Although the company name emphasizes painting, owner Jon Silkworth offers a much broader range of services. Jon and his helper, Ernest, painted the walls and woodwork throughout my basement, including a family room, bedroom, bathroom, hallway, and small office. Their work was excellent. What stood out most was Jon's genuine desire to make sure I was completely satisfied. He repeatedly encouraged me to let him know if anything needed attention, and because he is so approachable and easy to talk to, I never felt uncomfortable mentioning even minor concerns. Any issues were addressed promptly and professionally. Jon was dependable and communicative. He arrived on time most days, and if he was running late, he always called to let me know. He has a strong work ethic and wasted no time--he got to work immediately upon arriving and worked steadily throughout the day. Trustworthiness is extremely important when hiring a contractor, and I felt completely comfortable leaving Jon alone in my home when I had appointments. That level of confidence is not something I give lightly. In addition to the painting, Jon and his subcontractor installed a tiled bathroom floor, cabinet, countertop with sink, and faucet. The workmanship was excellent. Jon also helped by selecting and installing faucets for my upstairs bathroom based on what I wanted and even replaced several switch covers. After an unexpected leak in my basement drainage system, two sections of freshly painted drywall had to be removed, waterproofed, repaired, and repainted. The repair work was so well done that you cannot tell those areas were ever disturbed. Jon consistently went above and beyond anything I have experienced with previous contractors. I would hire him again without hesitation and highly recommend Traverse City Painting Company to anyone looking for quality workmanship, reliability, and integrity.
