At this time of year, there's amazing colorful flowers all-around. In San Ramon, we're quite spoiled -- there's a lot of parks with Central Park being the premiere of 'em all. It's no Central, but very nice, and sweet, indeed.

Down the road is the Wallis Ranch Community park where there are basketball and tennis courts. Highly recommend this spot for all ages!

Since there are SO MANY play areas and structures to explore and enjoy, I have never heard her say she is bored. Our daughter can exist here for hours with snacks and water at hand. Kids are ALWAYS here so it is easy to find a playmate, if needed, for the day. There are restrooms directly behind the big play area with multiple stalls. It is well maintained and usually stocked. There are lots of benches, both with and without backs, surrounding the various play areas. There are numerous hammocks surrounding the park (closest to the swing area).. Be careful not to get too relaxed and misplace your lil one(s). It gets pretty hot out here and with the absence of shaded benches, bring a blanket to sit beneath a tree or an awning and chairs if you're fancy. Parking is directly outside the park. With ample parking it is difficult to not find a spot. During summer months it gets a little harder do arrive early. A grass area separates play from parking. There are plenty of bike racks as well. If you do not feel like driving the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station is a 12 minute walk away. If we ever explored this option I would have to bring a wagon. After play I doubt our little one would want to trek the journey. There are very few food options nearby so definitely come with snacks and drinks. There are working water fountains throughout the park (not refill stations). Come, enjoy! You can make a day of play here without spending a dime.

It looks like you are going nowhere, but eventually you'll go uphill and start to see new housing developments. The park is on the right side. This park is gorgeous. It contains bathrooms (yay!) and several play structures for various ages. Seating is ample, and there are covered picnic tables. The only downside is that this place will be roasting in the summer. There is no shade on the play structures themselves and the substrate is recycled rubber, which really reflects the heat.

This is a quaint little farm in San Ramon that's open to the public (free). We came here with a…read moretoddler, who was a bit frighten by the animals at first, but eventually warmed up to them. They are all very gentle and just roaming around in their enclosed area. There is a horse, sheep, lamb, a goat, and some chickens. This is not a petting zoo. We came here on a Saturday and ran into the couple that runs the farm. They were eager to tell us all about the farm, its history, and current events happening at the farm. (Almost) every Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. there is a free event, such as art with corn, ice cream making, rug weaving etc. See their website for schedule of events. They also have a tractor museum with many tractors restored by volunteers. Because we had a toddler with us, we had to cut our visit short and didn't get to check out the gift shop and the tour of the Victorian house (tours Saturdays at 12:00 pm and 1pm). We brought a picnic lunch and sat at one of several picnic tables scattered throughout the farm. It was a fun and educational outing, and we'll probably come back again.

Tucked away in the Godlen Eagle gated community, Augustin Bernal Park is truly an eastbay hidden…read moregem. It's a 237 acre part on the east side of the Pleasanton Ridge. Its boundaries include the EBRPD Pleasanton Ridge regional park. It seems the park was gifted to the city around 1971 but its history (and name) date back to the Spanish settler who originally owned the land. This is one of the few shaded hikes I found in the east bay hills that offers really good views and some perfect hiking loops. There's also mountain bike trails with some being only for bikers and equestrian trails as well. The only issue that makes this a less-than-perfect park is the access. This year, they started requiring non-residents of Pleasanton to have a pass which is now on a fee basis; if you're a resdient of Pleasanton then it's no big deal to get in. I know there is a another access point via walking on Longview drive and that used to be no permit required but I have not tried it recently. Technically, one could also hike here from the Pleasanton Ridge regional park via the ridgeline trail too. At the time of this review, it seemed to be 10 dollars for a week pass via https://www.cityofpleasantonca.gov/your-community/parks-trails/ .

Parking was easy to find on a Friday afternoon, near the playground side of the park. Two playgrounds, for ages 2-5 and 5-12, consisted of swings and climbing structures, the play area small and simple just like the park itself. A well maintained wide open grassy meadow provided plenty of space for sports or picnicking, though not shaded as trees were mainly at the borders of the park. There were however a few picnic tables available under a pergola, so a bit of shade there. The place isn't huge, but it was large enough to get a good workout, running laps along the concrete trail lining the park. A few benches for visitors to sit and relax while on the path as well. Unfortunately, a swarm of gnats and mosquitos in the air too, on this warm and pleasant day with spring season approaching. No restrooms nor access to the clubhouse and lounge area attached to the park, except for Sorrento owners/residents. But the Piazza Tasso community facility and surrounding townhomes featured eye-catching italian style architecture, adding some charm to the place. My favorite part, I found a hare and tortoise sundial sculpture on site, which was simply adorable.
