I bought a clock like one my mother had. It is beautiful, mint condition. Plus, it works! Fairly priced and smooth transaction.

I just wanted to concur with the earlier reviews, to ensure that a recent review shows the same behavior. In my case I came in with my partner and adult child. First thing I notice about this place was a giant sign indicating "ADULTS ONLY." Of course I'm going to find this intriguing - do they sell antique dildos? Pornographic lithographs? What is an "adult" antique store? I had to know. Sadly the owners didn't get the desired response from the initial rudeness like the others noted - no greeting, following, glaring, and thus ratcheted up to a comically dramatic degree. Soon the real attraction was the owners and how exaggerated their gestures of disdain could get, just by acting oblivious to it. So I naturally lingered a while looking at the cuckoo clocks, watches and useless high sticker-price furnishings. The wares are fine and I suppose you're expected to haggle but the prices were pretty ridiculously marked up. Like the kind of markup that seems intended to repel people who actually get antiques and know what shit really costs. I spend a lot of time antiquing and while the owners may think they're exuding an air of snobbishness, their attitude reflects nothing but their own misery. The best stores are operated by people with an eye for style, history and workmanship. There's a playfulness and creativity to decorating with antiques. There's discussion about how to incorporate a piece you fell in love with into your existing décor. This is not that kind of place. This is the kind of place where you get a thing to say "I spent [insert figure here] for that [whatever purely ornamental thing]," then maybe throw in that you're starting to get bored with it. At one point I saw something my ADULT child would like but she had gotten away from me so I took out my phone to tell her to come look. As soon as my fingers touched the device in my pocket the formerly female proprietor shrieks "WHAT PART OF NO PICTURES DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND!?!?!?" Now, I had no intention of taking pictures. I respect businesses' rules. But on this day I was on a mission to see how badly I could make one terrible person lose her shit. I replied by taking a picture. Then another. Enjoy. read more

My husband and I visited the lovely town of Weston, VT, today. We had a wonderful visit with the exception of the Drury House Antiques. We had our Standard Poodle with us, so we took turns going into each of the places we wanted to visit. One of us sat outside while the other went in to visit and then we switched so the other could go in. We saw the antiques building and it looked beautiful and inviting. We were walking up the flower lined path to the building when I saw a woman in the side yard tending her garden. She looked at me, scowled and yelled at me "That dog had better not pee on my antiques again!" I was shocked!! I couldn't even respond at first. We have NEVER been to this venue before today. I had no intention of taking my dog inside. I quickly realized that she had to be one of the owners, and the second thought I had was, if this is the way that she greets customers, there is a big problem here. I told her that I had never been to her business before so my dog could not have ever peed on her antiques. He is a certified therapy dog and knows how to behave in public and private. I told her that we were leaving and that she lost a sale as we most certainly would have found something to buy. My husband then went to the Historical Society across the street. While there he mentioned our encounter with the owner of Drury House Antiques. Their immediate reply was "They're not very friendly, are they?" This says a whole lot about your business when the locals know that you are not friendly to the public and hurt the reputation of the town. No stars; nothing good to say. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews and it's a bit low for a couple each give a 1 star. I had a wonderful experience with this store, and ordered a beautiful nouveau lamp which was very carefully packaged and promptly sent. FedEx managed to damage it slightly, and Drury was extremely responsive and helpful in filing a claim. At all times both proprietors were polite, pleasant, and professional, and they have an excellent selection of antiques. I couldn't be more happy. read more

Our experience was a little different than the other reviews here. We came on a Saturday afternoon, quickly browsed the garage (see photos) and then the main house (sign said no pictures). The main house has a lot of nice furniture and a TON of clocks. Things were - generally speaking - north of our budget...but some deals to be had. We spoke with the owner for a while - he did not follow us around, he did not glare at as (as the other reviews state) - he was very kind, professional. We talked about other antique shops, flea markets, even farm stands and restaurants. We would definitely return next time we have some cash to burn. read more

My wife and I were visiting the beautiful town of Weston Vt. We love browsing antique stores so when we saw the open flag at this house we decided to stop in. We looked at some items on the porch and as we entered the main house a woman whom we presume was the owner came from the yard and followed us in. I said "Hello" and was surprised when she said nothing back but simply stared at us while we looked through more items. She actually followed us through the house like we were potential thieves! Never saying a word but glaring at us. We thought this was very rude and quickly left. We said "Thank You" as we left and she once again said nothing. As we walked away we saw another couple head into the house and be followed in by a man. We headed to the B&B we were staying and later went to the outside patio for a glass of wine. As we walked in we saw the couple who we had seen at the antique store who were followed inside the store. We found that they had the same rude treatment we had experienced. They deserve ZERO stars! Please don't give the owners of this antique store any business unless you enjoy rude treatment. read more

