Was looking for a new dentist and came upon Zeis Dental, due to the yelp reviews. I called their office and provided all my information/insurance information. My appointment was going to be roughly 2-months out. I asked them to run the insurance to ensure everything would be covered, as I was making the appointment for a general 6-month cleaning/checkup. The person who took the call was nice and personable. He said he would let me know if anything was out of the ordinary with my normal Delta Dental insurance and he would look forward to seeing me at my appointment. I hadn't heard from the dental office until the day before my appointment, and this was approx. 2 months from the time the appointment was made. A female left me voicemail at 11:00 and told me I had 3 or 4 hours to call back and confirm my appointment or they would cancel my appointment. When I listened to my voicemail, after my work day as my job doesn't pay me to talk on my personal phone, I called the office back to confirm my appointment for the next day. The girl, who answered the phone, stated they had already canceled my appointment and another patient is now in that slot. I asked her about the realistic demand of sending a reminder in less than 24hrs and requiring an instant call back from the working patient, or the appointment will be canceled. She told me that that is their policy and I should have responded earlier. She told me she could schedule me for an appointment 2 weeks later. At this point, I just wanted my 6-month cleaning/checkup so I had her put me in for the next appointment. She still stated she would not be able to send a reminder greater than 24hrs, but to make sure to check my phone around that time so the appointment doesn't get canceled again. (I have never heard of such shiftless demands coming from a dentist's office in my entire life.) 2-3 days before my next appointment I was contacted by this office and told they didn't accept my insurance. I was completely dumbfounded. On my initial call to make the appointment, over 2 months prior, I was told they took my insurance and would confirm there wouldn't be any out of pocket expenses or if there were they would let me know. Now, they don't accept my insurance. The guy told me told me they accept Delta but it must be the PREMIUM level and not the normal level of Delta Dental insurance. I asked him why he let almost 2 months go by without checking the insurance, as he agreed he would. He was not able to answer my question. Upon being told that Zeis Dental didn't accept my level of Delta insurance, I called Delta for clarification. They told me this office does accept Delta's regular insurance, but they have to submit a pre-authorization to Delta, prior to the dental appointment, so they know how much Delta will pay and how much may be left to the patient. I called Zeis dental back and advised them of this process. The same guy told me he was aware of that, but it could take a week or so to get the answer. The call was left that he would submit the pre-authorization to Delta Dental, so we would know if I would be required any out of pocket payment at my appointment. I had him repeat to me what he was going to do and he guaranteed me he would proceed in this fashion and get back to me with the results in approx. 2 weeks. It is now 3 months later, AND I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THIS OFFICE. I have since found another dentist. If you have anything other than a trust fund, which allows you to not work and stare at your phone all day for that acute reply window from this office, I would highly encourage looking at other dentists. This office presented an exemplary OVER-PROMISE and UNDER-DELIVER, coupled with an immense lacking care for my teeth. The amount of time they wasted also presents an extreme lack of care for my time. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

Alina Maria Stangu - Practice Manager - Park Dental Edina…read more Poor insurance approval process. I was repeatedly asked to provide payment more than 1 year after a crown, without clear explanation or documentation regarding the status of insurance appeals on why coverage was denied. Pre-authorization was not obtained. Alina demanded payment with no explanation on how to alleviate issue on approval and proper documentation for the 2nd crown. The first crown was presented as medically necessary, with the explanation that failure to proceed could result in a root canal which is why we proceeded. Given the importance of this treatment, the lack of clear communication, documentation and transparency around insurance appeals was particularly concerning. Overall, the process reflected poor communication, insufficient documentation and inadequate explanation regarding insurance handling and patient financial responsibility. Extremely unprofessional and very disappointed in the service.

Others were not, a couple were obstinate bordering on rude and one of the doctors spent 50 minutes fitting a temporary tooth but when he finally said "all done" I looked at it in a mirror and it was VERY obviously not a correct fit. They had to order a new one. When it came to permanently replacing the tooth the first one didn't fit either and they had to have another one produced. Putting all 4 or so visits together I'd say the experience was terrible. Suffice to say I have a new dentist/dental office.

He listened actively to my concerns and fears, and the treatment plan proved that he heard me 100%. His staff is efficient and attentive, the office is modern and lovely with private treatment rooms, not cubicles where you can hear what's going on with other patients. And the price was very reasonable and less than I anticipated. Dr Cook truly understands how to help scared people, not just how to clean, fix and otherwise work on teeth. And in my situation, that has made all of the difference. Thanks a million for getting me back on track seeing a dentist after many years of fear and trepidation.

Dr. Cook and his staff, I believe, project a small town feeling at their practice in a time of large impersonal large offices. I appreciate this and feel good when the front desk people, the hygienist (Kris), and Dr. Cook know me by name. I had to leave this practice for a while because of a dental plan that dictated where I could go..but now I look forward to returning since our new insurance plan now allows me and my family more choices. I choose Dr. Cook and his staff. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

I've appreciated their attention to detail and friendly "chairside" manner. I've also really appreciated the clinic's updated technology to give the best possible care, such as their ultrasonic teeth cleaning (or whatever it's called. It's pretty slick and nicer than the old-school way of scraping the teeth with metal). But I'm writing this review because of the experience I had at my most recent cleaning. My hygienist was done and I expected to see Dr. Holm next. I wasn't aware that she was either busy or out because instead Dr. Anderson came in to see me. He asked me how my summer was going and I said it was just OK because I had COVID a few weeks ago. His reply was something to the effect of "so what?" and I explained that it basically knocked me out for like a week. He then became very skeptical and asked if I was sure it was COVID, as if I was making it up. I said I tested positive. And it was hard to tell, but I swear he rolled his eyes at me. As he wrapped up my oral screening, Dr. Anderson said (seemingly) sarcastically, "well, no sign of that COVID." I walked away from my appointment feeling belittled and wondering why a health professional would be a COVID skeptic. Combining how he made me feel with his odd attitude toward genuine health concerns, I've lost a lot of the trust I held for this clinic. Dr. Anderson could have said "I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad you're feeling better now." but he chose to speak to me in a way that made me feel judged and uncomfortable. Nobody deserves to feel this way after their dentist appointment. EDIT 7/23/25: Dr. Holm reached out to me soon after I posted this review. She was concerned about my experience and apologized sincerely for what happened. She said that she spoke with Dr. Anderson (her father) and that there was no ill intention with what he had said. He and the office have always taken COVID very seriously and worked hard to implement measures to prevent transmission when the pandemic broke out. His comments and questions for me were meant to be genuine even if they didn't come across that way. From how Dr. Holm spoke, I do honestly believe her and that they have only the best intentions for their patients and their health. She also said that Dr. Anderson himself offered to call and apologize and I said that wasn't necessary. Thank you, Dr. Holm, for reaching out. I've decided to revise my star rating based on our conversation and my past experiences.

Decided to call in to make sure one hour will be enough to address both issues but was told that my appointment is for cleaning and Xray only and if filling is needed doctor will not have time to do it and another appointment will be needed.
