I really wanted to like this place since it came recommended by a friend, but the experience was…read morequite disappointing. I stopped by craving a samosa and decided to order both samosa and dabeli. While I was waiting, I asked the person at the counter if the samosas were fresh, and he said yes. They quickly packed them up, and I didn't think much of it at the time. I did notice the dabeli being assembled fresh, though it was made on sesame buns (looked like regular grocery store buns), which already felt off for anyone who knows how a dabeli is made. What really threw me off was seeing a tray of frozen Deep samosas being pulled out to heat up. I asked again about freshness and got a confusing explanation about how they're made fresh and then send it to Deep to be frozen, which didn't quite add up. At that point, I was honestly frustrated and quite irriated about the lies, but chose to just take the order and leave. I can't speak for everything on the menu, but the samosas are definitely not freshly made. They're also quite small for the price, and the dabeli felt overpriced for what it was. If you're looking for truly fresh snacks, it's worth being a bit mindful about what you order here.

Their shelf stable section is definitely the best part of the store and they have a huge selection. They could do better with more groceries and more frozen goods but I do understand that the demand of that may not be too high. The little restaurant in the store ia great and makes one of the best samosa's. Their prices are a bit high but that is the cost of convenience. Overall we would go to prime foods before we go to JSQ anyday!

Teso - They have my faves!

With a long anticipated opening, Teso's new location in Jersey City did not disappoint. I had such…read morea fun time at the new Teso location! The hours are 12-8pm daily. They are open every day. The shelves are stocked from floor to ceiling and the aisles are narrow. It's just a few inches larger on both sides than the white hand-baskets that you can grab when you walk in. There is houseware, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, snacks, toys, convenience foods, and drinks. Their cold section has lots of mochi and a wide range of beverages. The staff helped me locate a few items, like the bilateral heated shoulder pads. They had three different heating pad options in different parts of the store, so I was thankful for the help locating things. Typically, I'd travel to Edgewater for a few favorite items - Black brand coffee, Ito-en bottled tea, rice snacks (minoya kaki no tane), Bourbon's Tree Stumps! Teso offers more Japanese options than I can typically find at 99 Ranch. I spent just over $50 and was given a free 88oz BB Laboratories PH Moist Washing foam, which was a really great surprise! I can't wait to give it a try! Thank you to the Teso Jersey City team for making this first trip delightful.
