I've dealt with many attorneys for business matters, but was fortunate never to have a personal…read moresituation needing one, until a few years ago when I hired Ms Gentry. The handling of my case was poor and Ms. Gentry was non-attentive to details, poorly communicated, but most importantly, had an attitude of superiority and made snarky comments or brushed off my concerns. Ultimately, I terminate the relationship and went with another attorney, who was much more attentive and approached the situation with care and compassion during a tough time. What is shocking is that Ms. Gentry has now reached out, years later, not to check in or apologize for the situation but to ask me to consider changing my Google review I left two years ago. Again, no care to what I was put through, instead it was to offer me a full refund to address the review. I told Ms Gentry to give the money to charity and that I felt it was important the public heard about my experience. To this she responded with "Have a nice life" - proving again that her actions are self-serving and she has little interest in her clients.

She said I was who she was representing and wouldnt let me give away everything. I gave husband half the house value. The interest in his mustang and truck. He kept his ira money. Lets see i got to refinance the house that we had already paid for once at a higher value than when we bought it and interest in my kia soul and keep my retirement. I agreed to this because she did not talk to me before she typed it up and i was ready to be done with him. We went to court twice with paperwork messed up. On the day i did get divorced she was in a crimi al trial amd didnt even tell me she wouldnt be there. Thank goodness the one taking her place was good. I feel and felt like this was the first divorce she had ever done. I also had to continue to call for them to have even submitted papers in time to get the house refinanced. At a minimum i would of loved to get the interest from the vehicles and i got strattled with my debt while he had none. No i dont recommend her. My friends laugh at how awful this was.

I was not happy at having to go into bankruptcy a few years ago, but when I went in to get it done,…read moreI was treated with all kinds of respect and dignity by Mr. Podis, Esq. He helped us through the process, stood with us in bankruptcy court, and made sure to let us know he was available when we needed his help. Well, about a week ago, I was having issues getting some paperwork I needed, so I just went to his office, and he spent quite a bit of time, helping me out, giving advice, walking through steps I needed to get done, and just being like a ... "father-figure?" I hate to say that, but that's kind of what it felt like. Finally, the paperwork I got done was still in limbo, and I was getting frustrated. Doors were closing, everyone was being helpful, and I was not getting any real answers. I called up the Podis and Podis again, and after another frustration, I was put through to Cynthia Podis, Mark's wife. She could tell I was very frustrated, and she took time out of her day to help me understand my situation, see my options, and encourage me that all would work out. It was a boost I really needed and it pulled me out of a depression spiral that I was sinking into deeply, dealing with insurance, lawyers, and car-types. All that said, I've HATED lawyers, but these two seem to understand that the people behind the legalese, jargon, paperwork, and courtrooms, are usually calling them while they are hurting. They seem to get it that you don't call a bankruptcy lawyer until you've been through many days of stress, or you've had to deal with a major disruption of your life and need the court to help get back on track. They are extremely kind, and will do their very best for you.

Within minutes of explaining our situation our fears were put to rest. Much time was put into answering our questions and explaining how the process works, the good and the bad. Everyone that we have worked with in this office has been friendly and very professional. I believe them to be honest, upfront, and knowledgeable about problems that we may run into. I always appreciate the honesty and them making sure that we understand the good and the bad of our particular situation. Lonna has been wonderful!! We are self admittedly a bit high maintenence and she has been great about everything. Calls are always returned in a very reasonable amount of time. Only regret is not coming to Podis and Podis first!

