It is very rare for me to eat street food, but my partner wanted to try the Duck Burger when we were in Camden Market.
They opened about 3 weeks ago and offered Duck Burger, Hoisin Duck Wrap, Pulled Duck Bun, Duck Pastrami Bun, Crispy Duck Spring Rolls, etc. We tried the burger and the wrap. The burger had a thin slice of Ossau cheese which remained solid, and I am not sure if it worked. It also had balsamic onions, and again I didn't think it worked. The duck patty lacked flavour and needed some herbs/spices to jazz it up.
The wrap was much better. I asked them not to put raw green onions, so it came with shredded white cabbage & carrots and cucumber. The duck was meaty and went perfectly well with hoisin sauce.
They gave me a bit of pulled duck to sample. It was tender, sweet and fattier. I didn't choose it because I wasn;t keen to have boiled (?) cabbage and chopped pickles in the bun.
The location was chaotic - in the middle of Camden Market - but you can sit on one of the 6 (7?) stools inside to munch away your food. The chef was very informative and accomodating. If I am in Camden Market, I might eat the wrap again. read more
