Along with the gracioius donations and heavy sponsorship, runners raised (at the time of this writing) upwards of $59,000. That's big time! And that's what great about getting involved. I mean, you don't have to actually run. You can walk. You can jog. You can "wog," if you like. But the point is that you are getting some exercise, and you're doing it for a worthy cause. (Running for charity is tax deductible, by the way.) Like I said: you could, of course, run. I did. In fact, this chip-timed 10K was my fastest to date: 1:04:44.6. However, there were many others who took a more relaxed approach: they walked, took their time. And on this morning here in Culver City, it was a beautiful morning to do just that. By the time that the 5K began at 8:00am (and the 10K a half hour later) the sun was already shining down upon the Washington Blvd. course, and the temperature was just pushing the upper 60's as runners took their marks. This out-and-back course is flat and fast, and the 10K is a double loop. Generally, I don't favor loops (I prefer scenic stretches) but the run is fun, and it's certainly social: over 1,200 devoted, shoe-laced participants registered, and hundreds of applauding spectators were there in support. Great 5k and 10k running events (5 stars)…read more The Culver City 5k and 10k events were in its second annual event to raise funds for Train 4 Autism and the Education Foundation for the Culver City schools. -Registration online was quick -Donations were welcomed -Confirmation was quick -Email information was convenient -Facebook info was very nice -Website was really really good with lots of useful information -Morning event was memorable -Bib pick-up was easy -Port-a-Potties centrally located -Pre-race entertainment was fun -Mayor's speech was a little dodgy, but what do you expect from a politician who doesn't run? -Start time was ON TIME for the 5k -Got back just in time for the 10k ON TIME start -5k route was flat and easy and did it in 25:44 -10k route was 2 loops and i ran with friends -Lots of cool runners -Finisher's medal was cute, and I got 2 I really loved this event since it reminds me of a small town feel with about 400 runners. Oh, after I ran both events, and got my two medals, one of the ladies gave me a strange look and asked why I had 2 medals. I told her that I had run both event and showed her both bibs - ha! ha! ha! I definitely would return next year for the 3rd annual Culver City 5k and 10k runs, and run both.

Darth Vader... really?? ok, sure.. why not! **if you've participated in an Awesome 80s Run event before, then you know their medals are made with quality and pure awesomness!** This time i opted to participate in the run closer to home... Pasadena, CA. the location was perfect... Rose Bowl loop, a trail i was familiar with. the pasadena run didn't seem as big as last year's SF run... Getting to the venue was smooth... no traffic (we arrived around 7:30am) and parking was a breeze. Although, parking is $10... wish they can include this in the registration fee so participants don't feel obligated to incur anymore cost. the course was ideal... loop around the rose bowl. plenty of space for runners and walkers to share the road. thankfully it was early enough in the day that it wasn't too hot. there was a slight breeze during some areas of the course that helped out greatly. there were a couple bands along the route to boost the 80s spirits... good times! costumes were entertaining. i was a Rogue Squadron pilot and my bf was a Stormtrooper. we saw many star wars themed costumes... very awesome... as well as other 80s related costumes. great seeing everyone's creativity and spirit come together!

It's a themed fun run so expect a ton of people walking, pushing strollers, & walking dogs on the course. The event is fun if you're doing it with a group of friends & taking pictures with other people & their costumes but as fair as a race there could be some improvements. Since the course goes around the rosebowl/golf course it would be better to start the 5k first so you don't get stuck trying to go around more people that are walking during the 10k, & starting the race on time. The 10k was suppose to be at 8:15 am, & the 5k at 8:30. We went to line up for the 5k and the 10k was still waiting to go. Both races were started 15 minutes behind schedule. The race packet pick up was pretty easy the day of the race they gave well over an hour before the races started for everyone to get their bibs that couldn't make it out to Pasadena the Friday before the race. They have chipped timing now, at the end of the race you return the time chip from your shoe for your finishers medal. Besides the late start of the race & trying to go around all the walkers during the race the only other problem was trying to get out of the parking lot. The race course go around the parking lot so if you're trying to leave while the race is still going to wait for about 20 minutes. If the medal for next year is cool enough & my friends want to run it again I'd probably do the race again. One of the cool things about this event is they don't have periods where they continue to raise the price of the race. It's the same price until it sells out & they have a lot of different promo codes that you can use to save $3-$10 on registration.

There are plenty of clean porta pottys and water along the route. The route is mostly road but there are some trails after the 1 mile and there are hills. You start at Dodgers stadium, go around Elysian park and end back at the stadium.

So I would say from the walk it was a very nice route a little hilly here and there but not anything too wild. The only thing that is wild is the parking if you decide to sleep in and try to get to the dodger stadium around 530-6am and after just sacrifice and come early and sleep in your car!