My husband & I never even made it into the shop, we were so turned off by the nasty & unwelcoming behavior of the man painting outside. After a cursory look at the overpriced merchandise in the garage we quickly left to enjoy the rest of lovely Weston. I have no time or patience for being treated with disdain by any shop owner. I am an antiques dealer myself and might have bought a few things or just enjoyed a quick chat with the owner(s) but that was not to be. If there were 0 stars, I would give it. I was shopping this store on www.rubylane.com. I was interested in a print that they have, and I called to request more information. The woman who answered was quite rude. When I asked if she could tell me more about the print, specifically, who had reproduced it, she couldn't even wager a guess. She asked me if there was not reproducer I was looking for in particular, and I replied, "I'm not sure, just trying to determine more about the piece, do you have any ideas?" She said, "I've already said no, haven't I?" I responded that it was no wonder that they need to sell at such discounted rates online. I called back assuming that I must have spoken with a disgruntled employee and NOT the owner. WRONG. I asked to speak with one of the owners, to which a man said, "Speaking." I asked if that had been an owner that had picked up a few minutes ago. He replied that it was, to which, shocked, I responded "I can't imagine an OWNER of a business ever speaking so rudely." He said, "Why don't you go to hell?" and hung up. So, there you have it. No wonder everything on their Ruby Lane shop is drastically discounted, and no wonder they have such poor reviews already on here. I had several items in my shopping cart/wish list from them, and promptly removed each one. Don't waste your time. YUCK. read more

We had the most uncomfortable experience last weekend when stopped by drury house to browse and shop. ( there was a large open sign flag on the front of the building) We were looking through books and magazines that were set on display in an open garage space, choosing items to purchase when the owner came up behind us and asked us what we were doing. We said we were choosing items to buy. He then told us that," this is not a lending library.". He continued by saying ..."I know people like you...". we let him know we were planning to come inside to look at some furniture. He then said he was NOT open! We saw the "adults only" sign, so my husband, who knows and loves antiques, went in while I stayed in the parking lot with our son. Anticipating a long visit, I reorganized our car a little bit, moving a couple of bags and suitcases around to make more space. My husband quickly came out and said "let's get out of here, this place is weird." I stuffed everything back in as best as I could and got in the car. "She's looking at us", said my husband. Sure enough, the owner was glaring at us. She kept glaring and following us with her eyes as we drove out of the parking lot and around the building. During a trip to the beautiful, welcoming little town of Weston, VT we stopped at Drury House Antiques. The owners were cold and creepy, not saying a word and following us around like we were shoplifters, watching our every move. Their collection was impressive, but we were so uncomfortable because of their behavior that we took just a cursory look and got out of there as quickly as we could. Miserable, disgusting, nasty owner. We were 4 adults shopping on a Saturday. My partner and I own 3 houses and are furnishing our most recent purchase - an antique farm house. Once we entered the store the owner came to the front of the shop and just glared at us; no hello, no greeting. We were all uncomfortable and made our way around the store quickly so we could leave. Our friend very nicely commented how beautiful his collection is, to which he commented something about clients in Singapore who actually appreciate and can afford real antiques. My friend said "well, at least I do appreciate them," meaning the prices were out of her range, to which he said "yeah, just like all the other people who trump through here." My husband and I have been in the antique business for over 10 years and for the very first time in that period I find myself writing a bad review. They may have great inventory at affordable prices - if your lucky enough to be able to get in and look at it. We were travelling with our 12 year old grandson. We stopped in this quaint town and were finding everyone friendly and helpful until we came to this store. There is a huge sign on the outside stating "absolutely no children" ADULTS ONLY. We went to go in side to inquire if it would be ok to bring our 12 year old grandson in when we heard from the porch "can't you read, it says no children". The tone alone was so negative, that we started to leave and told her we were going to inquire as to what she considers a child because I pay adult prices for my grandson. She did not answer my question but continued to yell and berate us. At this time, her husband came over and stated, if you have anything to say, you say it to me. As we were walking away, they continued to yell at us and said we should be embarrased at OUR behavior in front of our grandson. I'll readily admit I turned and stated that she was the one who created the problem. We then went across the street to a general store where we were recalling the situation with the clerk. That young man told us "that lady is always yelling" She likes to yell. I would strongly recommend by passing this experience. read more

BUYER BEWARE! What a rip-off. I would give negative stars if I could. I bought an antique clock from them on line. They failed to package it properly and the clock face was smashed on arrival. Instead of providing customer service, they left it all up to me to schlep the clock and the packaging to the post office and to file the claim. They refused to do anything to help with what was obviously their fault. I still have not received any compensation for the damages. I wish I had read the other reviews before making my purchase. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. BUY FROM THEM AT YOUR PERIL! read more
