They expelled me 2 months into sophomore year, best thing that ever happened in my life. It was a pretty nice school besides that.

I just dropped my child off at NDA this morning where I saw the principal standing outside in…read morefreezing temperatures to greet incoming students. She helped a black child who was struggling with a backpack over his winter coat. Then, she did the laughing "chilly" dance with another much younger black child, perhaps a kindergartener or first grader, who was racing inside to escape the cold. Mrs. Deruki greeted two Asian sisters on their way in the front door and waved at a group of Hispanic siblings trekking down the sidewalk. Everyone was smiling, children and adults alike. As I witnessed all this from my car, I couldn't help but think about the review complaining about NDA's lack of diversity. This is not an all white school like so many other private schools in Georgia. In my child's class alone, there are Hispanic families, Asian families, mixed race families, and black families. I want my child in a school that welcomes all races and ethnicities, and honestly, that has been my experience at NDA. I cannot speak for other parents who may feel differently, and I feel sad for the mom who felt like her daughter's needs were not met. But, there must be more to that story that was not shared here on Yelp. My fear is that negative reviews calling NDA racist will scare away the very families that NDA wants to welcome to its community. Please don't be afraid. My daughter's experience at NDA has been wonderful. The academics are rigorous and the expectations are high. She has not loved every single teacher, but some teachers are adored, deeply. And that's life, isn't it? Persevere, learn, grow. Notre Dame Academy is not a perfect fit for every student, but my Colombian American daughter loves it, and she is thriving.

An amazing private school. We are 2 months in and very very impressed. We love it here.read more

This school was truly an answer to my family's prayers! Our First grader was in public school and…read morehad an IEP. The public school did not implement his IEP in anyway. We found Majestic Preparatory Academy and was amazed from day one! Teachers and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They are always willing to spend the extra time needed with my child or to answer any questions we may have. Student to teacher ratio is 10 so the teachers have the ability to take care of individual students needs. My child not only caught up but exceeded his education requirements for the year! His confidence level increased 100%. They went on field trips and enjoyed many activities throughout the year. This place has been a blessing and we are looking forward to the summer program as well as a new school year in the fall.

To start things off, I am from this school personally, currently in my Junior year. If you're…read morethinking about placing your kid into this school, it's... better not to. First, there's a lot of unsolved fights that go around, I even HEARD that they had as student involved and even expelled the student who didn't do anything?? What kind of fairness is that? Secondly, the school really likes to have favorites. I'm speaking about most of the teachers. My teacher from first block always talks to these two girls in the middle table in front of me and even picks on them as an example for the class and always, I mean ALWAYS prioritize the girl's work ahead of others and has to praise their projects while ridiculing others. It's ridiculous for students who Actually put their time and effort in their work to just be judged by the teacher while he gives those girls all of his praise. Lastly, the FREAKING Security measures are WORSE. They not only added an X-Ray conveyor belt at the front of the school, but they also even Search through your belongings once your bag once your bag gets detected with a "Dangerous" object. I literally had my bag searched several times for having a damn umbrella, a Chromebook And it's charger (That the school literally provides) being detected by the x-ray. I felt uncomfortable with the staff checking through my bags, because I would always think they would find private stuff of mine like pads or my pills and consider my arrest for having prescribed medicine. It felt invading, especially with how some perverts still walk the street somedays. So seriously, please reconsidering if you want to apply in this school.

I recently read some of the negative reviews about GAC and felt that I needed to offer a different…read moreperspective. Our oldest son started GAC in K6 and will be going into 5th grade next year. Our youngest started in K5 and will be going into 3rd grade next year. For our time there, our family at GAC has been as near and dear to us as our home church family. The teachers that our boys have been blessed to have were the perfect match for their personalities and strengths/challenges. Both boys were diagnosed with dyslexia 2 years ago and the Orton-Gillingham based academic support program has been fantastic! I know that both are a bit self-conscious reading aloud but we had some daddy-son time last night (Mom was out with some neighborhood GAC moms) and I asked both to read a chapter of their current summer-reading book to me. I was blown away! Their progress since just the first of the year is stark and I know that is due to the support they have received this year from their teachers (and my wife's activity as well). Granted that we have not seen life in middle or high school and some of the challenges that others experienced may exist on some scale but I keep meeting so many neat kids that are near graduation that have nothing but positive things to say about their experience. I sincerely believe that the staff will work with us to overcome the challenges that we face when/should they arise. Is GAC perfect? Probably not. The community is made up of flawed human beings who are absolutely capable of making mistakes. But I sincerely believe that they are acting and making choices that is a continuation of the work my wife and I are doing to raise our children to "grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and all people." As far as the power lines, I will have to look for those. I don't recall seeing any but looking at Google Earth there might be some at the back of campus near the baseball field. If so, that wouldn't be anywhere near the Village, but again, I will have to look when school starts back. And for the sake of a little fun... even though my favorite colors are orange and blue, black and red attire is now in my closet as well. Go Spartans!

I have two that have dyslexia that came in remediated, but they do have a remediation program. There is academic support. Those teachers are amazing and push into the classroom in elementary school. the teachers are supportive, communicative, and available accessible and connected with our kids. My kids are involved in sports music, dance, arts , theater. There are a lot of opportunities to be outward facing service projects, mission trips. While I appreciate that, my kids are taught the Bible and a relationship with Jesus and the teachers reflect that my kids also have a diverse group of friends that come from different religious backgrounds, economic, backgrounds, and political backgrounds, which aren't emphasized, but there is a variety of demographic. My son instance has friends that are Hindi, Punjabi, agnostic. My kids are taught not just about Christian world views, but different religious world views, different scientific views like evolution in biology (which someone for some reason said they aren't taught) and they're taught from a scientific standpoint not trying to dispute the scientific theory. As rhe get older, they have opportunities to question, debate, express their opinions in different classes and that's encouraged because they don't want the kids to be programmed robots. As I stated earlier, their families of different economic backgrounds, but that is not something that is known or something that at least for my kids they don't care if they have a lot of money or don't have a lot of money. It's just not important in the grand scheme of things. They have a diverse group of friends and I find that a lot of my friends kids find their niche. They find their people because there's so much variety and diversity. Well, they do a annual fun fundraiser. You could donate a dollar and still participate with zero judgment or not at all. There is a level of understanding from learning disabilities to economic to religious backgrounds that is accepted without judgment. Of course there's gonna be jerk kids at every school, but that's the minority and not the majority.
