DO NOT USE THIS GROUP!! They have changed their name, for what appears to be the 3rd time. The other company name is AA Best and who knows prior to that. Ronnie Donaldson is NOT TO BE TRUSTED. He is now D'S & Sons or part of the company with family. This company didn't exist in the Caldwell area in May when I was searching for asphalt work. Ronnie Donaldson is now associated with D'S & answered the phone when I called on 7/25. Imagine my surprise when he answered and I told him I was looking for someone to fix his work. He became defensive and again won't fix his work. He promises the moon & warranty & DOES NOT DELIVER. Don't just take my word, please read all other reviews on AA Best and save yourself money and headaches. He was given very clear instructions that I typed up in a text and he agreed to before I hired him. He knew the pad had to be level and the back would have to be built up to be level. He didn't use a fill for build up or stabilization of the asphalt, he didn't put down even 1 to 2 inches of asphalt, (he said there would be 2.5 to 3" minimum on entire area), on almost 1/2 of a 30' X 45'+ area, he didn't make the pad level as agreed as the back, that was suppose to be level with front, was almost 4 to 5" lower than the front. When I told him this wouldn't work and that the back wasn't even with front, as per our agreement, and had to be level for the storage unit and carport frame - he told me he would have to go get another load of asphalt that would cost extra (of course). I reminded him that we had an agreement that included the build up of the back area. It's a good thing I did not pay him up front. I agreed to pay half of the additional asphalt because I needed the job done right. The pad is still not level with proper drain off. After a week of driving on it (YES a WEEK) there were bald spots down to the dirt in several areas, major tire indentions in many areas of what should be a packed pad, areas with pot holes from backing out, and water standing across much of the front area where there is approximately only 1 to 2 inches of asphalt laid. SIGH. We were told not to park on it for 48 hours but we waited for 5+ days (more on back with extra load of asphalt) because it was so soft and gave way when walking on it so we were still reluctant to drive or park on it. After the 5 days, we thought maybe it would help to drive on it to compact it more... Nope. Not in some areas. I have called him repeatedly, sent him pictures and no response. His wife finally called when I threatened to post pictures, reviews and file a small claims suit. She said they would come out when Ronnie was back on 5/24. I sent a text on 5/25 and he agreed to come out that day or the next. Well its 5/30 and no show and no follow-up to my texts. I talked to a referral of his before hiring him. He is a reputable flooring business owner that I checked out to make sure he was legit and reputable. He used AABest and had to have them back out to repair but he did go back and repair it. So, I decided to use AA based on his referral. BAD idea. One good referral doesn't make up for so many that he has done a poor job and doesn't respond to fix it. He does not live up to his word. His warranty means absolutely nothing as it is as useless as his word. For those that check reviews prior to using a business, take it from me and many others on here that his price, BIG promises, and initial go getter attitude is nothing but a front to get the job, do a horrible job, charge you more money, take the money and run. I told him we had 2 more jobs, bigger than this one, so he had an incentive to do well. I told him that I was aware that he had bad reviews but would give him a shot to live up to his word and would give him a good review IF he did well. I guess he is okay to run a business with a "F" grade with the BBB. His son runs another asphalt business in the Palestine area. Be sure to check reviews there as well as Ronnie said he trained him. Note that one of the 5 star reviews he has is from a family member defending their name based on a 1 star review and someone calling all of his family crook. I hope this saves others from using a less than credible company. The reality is that he could have avoided all of this with a follow-up phone call, timely plan, and following through to fix problems timely.
