Duke Building - A++. I had the opportunity to personally work with Riley and his team. I have a finely tuned radar for when you're being fed cheap bologna on stale bread, and I'm here to say, they build quality houses. The process isn't without its hiccups; no mankind has ever built a home without hiccups. Though minor, they were promptly dealt with in a professional manner, because they genuinely care. We've grown into our home with more rambunctious kids now for some time, stress tested it for a handful of years, and can say it's been an absolute joy living in a Duke built home. But seriously, we see homes all the time that took the easy way out -- cheap products, shortcuts in the process, corners cut where you can't see them yet but you will. Thanks to Duke Building, I can stand tall and proud as I arrive home every day knowing that what's behind the walls is just as solid as what you see in front of you. No mysteries. No "well that's interesting" discoveries three years later. Just a well-built home that keeps its promises long after the keys are handed over. Riley runs a team that actually takes ownership. That's rarer than it should be. When something needed attention, I didn't have to chase anyone down or wonder if my message disappeared into a black hole. These are people who show up, follow through, and take pride in the finished product. We love the home we built with Duke Building. Had an awful experience with Duke building. Spencer is a saving Grace, but even his attention to the customer can't hide Riley Duke's negligence. Communication got worse and worse as we went through our project. The worst of it was that our house wasn't even up to code when we signed papers for final payment. Riley refused to fix things. Our exterior vinyl siding job is awful. Before signing, Riley told me he would have the contractors fix it. He never did. In some places around our home, we have exposed wood where the contractors didn't even cover the framing of the home. Riley claims no responsibility and is completely unresponsive. He puts on a good show, but he's not the real deal. We signed our contract in June 2020. At that time, Riley told us that he'd never done a home on an unimproved lot. I asked if we could look at getting a walkout basement put in. I was told they'd never seen that and didn't know how to do it if our home wasn't on a hill. Huge red flag. Should've walked away then. Our home was $30,000 more than our contracted price because of factors completely out of our control. Somehow, they were able to get a certificate of occupancy from the county inspector even though we had no attic access in our upstairs and no hand rail to the basement stairs (things that are so obviously against code). It seemed that Riley didn't even know that these items were violating code. He refused to fix them until I called the county inspector who then called him and told him to fix it. Within 2 hours, he sent over one of his handymen to fix it. Our home was finished in double the amount of time that was quoted to us. I couldn't recommend them to anyone who cares about a good quality home and feeling like you have a partner in building your home. Towards the send, I truly felt like we were someone to suck money from and not a client to serve. Also, a couple of people who work for him have written reviews on his Google Maps Business account. I've attached 3 pics. The first shows our wood exposed underneath the vinyl siding to the house. The second pic shows the siding around the garage door is bowed, and the 3rd shows a large gap between the bathroom tub and floor which is not caulked and which Riley felt no need to take care of. He also refused to fix the electricity with the garbage disposal and dishwasher (we couldn't use both at the same time because of the wiring). Also, he didn't feel it necessary to install our doorbell. As soon as we signed closing docs, Riley Duke was done. And only looked back when he was forced to by the county inspector. Again, I could never recommend him to anyone. read more
