I initially had a great experience with Jaime Langer and genuinely believe she has strong design…read moreskills. However, my overall experience with her ended in deep disappointment and frustration. If you choose to work with her, do not let her refer you to Hummingbird HRD (Crystal and Brian Mansanares), as that is where everything unraveled. Jaime first helped me after a Christmas morning plumbing disaster, and at the outset, she was fantastic--quick to respond, knowledgeable, and actively engaged in creating thoughtful layouts. Because things seemed to be going well, we also hired her for additional design work in our kitchen and living room. But when she referred us to Hummingbird as the general contractor, she stepped away entirely, leaving us in the hands of an inexperienced team that led to an overpriced, incomplete, and poorly executed renovation. Where Things Went Wrong Jaime and Crystal turned out to be personal friends rather than longtime collaborators, and our home was essentially a "guinea pig project"--a fact Jaime admitted only after things had gone terribly wrong. The staggering lack of professionalism from Hummingbird resulted in months of stress, wasted money, and a home that remains unfinished to this day. After Crystal declared the project "done" (despite glaringly poor workmanship), I asked Jaime to see the state of things herself. She agreed with me that the quality was unacceptable and even apologized for how badly things had turned out. She admitted that Crystal lacked the necessary experience and recognized that we had been unintentionally used as a test project. To make matters worse, she also told me, "Wow, I didn't realize you were so detail-oriented--I would feel exactly the same." As if they thought they could get away with subpar work and I wouldn't notice--truly insulting. Jaime's Final Disappointing Choice To her credit, Jaime convinced Crystal and Brian to attempt to fix their mess, but she ultimately abandoned the project. Despite personally acknowledging all the flaws, she later sent me a completely contradictory statement: "I have every faith in Hummingbird completing the project as promised, and overall, I believe they have done an exceptional job." This project was supposed to take 4-6 weeks starting in March--it was still dragging on in November, at which point I cut ties entirely because it was no longer worth the emotional toll. To this day, our home remains unfinished and cheap-looking, a painful reminder of the stress and financial loss we endured. What We Actually Got for Jaime's Fees After paying her design fees for both the bathroom and kitchen/living room, all we truly received was: * Layout options * A recommendation for Hummingbird (which proved disastrous) * Help selecting a kitchen table and rug Had we gone with a different general contractor, I might be writing a glowing five-star review. Unfortunately, given how this played out, I cannot recommend Jaime Langer at all.

Sometimes we all need another perspective and Jaime is a great design partner. Jaime is well known for her excellent staging work, but also consider her for interior design.

He kindly asked me to consider taking down my review but instead I wanted to just update it and give him a five star rating. He went out of his way to show his regret for the situation and I very much appreciate it how he handled everything. True professional. I hope to work with him on a future project. Previous review: I had been emailing with David to get pricing estimate as I was considering him for a project in our new house. Initially he was quick to respond and very friendly and helpful. However he then disappeared and stopped replying to any of my emails as I was looking to get further information. We ended up deciding to move forward with another contractor for this project, but I am a bit bummed that David disappeared as he seemed like someone who would do a solid job.

David, Aaron, and the rest of their crew were easy to work with from start to finish -- clear communication, very responsive, always on time, no surprises, no excuses. Just quality materials and quality workmanship at a fair price. David really listened to what we wanted and made sure we were fully satisfied. He was patient with us as we hemmed and hawed over details before starting the project ... but he got the job done quickly once we decided. I really appreciate David and Aaron's attention to detail. Despite the old decking being a warped mess and the joists being a bit uneven, they made sure that the new decking is level and that all boards align cleanly. The painting is fantastic as well -- they did an amazing job painting the accent trim, much cleaner lines than the painting company who repainted our house last year. Last but not least, they did an amazing job fixing our front door. Our house is 118 years old. I'm not sure how old the front door is, but probably well over 50 years. The clear-coat had worn off almost completely and the hinges sagged so that the door didn't swing smoothly and didn't latch properly. Aaron and his crew sanded and refinished the entry door and screen door so they look amazing, and re-hung the door so that it swings smoothly and latches easily. I had previously talked to a door contractor and two general contractors, and all of them said the door would need to be replaced. Aaron and his crew took care of it in just a few hours. And we get to keep our beautiful antique door! I highly recommend DW General Contractors and I look forward to working with them on our next project.

