A++ Fantastic! Best…read moretour ever! Why have you not signed up yet?! I love, love, love the Santa Cruz Food Tour. In fact, I love it so much, I've gone 4 times- on the SAME tour. It's that good. And Brion, the owner/tour guide is seriously great. He's incredibly knowledgeable about the Santa Cruz area, the history behind it, and the local restaurants dined at during the tour. Here are some of the highlights you get on the tour: + Brion - totally awesome host! + Tons of history of the Santa Cruz area, the REAL facts behind the SC Mission, history of the railway system, facts about the beautiful architecture surrounding downtown, and much, much more! + Insanely great food at local restaurants - all restaurants Brion has picked on this tour have a story behind them, area local to the area, and are DELICIOUS One of the best things about this tour is that although I'm semi-local to Santa Cruz, I learned SO much I hadn't previously known about the areas and dined at places I never would have otherwise. This tour opens up new ways to enjoy the Santa Cruz area. Although it's the same tour each time I've attended, I've learned a little more about the area, tried something slightly different then I did before, and got to enjoy this fantastic experience with someone new each time. :) TIP: Book as early as possible because the tour dates fill up FAST.

They were super responsive when we wanted to book our tour with just a few days notice - so mad props for their fast, friendly service in getting us booked so quickly!! Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about Carmel, and provided an overview about the area and was very willing to answer any questions we had. We enjoyed chatting with her throughout the 4 hour experience. We enjoyed tastes from 5-6 different locations throughout the downtown Carmel area. We were definitely provided a lot of variety and everything was delicious - from doughnuts and coffee and nuts to French onion soup and sushi. We had the opportunity at one of the locations (Toro) to have an interactive experience, spending time speaking with the general manager learning the background about the restaurant. We also had a special sake tasting featuring three different sakes. It was a very unique experience and the sushi was also extremely fresh and delicious. Overall, it was a good experience and we were able to enjoy a nice variety of food that local restaurants provide. Important tips for future tour goers: 1. Don't eat before going on a food tour. We thankfully didn't eat -otherwise, we would not have been able to enjoy the food tour to its fullest. 2. Don't book any reservations to restaurants that same day. We were still stuffed by the time it was time to go to dinner - and that was more than 5 hours later!

Brian, the tour guide, is full of a wealth of historical and foodie knowledge. I've lived in Santa Cruz for about 6 years and had never heard most of the stuff he told us! We went for the food, but got a fascinating history lesson in the process! During our tour we visited the following locations: Bloomsbury Tea Room Paradise Beach Grille Shadowbrook Gayle's Bakery The Tea Room had a yummy selection of scones with amazing jams and lemon curd. There were finger sandwiches and quiches, along with a large selection of teas. At Gayle's we had a yummy chocolate treat, and learned all about the history of the bakery. Paradise Beach Grille (which you should go to even if you don't take this tour) was amazing as always with a delightful shrimp dish. From there we made our way to Shadowbrook where we had delicious pork sliders and a scrumptious salad while learning all about the fascinating history of the restaurant and the site itself. Any of these restaurants are worth checking out by themselves, so to eat at all four of them is a real treat! Note: it looks like the tour now goes to Geisha Sushi instead of Gayle's Bakery - if there was any place that could be an acceptable substitute for Gayle's, it's Geisha! Love that place too! We loved the tour so much we forced all our parents to go on the Santa Cruz tour with us!

I recommend this for friends, couples and families. A great afternoon!

What would your dream trip to Paris include? I had a dream trip, told Celine Glon of Et Voila Paris…read moreabout it, and she made it happen. I had very specific ideas. I'm a writer and have just finished the first draft of a mystery novel that involves the life of Georges Bizet, composer of the opera, Carmen. I wanted to go to Paris and various places there to see where Bizet lived and worked so I could add such settings to my book. Celine made an itinerary for me, got me wonderful guides to drive me to these places and to tell me about their histories and even explore with me. NOT ONLY THAT, Celine got me introduced to people knowledgeable about Bizet, and she got me into places where people normally can't go. For example, there is a house in the town of Bougival near Paris where Bizet lived when he wrote Carmen. Celine got me a private tour of this privately owned house (not open to the public) AND an introduction to a board member of a society that promotes art and artists as part of the memory of Georges Bizet. She also got me introduced to a gentleman who speaks excellent English and who is extremely knowledgeable about classical music and opera so he could go with me to meet with the board member and see the home. There are many other things I could mention about the Bizet part of the trip, like my private tour of the Opera Comique (where Carmen opened in 1875) and lunch with the Comique's dramaturge. Again, the Opera Comique is not open to the public for such tours, but Celine arranged it all. Celine also booked me private guides to take me other places just for fun, such as Chantilly, which has the biggest collection of French paintings after the Louvre, and Malmaison, the home of Josephine and Napoleon Bonaparte. I could go on and on, but that would make this review too long. I'll close by saying that I would recommend Celine to anyone, including my closest family and friends. I trust her totally to come up with customized trips that will fit any needs. I highly recommend her. She has a million connections and I can see she is an expert in the art of making people's dreams come true in Paris and all over France.
