    Factory Arts District

    Factory Arts District

Formerly known as Circle City Industrial Complex, Factory Arts District continues its journey…read moretoward being one of Indy's premiere destinations for those seeking out art, entertainment, dining, alcohol and more all in one very large destination. Located on Indy's near-eastside not too far from the Bottleworks District, Factory Arts District is really two set apart districts - north and south, though the "south" section is still in development. Truthfully, this entire complex always seems to be growing. This former auto factory is spread out over 16 acres with such well known Indy establishments as Fowling Warehouse, 8th Day Distillery, 500 Festival Foundation, Glass Arts Indiana, Centerpoint Brewing, Indy Film Fest, Dance Kaleidoscope and more. Additionally, the Factory Arts South is going to be offering increased dining options and quite a bit more. Factory Arts District is the place to go for First Fridays. They offer affordable studios and quite the large art community here with just about every single time of artist you can imagine. Where have I been here? Centerpoint Brewery is easy to access with decent parking a surprisingly good accessibility. Indy Film Fest is very much the same way - I should note that their office is here. This is not where screenings are held. I've been to Salt & Ash Market, Lick Ice Cream, the 500 Festival Foundation offices, 8th Day Distillery (for a Yelp event!), and Full Circle 9 Gallery. Strangely enough, I've yet to visit Fowling Warehouse. There's two free parking lots. The building itself is a historic building - and yes, there are some access issues around (especially with curbs). However, it's such a wonderful complex and such a gift to Indy artists that I can't imagine giving it anything less than 5 stars. Check the website and visit the vendor map. You'll be blown away. Definitely visit for First Fridays!

I have been here twice and still have not seen all that the Factory Arts District has to offer. I…read morehave walked through the part that has the art studios in it and also a couple of shops. I have also dined at Legacy Tokyo situated at the end or beginning depending on how you look at it. There is a lot of art hanging on the walls outside of the numerous studios. Not exactly sure how many studios there are but I stopped by and talked to an artist who was in her studio getting ready for a class and she said to make sure to stop by there on First Friday's. I have now made plans to do just that on June 5th from 6pm - 9pm. The artist I spoke to was Aimee Bruno and she offers classes and you can check her out on her website aimeebruno.com. The night I was there she was teaching an alcohol ink class. Hopefully I find a lot of fun things to do on First Friday.

Siena Baldi - D'lish at the Beach mural surrounded by tropical plants

We commissioned Siena to create a mural for our beachside cafe & bar at Iroquois Point and let me…read moretell you we were not disappointed! The whole process from start to finish was seamless, we collaborated on the design and within days she had a rendering ready for us and started work the very next weekend, working from early in the morning until late in the day, and she completed the job earlier than scheduled and it was exactly the same as the rendering. In short Siena was professional, on time (actually early) and delivered exactly what she promised, you've gotta love that In a sea of people who over promise and under deliver Siena is a gem, I highly recommend her.

Siena designed and painted an abstract piece for our garage door in downtown Indianapolis. With our color theme in mind, she did thumbnail sketches in pencil, offering us 8 options to get a sense of what overall feel we liked. From the thumbnail, she worked up an entire composition to the scale of our door. We got to see a couple of color variations as it was in process and loved the one she landed on. I asked to come along when she purchased paint and watching her work from her design with the paint swatches in hand was a delight. She put together the perfect palette and her knack for getting just the right color was obviously a developed skill. Seeing her freehand the design onto the garage door was a marvel - I imagined there must be projectors involved, but she was able to transfer the design just using the panels of the door as a grid. Working diligently from morning to evening, it took three days to finish the mural and at the end, it was exactly like the mockup she had provided! Absolutely incredible experience, I am filled with joy every time I approach my garage.
