WE FOUND BLOOD IN OUR BED AND WAS ONLY COMPINSTATED $22 !!! ????
Since this is the only hotel in Albion, NE, this is where we got to stay for our cousins graduation. The first impression is, it's not bad. My sisters and I did the white glove check in her room. The room was spotless. We then went to my room and started the same process. Since her room came up with NOTHING, we didn't check mine as well. OUR MISTAKE. I did however, pull the sheets back on my bed. NOTHING, my dad's bed, to about his hip area. The room seemed to check out. After the family BBQ we came back to our hotel around 9pm and crawled into bed. The following morning my dad woke up and noticed there was blood in his bed. I instantly started to check him for a possible scratch that might have bleed while he was sleeping. NOTHING. I double checked. 3 or 4 different times. THEN made him walk next door to my sisters room and have her check a few times. If I was going to make the case that there was blood in our bed. I wanted to make damn sure if wasn't going to be our fault. This is a huge accusation to make against someone. Working in the health field, I then had all the blood borne diseases run through my head. I went down to the office and calmly began my case. Thinking I would get farther being calm then screaming at the top of my lungs, calm was the way to go. Plus I was in the middle of a conference call with my cooperate office. The owners wife, came down said sorry and changed the sheets to my dad's bed. My dad then looked at her and said my daughters too!!!!! With bran new comforters out of the package. The owner asked my dad to come down to the office so he could explain the situation in a more private place. I would have went, but I was still stuck on the conference call. The owner explained to my dad that the guy who cleaned our room, admitted to cutting his finger with the clipboard but thought he remembered changing the sheets. The owner then explained to my dad that he was mentally handicapped. Now while I was in the office explaining to the front desk person what had happened, I heard a man in the back saying " well just tell him today is his last day and we will replace him" If this was the same kid I just seen walking to the office, there is no way that I could have let him be fired. We felt for the kid who was cleaning out room. It was obvious of his handicap and didn't want to have him fired from his job. All we wanted was to be compensated for finding the blood. The owner didn't seem to be to apologetic at the time to me. Once the owner seen my dad wearing a Marines hat he then changed his whole attitude on things. He said he would charge us from a double to a single. That wasn't OK in our eyes, but we had nowhere else to go. The way he explained it, he would charge BOTH rooms for a single, AND for the full time of the stay. We just spent over $800 for two rooms for 3 days. We even went as far as looking to move rooms over an hour away. But from driving over 12 hours to get there, that extra hour didn't seem to exciting to pack up and leave at 8pm for 2 days. We left it at that, bit our tongue and went on with our day. This all happened Friday morning, Saturday afternoon he threatened to kick us out due to having our tea cup Chihuahua in the car, on the property. You would think after finding blood in the room, having a little dog in the car wouldn't be a problem. But it was. He said if we didn't remove the dog from the car that he would have us kicked off the property by the police. My brother n law went over and started to talk to him. He noticed that my brother n law had the military base access sticker in his window. The owners attitude then changed again, but was still an ass to everyone. Like the blood was our fault. By that time, we had less than 24hrs left before we had to check out. We just took the dog to my aunts for the overnight stay and left there with a bad taste in our mouths over this. Very disappointed.
I waited 2 weeks and noticed that nothing was returned to my account from the hotel. I called the hotel and the owner said that I was supposed to bring my debt card back into the hotel to have the money refunded. ( mind you, less than 24 hours ago, he made a carbon copy of the card for his record ) I gave him the card number over the phone. Figuring it takes a full billing cycle to have the money returned, I waited a full 30 days to call back since I still haven't seen anything come through.
Today is the 30th day. I called the owner. He said he refunded me $22, for the compensation of the blood. I explained to him $22 is NOT ACCECPTABLE. He didn't seem to care. I eventually hung up the phone and realized that his conversation will be going nowhere and I will just get more upset over this.
I see they are apart of the American Hotel & lodging Association. I will be contacting them also. Not sure if it will do any good, but its worth a try. I just want to get the word out there about this hotel read more
