In August of 2016 my now husband proposed to me. We decided we wanted to have a short engagement and just throw one awesome party celebrating us. Mind you we just moved to Michigan 3 months earlier and therefore wanted to have our wedding back in New Jersey close to our family and friends. After we found our venue we were fortunate enough to get Candice's information from our banquet manager. Candice helped make our day come true. From the first time we talked over to the phone to meeting in person only a month before the wedding it was perfect. Candice helped us through what we really need for a wedding and what type of look we were going for. After talking on the phone and looking over her website I decided why am I going to tell her what to do, she is an artist. On the day of the wedding Candice brought in our bouquets and they were absolutely breathtaking. The colors were so rich; dark red, purple, pink and to top it off there was Kale. My bouquet was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and giving Candice artist license was the best choice I could have ever made. We worked with Candice for our wedding on January 5, 2019. From the start she was very responsive, had creative suggestions, and designed beautiful arrangements for us. Initially we provided her with inspiration images correlating to the general idea of what we liked. and she quickly put together a visual digital booklet, personalized and detailed for every aspect of the floral designs we were interested in. Since she had excellent communication and was transparent with pricing, she came up with solutions to better accommodate our budget. We were so happy with her advice and recommendations, so it became an easy decision for us to choose Duchess Florals for our wedding. A few months before the wedding, we had a meeting with Candice to go over everything for our wedding. She's so friendly and personable! We discussed our specific requests regarding color and some flower choices, but we pretty much left the rest of the arrangements up to her. She was very clear of her vision and showed us visuals for everything she proposed, so we were able to finalize our designs at that meeting. It was so easy to work with her, there wasn't much homework or too much need to e-mail back & fourth leading up to the meeting, however if we had a question, she had a fast response time. Before our wedding Candice went above and beyond for us. She scheduled a walk-through with our venue coordinator and took a trip up to our venue, which was pretty distant from her shop. Our coordinator reached out to us and complimented Candice on her inquiries and punctuality. As for her talent, everything on the day of my wedding looked stunning. Candice of Duchess Florals is great! We hired her to design the wedding flower arrangements, huppah, and table centerpieces for our wedding this past autumn, and she was great to work with. We had a single face-to-face meeting where we showed her a color scheme we wanted to use, different kinds of unconventional plants and flowers that we wanted her to include (kale, winter cabbage, etc), and concepts for huppah. She took the time to get to know who we were, and she ran with our ideas and brought our vision to life! She's not afraid to think outside the box and be creative to get the details just right, and she commits herself to one wedding per day, so you get her complete and undivided attention. Candice at Duchess Florals did all of the floral arrangements, boutonnieres, and bouquets for my wedding on May 16, 2015 at Sayen House and Gardens in Hamilton, NJ. Candice was fantastic to work with, from first contact on Thumbtack, to finished product. During our first meeting, she really listened to what I wanted, took notes, and was more than happy to go over my Pinterest posts about flowers. She was very knowledgeable about what was in season, what would look good together, and even gave me suggestions of more budget-friendly options that would look similar to some of the more expensive flowers I liked! When coming to make the final payment, Candice explained some of the flowers I liked had been unavailable because of variations in growing season, and went over more options with me, even showing me pictures so I could choose what I liked. I really appreciated this. It would have been easier for her not to mention it, or to change it herself, but I really appreciated being involved in the process, and the care she put in to making sure everything was perfect! Candice went out of her way to visit my venue before the event to help her plan the arrangements. She was right on time with the delivery the day of the wedding, not only delivering our centerpieces to the venue, but also delivering our bouquets right to our hotel so we could start taking pictures. It was very warm the day of our wedding, so she was thoughtful enough to wait inside the venue to put our ceremony arrangements outside at the last minute so they wouldn't wilt. Candice added special touches that were a wonderful surprise the day of the wedding. My husband's boutonniere had an extra touch of color to differentiate him from the groomsmen. She also added small jars with succulents that she had left over from our bouquets that added a lovely touch of decoration to the bar and some of the small areas of our venue. I had provided vases for the wedding, and for my own bouquet. Candice added a lovely bow with an adorable wood-burned charm with our initials on it and the date, and had the same charm on our flower girl basket. It's a lovely keepsake we will treasure! I initially hired Candice based on her floral designs but as we worked together over a year, she became my event designer as well. We had so much faith in Candice, that I got to let go and not be a Bridezilla. She understood me, what I was looking for and we could tell, she really wanted to bring my vision to life. Candice, my Mother & I spent so much time together planning out my romantic, candle lit pastel rainbow wedding and it was STUNNING! She provided all the vendors we needed for linens, chairs, a romantic tufted love seat for myself and the groom and all our ceremony and reception decor. My flowers were a pastel rainbow and I had my heart set on Peonies, specifically Sarah Berndhart peonies (a gorgeous shade of pink, my fav color). Being a July bride in the tri-state, that meant no local vendors would have them. Did Candice bat an eye at that? Of course not! She had them flown in from Alaska and they were EVERYTHING!!! I grow them in my own yard and the quality she received was better than what I grow. So, so many of our guests came up to us before and after the wedding and said they had never attended a wedding so beautiful, so elegant and had never seen so much attention paid to the details. I was told that in my family, it is considered the Wedding of the Decade :o) From our initial consultation to the site visit (2x) to our mock-up/trial run appointment to the day of, including all the calls and emails in between, Candice was an ANGEL! No ask was too big or too small. She was enthused to work with us and out of all our vendors, she is the one we grew the closest to; Candice is now our family.
