The lighthouse itself was neat to climb up but smaller than expected. It was the perfect size to keep our granddaughter (age 6) engaged without being bored. By far the best part was the grounds. So beautiful and right on a well-groomed walking path. Our little 5 minute stop turned into a two hour adventure. This is the perfect stop if you're are looking to spend some quiet time on the water and would like a smaller version of split rock. It is not as well kept or as popular but was just enough for us. It is worth the stop. Especially if you plan ahead and bring a picnic lunch with you!

What's awesome here is that three of the lighthouses buildings are open to be toured, including the tower itself (which was way too crowded for my comfort), the keeper's quarters that have been restored to 20th century decorations and the assistant keeper's quarters that have been restored to late 19th century.
