A picture one of my friends took of the Dumon chocolate box in New York.

I recently visited the beautiful Dumon Chocolatier Shop and had a wonderful shopping experience. It's a small, traditional Belgium chocolate shop located in the center of Bruges. The shop itself brings you back in time, both in the building's architecture and the personal attention they provide. The owners, Nele and Koen were incredibly kind and helpful in guiding me through the different types of chocolates best to bring back to New York for gifts. They even helped me pick out a box of Gluten Free chocolates for one of my friends. It was a good thing I bought plenty of chocolates because I couldn't help eating quite a few before I even made it back to the US. I can't tell you how happy my friends at home were with the chocolates! They loved them as much as I did. If you're ever in Bruges (and you MUST go), visit Nele and Koen at the Dumon Chocolatier Shop.

I have very mixed feelings about Dumon's Chocolatier. First, I want to say that I came here per Rick Steve's recommendation on one of the best chocolate shops in Brugges and so my expectations were high. The shop was quite easy to find behind the main square but the shop was small. There were only two workers there and a lot of people wandering in and out. One negative is that they do not label their chocolates so people have no idea what is what so it makes it a lot harder for people to want to buy anything without knowing what they are buying. However, the OTHER Dumon's in close proximity is actually a bit better because their chocolates were labeled. The lady told me to buy this small box which is composed of their favorites so I listened. And by the way, this place is cash only so make sure you have cash. The first three pieces were a huge disappointment to me because it tasted like chocolate I can get anywhere. Sad that they were not delicious, I put the box back in my bag and went to other chocolate places. When I came back in the USA, I had another piece and that piece was okay. A few more days went by and I had two more pieces and those pieces were good, not extraordinary but good and much better than the pieces that I had prior. I still am unsure about how I feel but mostly, I know that I would not go back here if I was in Brugges again.

    Such a wonderfully sweet woman.

I would be in trouble if I lived anywhere near Dumon's. Their chocolate is amazing. It's rich, creamy and showcases the best of Belgium. Ms. Dumon and her family are very welcoming when you come to their shop and are more than happy to share their knowledge of chocolate. I found this little shop thanks to Rick Steve's Brugge video and boy was it a fabulous find. I highly recommend stopping by to try it out.

Chocolate bar, Illy espresso & homemade hot chocolate served with truffles!

Oh my lord, this place is INSANE! I love chocolate and Belgian chocolate is undisputedly the best in the world. I was seriously like Cookie Monster when I walked in the door -- good thing all those homemade treats were behind glass or it would've been a sight to see me stuffing as many truffles into my mouth as possible while yelling "OH NOM NOM NOM" Cookie Monster style. If you are luckily enough to visit Bruges, get your butt to this store. Even if you think you don't like chocolate, go there. You will be in candy HEAVEN! The shop smells good the second you walk in. Check out all of the beautiful handmade chocolates in the glass case -- nothing is labeled but the friendly employees will be happy to explain what's in each one. We had them hand pick an assortment for us and they were all fantastic but the soft caramel filled dark chocolate ones were AMAZING. I dream about them to this day. There is limited seating but if you can grab a stool, you can order a decent Illy espresso to go with your chocolates. There are also plenty of pre-packed assortments if you want to grab and go. The best thing in the entire place is the homemade hot chocolate. Oh yeah, baby! It's the BEST TREAT EVER! You pick out a chocolate truffle with a spoon stuck inside (I loved the vanilla one). Sit down and you'll get a tall glass of warm milk. When the milk arrives, you take the chocolate, drop it in the warm milk and stir to make the best hot chocolate you have ever tasted in your life. I'm planning another trip to Belgium just so I can go back to this shop. No, really.

    Box of deliciousness!

Fantastic chocolate! After being treated to a piece of their hazelnut cream, we knew we'd come to the right place. There are all kinds of chocolates from solids to filled... bagged & boxed chocolates all really to go or you can select your own mix - we went the custom route Fun shapes like seashells, swans, horses & delist as can be - you will definitely find a treat or three! There are 2 shops in the city - this location is very small & quaint. The ladies who work here are incredibly patient & nice as can be! We got 1 box to eat right then & 1 box to bring back home for the family....fam box included lots of fruit creams as they are huge fans.... and as I am not, it made it easy to ensure the box will make it safely back to the U.S. Because everyone knows I cannot be trusted with chocolate! Mr & I chose milk & white chocolates - smooth & milky - filled with nut creams like hazelnut, chocolate ganache, as well as caramel. All were yummy & can't say there was a favorite as we just loved them all! And having polished off our box in 1 sitting, have to say if that's not as good as it gets, I don't know what is

Located down a small staircase in the winding tourist streets of Bruges, Chocolatier Dumon finally answered the question of where was best to acquire gifts for friends back home after a relatively extensive look at Belgium's artisan Chocolate scene, the range of Tablets, Pralines, Truffles and even Low-Sugar options really quite astounding. Started by Stephan Dumon in 1992, a small workshop outside Bruges slowly growing into a House with shops in three countries, Dumon 'Eiermarkt' occupies a medieval space set below the city streets and now cited by Gault & Millau since 2013 as one of Belgium's true artisans the quality of the cocoa beans and fillings shows in every item while prices seem bargain basement compared to other internationally expanded places. Certainly not ADA friendly as relates to disability, but far moreso if discussing the American Diabetes Association, Dumon is one of the few spots seen overseas with a specialty line of low-sugar confections and tasting a few after discussion with the elderly woman who was surprisingly well-versed in medical jargon the taste is really no different from the more traditional treats which were purchased in greater numbers, though those paying attention to texture may notice an overall reduced degree of smoothness. Opting for Tablets and Truffles for friends back home, Pralines and a few more Truffles saved for a post-lunch treat, Dumon excels as relates to the smoothness of the exterior layers of its creations as much as it does by way of creams, marzipan or ganaches, the options trending a bit more traditional than The Chocolate Line or Darci's with the Caramel, Pistachio Marzipan, Speculoos and Strawberry Cream particularly impressive

I have some chocolate collection 2 years ago And now I am back for some more. The stevia chocolate no refine sugar but with Excellent quality only at Dumon chocolatier Unfortunately I couldn't find the store and was walking all around and other store don't have it. At the end I found the store.the ladies who works there are always so sweet and provides good service and even gives you some chocolate to try. I got a free bag as I did purchase a lot of chocolate Belgian chocolate is known the best and Dumon chocolatier is the best of the best.

Delicious chocolates and an amazing variety! How fresh? Well, you can watch them make them in the shop.

You may ask yourself whether it's really worth it to stand in line for chocolate. I mean, it's Belgium - there's chocolate everywhere. Well, when it comes to Dumon, the answer is a resounding YES! Do it. Deal with the crowds and wait for this chocolate. And, for the love of all that is holy, do yourself a favor and get the big box. The line at the door is for mixed boxes of chocolate. I'd advise telling them anything you would not eat (such as nuts) and then letting them select a variety for you. Every single piece we got was absolutely heavenly. Sadly, we shared a small box when clearly we should have each gotten a big box. Downstairs they have packaged chocolates. We opted for a bag of truffles (oh. my. god.) and a bag of fudge (surprisingly odd - skip them). You don't have to stand in the line to get to these, but you will have to find a way to merge back into the line to pay, which was a bit annoying and confusing. Words cannot truly describe how good this chocolate is. You simply must try it. Lots of it.
