We have been very impressed with how they teach the kids, and what the kids have learned. The school is safe, very clean, and the owner is on-sight everyday. The other two directors in charge are also there everyday, and do a wonderful job of meeting the needs of the children and staff. The sanitation process (staff wearing gloves to distribute food) was already in order, and we are extremely pleased with current procedures during this different time. The children learn through play, and are taught community skills, such as raising their hand to speak and to make good choices. We are so impressed with how the teachers make responsibility fun. Susan, the director, has been very responsive and accommodating, and our daughter's teachers are loving and involved. I have found the building and outside area to be clean (the playground area is awesome), and I will echo one of the other parents that the teachers in the other rooms go out of their way to engage with parents and children who are not even assigned to their rooms. There is a nice sense of community here. In particular, Miss Saamara in the Cuddlebug room is outstanding. She is incredibly warm and sweet. Our child had some issues with separation anxiety at first and Miss Saamara would take her and walk her around the room while holding her, showing her pictures and talking to her in a soothing voice as I left. I would often pause for a minute outside the room to make sure my child stopped crying, and Miss Saamara always had her calmed within a minute or two. Now that she has adjusted to her classmates and teachers, our child is always happy and barely notices when we arrive to pick her up - she would rather keep playing! One of the other things I really liked about this program is that most of the teachers have been here much longer than other programs: 5-15 years. That made me very comfortable that the director knows the teachers well and that they are in this career because they love what they do. The reason for the 4 out of 5 star rating is that we have had two minor issues here, but I feel that these has been handled well by the teachers/director and were positively resolved. (a few late arrivals by a teacher which caused me to be late to work and one incident where I picked up my daughter and she had developed a high fever but I was not called. The teachers had not noticed due to it being about 80 degrees out and the children were outside playing.) Overall, I felt these incidents were minor and I felt the teachers and director responded quickly and appropriately to my concerns. I think that as we get more time under our belt here (we have only been enrolled 6 months) and no further issues arise, I would be very comfortable amending this rating to a 5 star.

My daughter has grown and learned so much at her time "at school" and comes home saying new words and signing new signs and singing new songs almost every day. Most days she wants to keep playing when I come to pick her up. I've recommended this location to other friends looking for child care centers - we're happy with our decision to go with P&L in Bryn Mawr and look forward to our daughter continuing to grow and learn throughout her time there. There is a wait list so I'd suggest checking it out and getting on the list as soon as possible.

Do not recommend this place for first time daycare kids…read more Neither the teachers nor the director is prepared to handle new kids. Will let the kid cry it out in their chair starting from Day 1. No compassion showed towards kids, nor the ability to teach kids. They can only handle daycare ready kids. So if your kid is new, be prepared to pick them up by 10am, since the crying new kid is disturbing the other children. Also, have backup child care, since the school can remove the child with no notice whatsoever.

The teachers genuinely care about the children, and it shows in the relationships they build with them. Some of the teachers have been here for many years, which I think says a lot about the environment and the consistency they provide for the kids. Any time I've had a question or concern, it's always been addressed quickly. I've always felt like my children were in good hands. Choosing a daycare is one of the hardest decisions you'll make as a parent, and I'm so thankful we found this one. I just LOVE Spring Valley YMCA. I take regular classes, CX WORKS, Body Flow, Spinning. I've tried…read moreCardio Fusion, Yoga and enjoyed Body Pump - until an injury cause me to stop. They have a beautiful spin studio. Also they upgrade their equipment, bikes, treadmills etc! Good stuff!! The teachers are encouraging, excellent and inspirational. They are reliable. I am a charter member and most of my instructors have stayed the same- a good thing!! Also the YMCA has contests and free programs to keep you on track. You can even get personal training too , one session or multiple sessions. The staff, for the most part, is very pleasant and helpful. I cannot stand the crowds in the afternoon, or on Saturday mornings. I couldn't even get on a weight bench - it was packed. Every treadmill in use so I recommend you go at "off times". I would be thrilled to see them open 24 hours a day but shudder to think how much more my membership would increase! Membership goes up every year and my newest rate will be over 90$ a month- a family membership. Very vey expensive. I wish they would offer a "non pool" membership. I'm paying a mint for stuff I'm not even using. It is so expensive that my son had to switch to LA Fitness which is half the price. They offer reduced memberships but be prepared to fill out mountains of paperwork & I'm sure you have to be poverty level to benefit. I rarely use the pool in the summer, it's insanely crowded. Don't expect to get a lounge chair either unless you are there really early. The pool is lovely, very "resort"-ish. You'll feel like you're on vacation. There are indoor pools too! Lap pool, family fun pool, there is a fabulous hot tub and a sauna too. All of which I've enjoyed. I love my YMCA- you can't put a price on your health. I'm there 5-7 times a week, I'll never switch gyms. You get what you pay for and I'm so happy that the YMCA is in our community- we really needed this. It's a great place to work out and I've met some very inspiring people at my YMCA.

My only complaint is that the indoor pool has been closed for a month which is ridiculously inconvenient and I wish the outdoor pool opened at 11 instead of 11:30. Outdoor pool guest passes are high at $12 per person per visit and the visitor can only come 3 times in a season. We love the gym and bathrooms/locker rooms are very clean.
