Due to packed weekend schedule, I was out looking for something to eat. In Koreatown, that…read moreshouldn't be an issue but when your craving something to grab and go, the options are quite limited. I have been eyeing Yama for quite a while and this past Monday, I was able to find the time to go! Yama Sushi Marketplace reminds of stepping into a Japanese Grocery store. Snacks lined the center of the store, while hot food, pre-packed sushi line the wall. There is also a traditional counter on the right for sashimi and fresh fish cuts. Let's talk food, I got some assorted Nigiri ($11), Salmon Nigiri ($11), some 2 packs of Chicken Yakitori 2 Skewers per pack ($4/pack), tea, and soda. It all came out to $40. Though I don't normally like to pay that much for lunch, I didn't regret it one bit. The sushi tasted so good and fresh, while the skewers were hot and meat tender. Paired with the soda it make my lunch such a nice treat. Parking can be found for free in the facility located in the back and underground. When I visited, there was a lot of parking so no issues there. If you would like to eat there, there are some small tables set up outside for you to enjoy your food. I will definitely come back again as they do have bento options, which after this last visit makes me want to be a regular. Cheers!

Was actually looking for a seafood restaurant but after seeing…read moreand sampling what they had, we ended up grabbing some fish to go and finding a spot with a view to have lunch. I had the candy salmon and sriracha poke. Both were fresh and absolutely delicious! My friend also got us a tray of shrimp cocktail. All of the food was great! And the young man that told us about the salmon and how it's all smoked in house, was knowledgeable and helpful. I don't come around to this side of town at all but should I ever find myself there again, will definitely return.

In the delicacies department, I'm definitely an adventurous eater. I've indulged in my fair share…read moreof cultural delicacies - Kobe beef, caviar, uni, cuy, tripe, haggis, rattlesnake, shark fin soup, and drunken worms at the bottom of a tequila bottle. Most of these dishes are easier to find while traveling through exotic regions. Now when I'm home in LA and dining at a French restaurant, I ritualistically order escargot with my bordeaux. Subconsciously, I love the way those two rhyme and how well they go with freshly churned French butter and crusty bread. And ever since Cafe Beaujolais in Eagle Rock permanently closed their doors a few years ago, I've been missing my go-to dish served with crusty bread and an authentic accent. Sure, I've eaten at Monsieur Marcel many times and many years ago, but this stroll through the Farmer's Market opened my eyes to something I never noticed before - escargot on ice. Yes, I got giddy. TAKE HOME & BAKE 225℉ for 10 minutes. It's that simple. The service counter was helpful & clean so I felt like I was in good hands. Truth be told, I don't think I've enjoyed escargot this fresh before. Not even in Paris! Perhaps it's the way they're prepared or just that they're top-notch in quality, but the snails were delicately soft and not one bit rubbery. The buttery garlic filling was muah, délicieux. On your way out, don't forget to swing by Michelina Los Angeles for fresh, crusty French bread to sop up all that garlicky-buttery yumminess. WHAT A DEAL Just $1.89/each. If it wasn't for the calorie content of the butter, I'd probably order a full dozen all for myself. I'll have to give their caviar, bay shrimps, and snow crab claws a try next time. I'm sure they're worth their price in terms of freshness. FUN FACT Although Monsieur Marcel serves New Orleans Shrimp, if you're an adventurous eater looking for Frog Legs, you'll need to go to The Gumbo Pot at the other side of the Farmer's Market for that particular Nawlins delicacy. Personally, I'd recommend you take home the escargot first.
