The caring center is the only day care we've had our son in, and it's the only one we've needed. We…read morestarted there when he turned 2, and he is about to turn 8 and still attends after school programs. It is a Christian daycare but does not proselytize, it simply incorporates good values. It stays up to date with teaching styles, especially since it became one of several daycares in the area to partner with the school district in hosting 4k. One year, our son was having some struggles, and we looked around at alternatives but decided to instead switch him to the montessori program, which was perfect. That program is something special, run by the extremely patient and competent Ms. Erin, and it is even available with the 4k program. Every problem we've had had been taken seriously and handled delicately. I would recommend this to anyone.

To address the previous reviewer's comments: The staff is largely the same as it has been the entire time we've been with the school. Any childcare/school has turnover and the staff that are the Lead Teachers and caregivers have been the same the 5 years we have been there. The children in the 3-6 year old range do switch rooms throughout the day but that is due to split between children who are beginning to learn to write and read and those who are not quite ready for that yet. They have plenty of free choice time as well has many activities that are learning exercises that they feel are so fun they don't realize they are working. My oldest child was well on his way to 2nd/3rd grade math before he even entered the public kindergarten. Beyond all of this, my children are well loved and cared for and treated like family.

My son has learned a lot of daily skills (putting on his shoes and jacket, washing his hands, setting the table, pick up his own toys, to name a few). Many of the teachers have been working at Greenway for many years. The principal has many great ideas, like for example, this year all the children presented their art work as in a gallery; very impressive! The playground is large and the children work independently in so many projects.

Omg I was fuming today. Caleb, who just turned 3, had his first day back at daycare the other day…read more I get a call today from the head of the daycare saying that he isn't allowed back because he won't keep his mask on and is running around the room. Ok? I explain he doesn't leave the house and isn't used to wearing a mask so maybe give it another day? Oh no then she says his speech is too delayed to continue there? Knowing he's waiting for classes to open up. Wtf! He's 3 lady and your a "school" so you claim. No help offered, just he's delayed and not welcome back. How rude and evil. Agghh some people shouldn't teach! Well don't worry my child won't be back where he's not wanted.

I wonder if this school is still "suspending" or "expelling" 3 year olds for ... wait for it…read more.. behaving like 3 year olds? Because when my son was there, this was actually a fairly common practice. Several children from my son's age group were routinely sent home for "bad behavior," which amounted to normal kid behavior. The school is also very proud of the fact that they don't do "special education," which is an odd thing to be proud of, IMO.

Though named and marketed as Montessori, the principles, education, and structure are not present…read more Rather, this is a childcare center where teachers do whatever they want and leave the actual work of caring for children to the part time and non-lead-teachers. There are frequent times when the leadership team - made up of the owner and the "front desk" is unavailable or out of the office for extended period of time. The children and families are great, and really deserve the best care possible for their kids! But, if you're looking for an actual, practicing Montessori, and a place that works with the ICCSD & University of Iowa schedules, I'd recommend to keep searching until you find somewhere that feels right for your family.
