The sand was clean and warm in between our toes. The water was clear and felt cool as the waves rushed to the shore and onto our feet. We had a leisurely stroll along the beach, just soaking up the nature goodness as it rejuvenated our spirit and soul and reminded us how small we all were compared to nature or to the universe. It was a truly relaxing experience. We also had fun looking for and finding zebra mussel shells and good skipping stones. The shells had gorgeous stripes on them. It was an awesome experience.

The first two years we rented the same RV, which did not have issues,and drop off and pickup went fine. This year they rented us a different vehicle. Within a half hour of delivery water was leaking all over the floor. We had to delay our workday for them to come back figure out the issue, go out and get a part and come back and fix it. On day 3, the bathtub filled with smelly, gross water. We called and they said the greywater tank had filled up - which seemed crazy to us because the only water we had used was for the four of us to brush our teeth. None of us had showered, etc. Still, we paid for the campsite manager to come and pump the greywater out ($80!). The sensor also showed the freshwater tank was empty so we paid another $80 for the campsite to bring the truck to fill it up - but when they hooked up they said the tank was practically full. So, we wasted that $80 and it proved that we had barely used any water. Also, the sensor was broken, which we had not been told. We honestly weren't going to bring any of it up, but then Jim texted that he was going to charge us a cleaning fee. We had asked about cleaning and he said "nice but not necessary." Still, we made sure all the dirty linens were in one place, all the trash was bagged and ready to be takenout, etc. We are all adults and had barely been in the RV (12+ hour work days) so it really wasn't messy. Getting charged a cleaning fee on top of already having to lose time because they didn't check that they were delivering a working RV and having to pay $160 because they hadn't emptied out the grey water and had broken sensors, really felt like adding insult to injury, so we let Jim know everything that had happened and ask him to make it right. He absolutely refused, poo-pooed our issues, claimed no responsibility for anything and charged us the cleaning fee. The character of a company is shown when things go wrong.Things went wrong and instead of making it right, this company made it worse. Do not give them your business.

We rented a side-by-side for a two-hour ride and ended up being charged $272 for a broken belt,…read moreeven though the company told us it had just been replaced the day before. We were told the charge would be only for the part, but the invoice from the shop showed the belt was $219.34. When I asked about the difference, they said labor and tax were included -- but those weren't supposed to be charged to us. They shifted blame, didn't take any responsibility, and were not transparent about the charges. After seeing other reviews, it looks like this isn't a one-time thing -- they seem to have a pattern of refusing to work with customers when something goes wrong. Absolutely Terrible!

Verlander punched his ticket out of purgatory to win a title with the cheatin' Astros. But poor old Miguel Cabrera was stuck being a future Hall of Famer languishing with the damn Bad News Bears. That's kind of how it seems having a roller coaster like Shivering Timbers at a park like Michigan's Adventure. This ride is a masterpiece! Hill after hill after hill with each crest delivering delicious, diabolical airtime. There's a bad pothole at the bottom of the second hill but beyond that it's not that rough for a wooden coaster of its size. It's big and long, cutting an imposing figure over the parking lot. The logo might even be more handsome than the coaster itself. No other ride in the park had guests so hyped. One little girl returning to the station was absolutely shook by its intensity. Like her whole body was vibrating and it seemed like she was trying to decide if she really liked what she had just experienced or if it was just too much. Then there was the dude in the Holiday World hat, Six Flags Great America shirt and Kings Island fanny pack shamelessly reveling in coaster freak nerdiness, no doubt marathoning this airtime machine. When Corkscrew returned to the station and the ride mc gave the classic "Welcome back, riders! How was your ride on Corkscrew?" my trainload barely managed a peep. The same call and response routine on Shivering Timbers brought some serious decibels and enthusiasm. I knew ST delivered plenty of airtime but I was taken a bit by surprise by how intense the helix is at the end. Absolutely wild! I rode Shivering Timbers twice on my recent trip to MA, once near the back and once in the front row and it delivered thrilling, intense rides both times. I kept my hands up the whole time in the front row and I don't know if I'd do that again. My noggin did get a bit rattled from that; hands up in the front row was rougher than hands down near the rear of the train. After some time in the water park I returned to Shivering Timbers hoping to ride at least two or three more times. Unfortunately this park's signature attraction (for coaster lovers at least) was experiencing some downtime so I hopped on some lame midway ride and hightailed it out of the park as I had a long way north to drive to join some friends for camping before sunset. (Can't miss those Lake Michigan sunsets!) As I drove my way out of the Michigan's Adventure parking lot I saw the mighty Shivering Timbers thundering its way through its course packed with riders again. D'oh! Can't win em all, I guess. I'm at least glad I got to ride ST twice. If Michigan's Adventure didn't have this ride I probably wouldn't have even bothered with this park, and that's coming from a lifelong Michigander with a soft spot for his home state.

That's like almost 40 years of…read moreloving and riding any and all roller coasters I could find from Disney land to Disney world...from mall parking lot carnivals to state/ county fairs, 6 flags and everything in between. This is the ONLY coaster I have hated. We rode every ride in the park then rode shivering timbers before riding the others a second time. Well, it ended up being our last ride. All of us including our 13 year old had to leave and went straight home after this one. It isnt scary. It doesn't do anything more than most wooden coasters by way of thrill..what it does do, though, is slam your body all over the place, whip your head and neck around while providing no neck support. It comes off the tracks and comes back down with a spine cracking thud over and over and over. Had I been able to, I would have gotten off halfway through. This is poorly engineered and I am shocked the park hasn't been sued by someone more litigious than I for back and neck injuries over this ride.
