 four times! I found this crazy as we were over an hour away each time. You'd think each of these cities would have a few of their own "good" gun stores... Apparently, Ed's Gun Shop has quite the reputation even outside of the local area. I was impressed. The service was friendly but scarce. Selection wasn't any better than a decent pawn shop and prices were definitely at a premium. I was going to spend almost $700 on a new pistol and ammunition, but they only had one of the particular model I wanted and it was the wrong variation. That wasn't even an issue for me, but when I asked about ordering the one I wanted, it wasn't an option. I thought that was odd, but I guess they didn't need the business and I wasn't going to argue. Visited Ed's Gun shop as a pure accident - as I was pulling out of Tractor Supply Company. The gun shop is directly across the street. Like any true gun guy, I went right to the guns - they have a huge selection, and I was in search fro my first 1911. Wish I remember the salesman, but he quickly showed me at least 8-12 guns. In the end, I bought a 1911, and the salesman then helped me match a holster. Really good experience - lots of guns, good accessories, and friendly staff. Thanks for the help! read more

First met Ed at a gun show 25 years ago, he was honest and had great customer service. I used to really enjoy going to Ed's gun shop, recently I feel less welcome there. My last time there I heard two salesmen trash talking a customer that had just called, they were pretty rude. Additionally, a salesman was very sarcastic with me when bore sighting a gun I brought in. They have good prices and selection, and some salesmen are very helpful, but it's hit or miss. Probably the best prices in the area. I drive from Fayetteville, and we have no shortage gun shops and pawn stores. Prob 4 or so employees on the floor and each one asked if they could help. I live in Greensboro NC & Ed's Gun Shop is exactly 1hr & 21 minutes or 65 miles from my location. I will make the Drive just to buy ammo or hang out & shoot the sh*t I ended up purchasing a Beautiful 12 Gauge O/U & my father bought his S&W 9mm Performance Center Compact Pistol with ported barrel. We've got to know Ed the owner really well now he treats you like family. He doesn't push you with what your looking for has quality shotguns to I mean Browning, Beretta weatherbay & a lot more also carry's safes. Been driving an hour to come here for years for my reloading supply's until today. I bought a used scale we'll get home it does not work. Drive an hour to take it back after I called and was told I could return it. Get there and can only get store credit. I was thinking they checked it before sell it but then I realized if you buy it broke and return you don't get your money back. You have to then spend that money in store. So watch what you buy here. I won't be back because of this and the customer service. When walked up to counter he said you have to go talk to Ed so we had to go to him and stand there in front of him and four other guys while he finished his phone call. Then he told us he has a sign posted and walked off. Rude!!! Bottom line don't buy from here. When it's broke or not working your stuck. They get your money that's it. If it's bad you have to then use your money to get something you don't need. All this over $40. So glad I didn't buy any of my guns here!!!! read more

Been in there 3 times all I get is "Hi can I help you" They have gone out of their way to find me the perfect pistol and the next time the perfect rifle.. Great selection of ammo, equipment and guns. I gotta say though, didn't exactly feel like I was welcome in there. The entire staff seemed like they had some sort of an attitude. Ed's is a pretty good shop. The prices are within the normal to a bit low range and they have a pretty decent selection of firearms and ammo. There's also a nice collection of safes, hunting supplies, targets, and reloading supplies. I've been doing business with them for over 15 years. My dad and I would drive from Laurinburg just to by ammo. You will not find anyone more knowledgeable than the staff or better deal on anything guns. Dad passed 18 months ago and we laughed at some of the funny times at the store. Love to stop by and browse when in the neighborhood. I don't get the "buy or get the heck out" attitude some of the other stores seem to have. Prices are competitive with other gun stores and they always have a nice selection in stock. I have stopped by on occasion and found great deals on ammo as well. Won a Taurus Curve from a Ducks Unlimited gun raffle. I had the gun transferred from Ed's to a gun shop in Raleigh. At the time of picking the gun up in Raleigh, we checked all the features on the gun prior to leaving the store. It was at that time we noticed the switch for the laser and lights did not work. The switch will not move at all. It appears that Ed's transferred a gun prior to making sure the gun functioned 100%. If they were aware of the defect, they still transferred the gun. At this point I have no idea when I will be able to pick the gun up again. This is my first time dealing with Ed's Gun Shop, so far the experience has been negative. read more

They have an extremely knowledgable staff, but CAN get busy...so if possible you may want to stop in at an "off" time. The guys are all super sharp on weapons and Carlos is THE go-to guy for black powder queries. If you have a min to wait, go anytime. I never write reviews but after today's experience I could not hold back....do not go to this store unless you just like being treated like garbage or a criminal, I told a buddy of mine at work I was looking for a 22 rifle the day before....well he called this store and they had what i wanted for good price and told them I would be stopping by the next day, well when I walked into the store I got the stink eye, I shake it off and ask for some help...I explain myself to and my reason for being there to the guy I was referred to by my coworker, the guy looks at me like a idiot and says he doesn't remember and ask what it was I wanted, (keep in mind my buddy at work called the day before I went in the store and give him my name, and I had his) anyway I told him a 22 rifle, he said he didn't have it, so as everyone else sat around in the store looking at me like I was about to steal something, I just said thanks and left. which however worked out in my favor I found another gun store in Sanford Nc that had the gun I wanted 20 bucks cheaper...... read more
