Ok so this restaurant is well-situated, has a very apt ambience and a nice view of the area from the top floor. I give them 3 stars because of the slow service. We came here as a part of a group tour of about 30 people and separately as a single family. Both times, the speed of service was disappointing. The food itself is pretty good. We had several vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries, naan, rice, samosas, aloo Chaat and chai. Even the Turkish coffee was pretty decent. The price is reasonable I think. We would just like faster service. Definitely check out the view from the fourth floor if you're not able to get seated there. read more

We had Dal makhani, aloo jeera with roti, naan and lasoon naan. The breads were fresh and the curries tasted good , just a little more seasoning would have made them taste even better. Service was good and the ambiance is nice with good street atmosphere. read more

Was craving some Indian food while in Istanbul and this place was one of the only ones on Yelp so I trusted it, but it was pretty rough. I have high standard for Indian food (specifically north indian food) because I've had it in a lot of different places and have experienced nearly the entire spectrum of quality. This place was not very good. I had the Paneer makhani (a staple for me - either makhani or tikka masala), but it was nothing like the high quality curry I have in the states. The gravy was not creamy at all and I honestly thought they had made the dish with tomato soup straight up and added no cream. The paneer, as is common in a lot of low quality Indian restaurants, did not mix well with the curry and were not fried or sautéed or anything. They just were not cooked enough. The naan was pretty good so somewhat saved the meal, but not by much. I also had the mango lassi as a drink, but that also tasted weird too had way too much milk in it. It wasn't that sweet and had a strange after taste. Overall, I would say, stick to eating and enjoying the Turkish food in Istanbul - you are much more likely to enjoy it than another country's cuisine. read more

Great location but food not so great. Close to Aya Sofia on a cute side street lined with restaurants. Saw several Indian tourists coming in for a taste of home. Unfortunately the food was bland and lacked the authentic flavors we craved. Service was efficient and cordial. read more

Excellent Indian food. A great place to stop and eat if you're looking for a change from the limitless kebab options. But, if you or your travel mates are looking for kebab options, Dubb offers both an Indian and Turkish menu. And both looked excellent. I had a hard time deciding myself, but I went with the chicken tikka masala. Delicious. I asked for it spicy, but by my standards, it did not come out spicy. Oh well. It was still great. With a heavy heart I must write that I will never visit Dubb again. The service was great but this isn't Indian food. We ordered: - Chicken Tikka (fusion?) very tender meat - Chicken Tikka masala - more like a sweet chicken karahi - Kuchunber Salad (not Indian) - Chaat (not Indian) - Naan - chai was karak The food wasn't bad but it didn't have the spice or the kick I was looking for. We were getting a little tired of Turkish food after a week, and found Dubb. Really good food and they delivered to our hotel. We asked for the food to be spicy, and it was really tasty. Went to this place in September when my family and I were on vacation because we were tired of Turkish food and went to this place specifically to try a nice Indian place in a nice location. We sat all the way upstairs where there is a beautiful view of the Blue Mosque. Which was really pleasant. When handed our menus we could not find any Indian food :( Very disappointed we ordered Turkish food and all looked at each other with confusion. Later an Indian family came in and were given different menus. They DO have Indian food! We were very disappointed and embarrassed to be stereotyped as "dumb americans". The Turkish food was fine, don't get me wrong, but we came for something different. This has at least taught me to SPEAK UP when you think something and are given another. You would think that at an Indian restaurant they would at least give you one of each menu. But instead we were looked upon as "dumb americans" who just walked into the first place with a balcony. read more