I chose Ms. Burdine because of a good review I read about her depth of care she gave one particular…read moreclient. He commented on how invested she was in his case, and I found that to be compelling. When I met her for the first time, I thought she was down to earth, not pretentious like a lot of lawyers, and she was quick-thinking, which I liked. She seemed to know what I could expect, and her prices were fair, so I decided to go with her. Once I paid, my level of service changed drastically. I was told to download this particular app (called Clio) because it helped them to stay on top of my case and allowed them to communicate with me better. I remember Hannah saying she could sometimes be in court or traveling or at home on the weekend and responding to some of the things on Clio because it was just easier than waiting to deal with things during the week. Well, I never had any of my inquiries responded to quickly because of the app. Most were either ignored completely or really late - like a week later or never at all. Like, no one in the whole place responded. No secretary, nothing. Just crickets. I later learned that it was a way for them to track how much they were talking with me so they could ultimately charge me more. Besides not responding to me, there was paperwork that needed to be signed with a notary. On the day they notified me, I took care of it and then drove 30 miles to drop it off at their office, which they never notified me had moved, so I drove to an office in Nashville and then learned it had relocated to Franklin. No one was there. I was not told no one would be there although it was within business hours, so I dropped it with a next door business owner. A week later , Nov 14th, I was notified that they forgot to have me notarize a second paper, so I had to do it all again. It felt like my time and efforts were not considered as important. In my final transaction with this firm, on Dec 1, as I was awaiting the final decree signed by the judge, I tried to sign in to Clio, but it had locked me out and told me I had charges I had to pay before I could see anything. I had lost access to all documents, conversations, and materials in the portal. ??? I called the office to inquire about why I was receiving these charges. The receptionist had no answers for me but said Hannah would get back with me. Nothing. I sent in an email inquiry after 24 hours of no response. I received an email on Dec 5 saying "Congratulations, your divorce is final. We just received the paperwork," though there was no attachment. I told them this, and then received the attachment (the copy of the final decree) on the 6th. In the meantime I had already texted my ex. He had received the paperwork from his attorney a week prior. The judge signed it on Nov 22nd. I figured out that the reason for the charges is that they thought they were done with me, and I was initiating new business. They didn't realize that they never told me my divorce was final. I would have appreciated someone just calling me and saying "I'm sorry. We messed up." (It wasn't the first time, but I'm not going to write every instance here. I don't like them trying to play it off like they just received the documents when I know that's not the truth). They did finally remove the charges after I requested it (in writing - no one ever contacted me in person to apologize, and no one acknowledged their mistake in writing either). I wish I could recommend Ms. Burdine. I think she has some qualities that made her a potentially good attorney, but the firm's disorganization and lack of communication left me feeling forgotten and pretty well abandoned during this already very isolating process. I really had to look out for myself in using this firm. I have a friend who is currently needing representation, and sadly, I am not recommending my lawyer because I don't want to see her get this lack of care. FYI: We were married 2 years, no kids. Our only asset is a house in which we ultimately agreed on the terms. We filed in mid-July and it was not finalized until December (well, actually November, but if you read the above, you know that I didn't find out until December). As a final note, I never received my official copy of the final decree with the judge's seal so I could change my drivers license from Ms. Burdine's office. When I inquired about it, she told me to go to the County Clerk's office in Lebanon (Wilson County) - even provided me the address. I live in, and was divorced in: Rutherford County (another careless mistake on her part). When I inquired with the Rutherford County Clerk's office they said I could have it mailed to me for no charge (so why did Ms. Burdine not do this for me?). This is a prime example of what I'm talking about.... A lot of unnecessary confusion with this firm. I really felt like I was on my own here.

My situation was unique and I stressed over and over how important it was to me. She never took the time to ask me questions and get to know me and the situation on any kind of level. She never returned my calls or responded to me on the Clio app. Chloe was screening my call as well. I offered more money to be taken seriously and still never heard anything. My daughter called from her phone and they answered. Completely unprofessional when dealing with peoples lives. Fast forward to our court date.. she was unprepared, scattered, mispronounced my name the entire time. She had an attitude with the judge and knew nothing about me. I was mortified. I wish I could have represented myself. After reading the other reviews it seems she picks and chooses cases to care about. She should have turned me away if she didn't want to help me. I will make it my mission to let everyone know my experience including the board.
