Unprofessional, incompetent, rude, and uncaring are just a few words I can use to describe my experience with Dudley-Hoffman. I cannot speak for others but can only share my experience.
I went to the mortuary with the sister of my close friend who lost his battle with cancer. The individual who attended to us was obviously new, and kept apologizing throughout the meeting for being new and could not answer questions. I was apparent to me he was not ready to do an intake on hos own. He showed no empathy and frequently had an uncomfortable and inappropriate laugh throughout the session. My friend's sister, who was from out of state, had limited time before she had to return home (approx 7 days from this appt) and was told that her brothers ashes would not be ready before she left. When she indicated that she is not sure when she would return, and was told that the ashes must be picked up by the first of the month (approx 3 weeks). This was a simple cremation with no memorial service or viewing. A following day she called to speak to someone about holding onto her brothers ashes until she returned; she spoke to one of the owners who, with no sense of caring, said "we are not in the business of storing ashes."
According to their website, they have been in business since 1876 and one would think after 142 years they would know how to treat those that have lost their loved one with the utmost dignity and respect. A big FAIL from my perspective. read more