Lovely terrace, beautifully decorated and it has all the standard attractive features of what you find in Sultanahmet touristy spot. Service is decent. It is also quite expensive, but again that's par for the course in Sultanahmet. Ask for the Indian menu specifically if you want Indian food than some mix of Indian, Turkish and other ethnic foods. Also ask for them to make things spicy, otherwise it is going to be ridiculously bland--most things in Turkey are very, very mild and have no heat and that's what these folks are catering to. We got: Mango Lassi Tandoori Jhankar (veggie kebab), Chandi ki Mohren (Cheese kabab) Vegetable Korma Shabnam curry (Mushroom & Peas curry) Daal Tadka (Lentil curry) Begum Biryani (Veggie Biryani) Naan Raita Kachumber salad (Indian cucumber, tomato, onion and lemon salad). Mango Lassi was pretty bad. It wasn't sweet, it wasn't cold enough and it didn't taste anything remotely resembling mango. Veggie kebab was nice, the cheese kebab on the other hand was literally just toasted feta/mild Turkish cheese with some mint flavoring. The description said paneer (Indian cheese), but when it came I realized that all cheese in Turkish is called peynir. There were no potatoes in the cheese kebab as described. Pretty disappointing. The korma, curry and daal were excellent. The daal was especially good. Naan was pretty good. Biryani was good, although again--quite mild. Raita wasn't raita but something of a cross between lebneh, cacik and mast-o-khiyar. Whatever it was, it did not resemble raita at all. Kachumber salad was okay. We were out over 200 Turkish liras (over $110). For the price, quality and for the fact that it is the only Indian restaurant around, it was okay. Nothing exceptional but not bad either. Unless you really, really want a break from Turkish food and/or desperately craving Indian food, I would give the place a pass. read more

I've been to Istanbul 3 times and I always pop in here for a meal or two per visit. Its located close to the Blue Mosque. Public transportation is right around the corner from this restaurant. Every time I have been here the service has been great for us. Waiters were prompt and knowledgeable. The food is pretty good. It definitely fills your craving for Indian food while in town. They do not serve naan/roti in the afternoon to cool down their clay ovens. So go there for lunch or dinner hours. Its is priced a wee bit higher than expected BUT its nothing ridiculous either. Try and snag a seat on their 4th floor terrace which overlooks the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Will definitely be back! read more

I was recommended Dubb by an Indian friend who used to live in Istanbul. SO I followed his suggestion. We went there on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm. And apparently that's important. Location wise, it's centrally located. So it should be a breeze to find the street. But I had to ask for nearby shopkeepers to find the exact spot - it turns out I was standing right in front of it. The restaurant is a multi-floor building with very narrow stairs. So if you don't fancy narrow streets or are having climbing up/down this is not a place for you. We went to top terrace floor with gorgeous view of the see and Sultanahmet square. There were in total 5 tables on the terrace floor and 4 of them were busy. But alas all other floors were totally empty. I'd say the decor is pretty spartan - nothing fancy nor eye-catching. But it doesn't mean it doesn't have a charm. But most of it comes from the view. Service was a bit slow. There was one waiter with a tablet - and he was the only one capable of taking orders with his tablet. It took us ~10 minutes or so to be able to place orders. The waiter had a stern face, but once he started to talk he actually was a pleasant person. Food wise I can only partially talk. First of all, the tandoor was closed between 2:30 and 6:00 pm. So forget ordering tandoori chicken, naan, or roti on those times. That was a major bummer for me. I was salivating for naan and roti driving up there. But sometimes things happen. So we ordered 4 main courses: - Hyderabad Biryani. The portion was big but the lamb inside was probably mutton and as a Turk I prefer lamb. The taste was also not up to the par. So one minus. - Rice with cummin. I wasnt necessarily impressed but many other people did. So this one is a plus. - Masala Tikka. This was homerun. Fantastic taste. Big thumbs up. - Anohter lamb curry dish which I can't remember the name. Same problem as the Biryani. The lamb/mutton was bland and chewy. So this one get a minus from me. All in all, the food and other aspects were barely up to my expectations. Last - but not least - I found the place expensive for what I have received in return. I rated the price range as moderate. WIth a hankering for something non Turkish one night, our friends in Istanbul told us to check out Dubb nearby. Knowing Istanbul, I was a bit skeptical because this place is located in a tourist area behind the Blue Mosque. I live in a city with a large Indian population where I can get good, cheap Indian food fairly easily. I have to say that knowing Istanbul's almost xenophobic stance on non-Turkish food places, that I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It really is pretty good Indian food. The only downside to this place is the price as it's a little expensive. However, as probably one of the few Indian places in town, at least in the immediate area and being in a tourist area, what do you expect? The place is also quite nice. The terrace is lovely to sit out on during a nice evening and the interior is nice rustic. All in all, if you're in the area and want a little escape from Turkish/Ottoman food, check this place out. read more

