The classrooms along the side were converted into dressing rooms for the dancers and the whole set up was well done. People were from all over, and everyone was very nice. There were no concessions (which was not the school's responsibility or fault) and no vending machines to be found, so we had to run out and/or bring snacks and drinks for everyone. But other than that it was a great place for this event.

The rules are VERY strict and now that I look back, older and more experienced as to why some rules are established, they are STILL to tight. The classic kid's game 'tag' is not permitted to be played on the playground. There is a hill on the side of the school and they do not permit kids to climb it. I grew up with tag, so that's disappointing. The education itself, I don't remember very much. I remember how awesome my fourth grade year was, and that was because of the teacher. Unfortunately, that teacher is no longer there because he was transferred. The same principal, Ms. Warner, that is there now was there when I attended. I miss my child-days.

I do not have any children attending the school, but my experience with JA here has given me a unique opportunity to observe the students, teachers and staff at St Emily. One would be hard pressed to find a school that could offer a better experience for their child than St Emily's does. The teachers and staff are caring individuals who are clearly dedicated to the education and welfare of the students. It is evident in viewing the organization of the classrooms and the demeanor of the students that everyone there is dedicated to ensuring that students grow and learn. The school emits a positive atmosphere that is most evident in watching the interaction among students and staff. Disrespect is seldom seen here. And one thing that really amazes me is when I see older students communicating with younger students in a caring, interested manner. On numerous occasions I have seen older students asking the younger ones how they are doing or feeling and the students carrying on peer to peer conversations regardless of their age or grade differences. "Bullying" just isn't part of the process or vocabulary here. For me, this school is the closest to the education I received in the public schools in Oak Park many years ago - an education I have treasured all my life. And while the teachers can knock their socks off trying to educate their students, credit also needs to go to the parents for the positive atmosphere too - manners and discipline start in the home! So thumbs up to the entire St. Emily family - you're doing a fantastic job f or the future of the children at your school.

The curriculum is of the highest standards and all my children are excelling in all of the classes. My oldest will be heading to high school next school year and has been placed in all honor classes. It's still a relatively new school and this year they plan on building a dedicated gymnasium. This school has been and will continue to be our #1 school of choice.

There are no consequennces for their behavior and the poor paras take the brunt of it. The principal never visits your classroom and she allows teachers to treat kids with total disrespect. He was very friendly and welcoming, he even had someone named ETON who helped along the way. He was showing me that the class of 27' I would be joining only had 9 students . I did not realize how small of a school this is. Mr Dang was the principle at the time I was told. He really helped me through my tough times as a student and pushed me through making me better myself. Sadly, in my junior year I slipped on a banana peel and fell of the roof onto a kiwi. I then gained flying powers and was invisible. Ethan on the other hand was causing issues with Javon and friends. And made fun of me for it, I will be forever scared but Ethan was the one who made it worse.