We hadn't used one before and told her that was fine because up until that point we had all got along great. She said she worked with Jodi many times before and so that's who we went with. To be frank: working with Jodi was the hardest part of selling our home. The reason for this was her communication skills lack a lot. This being our home, we felt we were a team, but very little we communicated to her actually stuck. She talked down to us over paint choices, she yelled and physically stamped her feet over the color our walls NEEDED to be, and on more than one occasion our realtor had to step in between both her and us to head one of her tiffs off at the pass. We get it.. "She" is the designer. But this is supposed to be a collaboration. It shouldn't come to yelling at any time simply because she disagrees. To make matters worse, many of the items she brought over to our house were actually broken. She needed glue or tape to fix them to make them tolerable to show. She even used a stained shower curtain in our shower. Gross. Lastly, the list of things she wanted us to do- had a bunch of things on it we flat out told her we would not be doing at our consult. Communication simply was just.. Lacking at every step here. I don't understand these reviews calling her easy to get along with or easy to work with. Having sold and purchased homes before and being willing to try staging this time, my husband and I both agree that not only would we not recommend Jodi but the whole experience soured us on using a Stager again at all. If Jodi didn't know my realtor as a close personal friend, we would both (my husband and I) be very surprised. Terrible experience. If you must stage, save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

Kitchen Renovation - January-April 2023…read more Deciding to do a full kitchen renovation on our 1885 brick bungalow was an exciting decision for my wife and I to make after purchasing the home in the spring of 2022. With the current supply chain issues and labor shortages we knew that choosing the correct design/build firm was going to be the most important factor in this process for a successful outcome. During our initial meetings with Gina and Jamin (the Colorado Homes and Design/Earth Saving Solutions team) we quickly confirmed that we had chosen the right firm. As a retired executive chef, I had very specific requirements for our new kitchen. Gina took those ideas and presented us with a thoughtful design that incorporated an efficient layout with the premium materials we requested. As the project progressed we were very impressed with the emphasis on quality craftsmanship that Jose (project lead) and his team put into every aspect of our renovation, always making the extra effort to get it exactly right. When you are fully renovating a 135 year old space, you know that you are going to uncover some unexpected issues and we were certainly no exception. After some trail and error with our communication process, we dialed in our communication process between the whole team. We were able to navigate any and all issues quickly and move forward toward our project completion. From design to pre-con to final walk-through this team stepped up and made our dream kitchen a reality. For a renovation from simple to extensive, we would highly recommend Colorado Homes and Design/Earth Saving Solutions. Gina, Jamin and Jose exceeded all of our expectations. David and Deb

Colorado Homes and Design/Earth Saving Solutions made magic happen on our recent kitchen remodel…read more The pictures speak for themselves- the transformation is truly remarkable. This is a company that works together as a team to make the entire process as easy as possible for the homeowner and I truly cannot recommend them enough. We have an 1800s bungalow with a ton of quirks and their collective efforts made our dream kitchen a reality in a way we were told wasn't possible by other designers and contractors. From the first meeting with Jamin and Gina I could just tell that this was exactly the type of company we needed to do our kitchen renovation. Gina, our wonderful designer, worked closely with me to provide multiple iterations of the design and cabinet options until we landed on our perfect kitchen design. She also did such a great job exactly identifying our style and helping select materials that matched with it perfectly. She went above and beyond in her communication with us and was always so kind, understanding and willing to pivot and adjust as we worked through all the design steps together. Jamin did an excellent job ensuring there was a clear through line between the design and then actually being able to make it happen. His title says sales but he really is a man who does it all and thinks about every part of the process. From making sure I was clear on the impact that moving the plumbing would have on a wall downstairs to literally getting in there and fixing a plumbing issue upstairs that, had he not identified the problem, could have caused my entire kitchen downstairs to be ruined by a flooded upstairs bathroom. And to be clear, the upstairs bathroom was not at all a part of the kitchen work but is a great example of how this company will go above and beyond. Brian, our project manager, held our hands through the entire process and made it so that anytime an issue would arise we could breath easy knowing that somehow he would magically just take care of it. I can't even imagine the amount of hours he put in working with the various contractors and subcontractors that came through our house and triple checking to make sure everything was exactly what we had planned for in the design. We never once had to take off from work to meet with someone because Brian did it all and we just got to come home at the end of the day and see the amazing work that Jose, the main contractor, and his team had done. Brian kept us in the loop with constant communication over text which was perfect for our busy work schedules and always put us at ease. I can't count the number of times I told someone how little stress I felt because I knew Brian would handle everything... which he always did! As for cost, CHD/ESS was so willing to work with me to get what I wanted on my budget. They gave me honest opinions and options but never pushed a product because it was a higher cost. It was clear they really wanted to do right by me and had a high level of integrity in determining what would work with my budget. They were transparent with every line item which is not something that all companies do. We will definitely be using this fabulous team again if we ever decide to do more work in the future. If you want a full service company that will make the remodel process easy and the end product perfect, call this team!