Got lured in by a friendly host who speaks English. Empty inside. But we were hungry so didn't think otherwise. Food, absolutely bad. We ordered steak sirloin kebab. Sent us a plate of meat that taste like lamb which my friend can't eat lamb at all. After we both took a few bite, even me as meat lovers, it was so salty and gamey. We asked the guy what meat it was, he could hardly explain but we did catch the word lamb. I asked him to bring the menu and point it to him that dish shouldn't have lamb. He shrugged and asked ," u don't like it?" I said, " my friend can't eat lamb and we ordered beef!!" He shrugged again and walked away. Ordered martini, delivered some weird sweet tasting drink served in martini glass over ice. Tasted nasty. And bill, is bad. Such bad experience first night. read more

Located in the heart of Sultanahmet, Dubb Indian is a fantastic find! Indian, and really any foreign food, is few and far between in my fair city. Dubb however offers decently priced (nothing that will empty your wallet) food with a nice view. Word on the street is that they have a open buffet for lunch! Be sure to try their veggie curry dishes and of course the garlic naan. Enjoy the enclosed roof with views of the marmara sea and hagia sophia. I would easily go back to Dubb when my "I need something more then turkish food" taste buds kick in. read more

We visited this restaurant to try something other than standard Turkish fare(May 2012). It was a busy restaurant, but we were able to get a table on the top floor. We had a view of Aya Sofia. The service wasn't too great- service was a bit slow and the waiter also forgot some things that we ordered. In addition, he originally let us know that if something was too spicy, he'd take it off the bill and provide something else. We weren't sure when this offer was going to no longer be "valid"- by the time we got his attention to tell him that one dish was too spicy, he said that it was "too late" and he couldn't take it off our bill or replace it with something else. Other than the waiter, the experience was good and the food was good with plentiful portions (but a bit spicy for some in our party). read more

This place is really over rated on Yelp. Not the best Indian food, but the only Asian restaurant in the touristy area close to the Blue Mosque. Food was bland and came out cold. Service quality was consistently slow. Then again, I was comparing it to an American standard. I see other Indians complaining, so I can't be the only one noticing it being bad. Need to ask customers how was the food, anything else I can do for you, etc... Definitely on the pricey side (tourist trap). Will hesitate going back again unless I am desperate for Asian rice. :( read more

Exactly what I was looking for - a break from kebabs etc. I had an excellent butter chicken dish preceded by an equally good vegetable pakora. Something's to watch out for; the stairs - it's quite a climb up a narrow and steep spiral staircase to the 4th floor but well worth it for the view of Hagia Sophia; the menus - when we sat down the waiter just gave us a Turkish menu so we had to ask for the Indian menu. I did hear him offer some people both so don't know why he assumed I wouldn't want Indian. Maybe I looked too American (I'm a Brit). Bottom lime - good place, good food, good view. read more

I can't say enough good things about our experience here tonight. Came with eight people including kids. They took us up to the roof level, and our waiter Hamdin climbed out onto the roof to open the windows and patiently take pictures of the group for us. Needless to say the view was as good as advertised by the other Yelp reviews, but I wouldn't write the review of the food weren't also wonderful. I 've eaten quite a bit of Indian food at home in Manhattan and all our the world (including India and Bangladesh). Dubb definitely holds it's own. The samosas were nicely sized and crispy. Preferred the tomato-based soup to the mulugatawny. For mains I enjoyed the Kadhi Murgh and Vindaloo (both chicken and lamb) Naan was cooked just right. Living in Istanbul there aren' t a lot of opportunities for ethnic cuisine. This restaurant came highly recommended. We went about 5:30 for a late lunch and ordered off of the Indian menu. We were told the naan would not be available until 6 o'clock due to the oven being off. But then the waiter said he would see what he could do and was able to include the naan in our meal. We had samosas, palak paneer, chickpea masala, cumin rice, butter naan, garlic naan and a lamb dish in red sauce. The lamb was very gamey we didn't care for the dish. The cumin rice was very good. The panner was very dry. The garlic naan had a very raw garlic taste that lingered well into the next day. Boo. The entire meal was VERY salty. But, the options in Istanbul are limited and I have to say I will probably return. The service was really good, the waiter was attentive and friendly. The whole meal for 1 app, 1 meat course, 1 veg course and one bean course as well as rice, 2 naans, water and 2 cokes was about 120 lira. Not outrageous.