That's all it took when I saw the flyer for the LA River Greenway 2020 10K at Golden Road Brewery. $50 felt kinda steep for a 10K, but supporting the LA River Revitalization effort (come on LA, let's do this!!!) while running the jogging path from my old Los Feliz days and cracking a beer at the end eliminated the need to ask any more questions. To sum it up... best 10K EVER!!! I loved it. Every second. The run was pretty... starting near the zoo, the first part was along the 5 Fwy, which sucked but that's LA for ya. We then looped back on the North side of the river to finish at Golden Road Brewery. I liked the part running through the neighborhoods too... a ton of residents were out on the curb cheering us on or glaring at us to hurry up so the streets could reopen. (I do think the street closures were a little excessive... the group of runners was small, so I hope that next year they'll be able to facilitate at least one-way traffic on the route for our Angelenos.) For all the schwag lovers, you will be in heaven. Logo tech-tee with vine screenprint around the side (cute!), a pint class sporting the sponsor Waiakea Water's trademark, several energy bars, organic shampoo & conditioner samples, Golden Road Brewery wayfarer-style glasses, finisher's medal, a tallboy of Golden Road beer, Waiakea Water at the finish, and a finish festival stocked with food trucks. This really was a once in a lifetime experience. We were credentialed Special Olympics volunteers…read moreand worked 4 separate dates during the World Games. We were in and around McCarthy Quad and Healthy Athletes tents and festival at USC conducting a Special Olympics Athlete Survey. In only 4 days, I met more athletes, coaches, translators, trainers, family/friends from around the globe than I ever have in any period of time during my life. It was an absolutely fantastic way of helping to collect important info from these incredible athletes. Working beside my son was so much fun, and watching his patience and ability to work with the athletes to complete the surveys brought me so much joy. Seeing how so many of the athletes were so appreciative to have their voices heard and participate in such a special, first ever to be done, survey was heartwarming. As an athlete myself having the opportunity to meet and speak with so many fascinating people from so many different countries, even despite the very obvious language barrier that presents itself when working any global event, was very rewarding. I would not take back those 4 days for anything in this world. I also believe it was such a great experience for my son to take part in during his summer vacation. Teaching our children to give back and how to make an impactful difference from a young age is extremely important. Here are some of the countries I had the pleasure of working with: Puerto Rico, Barbados, Canada, USA, Egypt, Finland, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Peru, China, Namibia, Nigeria, Spain, Denmark, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Brazil, Kenya, Dominica, Morocco and more. Out of the above listed countries I have only traveled within Canada, Spain, and Morocco so meeting so many people from so many other countries was so much fun to experience in my hometown. I'd highly, highly suggest choosing Special Olympics as a positive forum to give back to. It's such a rewarding experience and the athletes absolutely love every minute of your support, encouragement, smiles and high fives! So fortunate to have been a part of this experience.

I love Groundworks and scurried right over for a blended iced coffee. Admission- free! First time runner of the Hollywood Half/10K/5K and can't wait to run it again next year. My Dad ran…read morethis last year and loved it so much, that he made sure Jay L and I ran it with him this time around. While the 6am start time seemed a bit early, it ended up working out just fine. If anything, it kicked off a whole weekend of justified relaxation. Okay, here are the essentials: Race kicks off at Hollywood/Highland and ends at Vine between Hollywood/Sunset, so park near the latter for a fast escape. There are plenty of metered spots, so no need to deal with overpriced lots. While there are port-a-potties around the course, buy a beverage at the McDonald's on Hollywood before the race and use the restroom in relative cleanliness and comfort. While you might get all pumped up about completing the turn onto Gower, slow your roll because that extra stretch going west will humble you. Overall, enjoy the run and take in all of the costumes. Great event and can't wait to run again next year!

A few new tweaks have come for this race since 2021, the Dodgers foundation has changed it to the…read moreSunset race. The 5k and 10k take place in the evening instead of the morning like the first 5 years of this event. Some of the new additions to the race is there's now a post race beer garden in the dodger stadium pavilion (you get one free beer wrist band as part of your registration). The 5k race is first followed by the 10k 1 and a 1/2 to 2 hours after the start of the 5k. They have Yoga on the field in between the 5 and 10k races (extra charge for the yoga. At the race expo in the pavilion they have a yard sale with past years race merch on sale for $5 to $20 and the dodgers gear store has merch for sale up to 20% off. So cons for the race is it's incredibly expensive, opening price for the race is now $70 and goes up to about $115 the week of the race. Also since the race is pretty much at night now it get cold hanging out at the beer garden post race so make sure you bring a jacket if you plan on hanging out. Aside from the crazy registration fee increase it's still a pretty fun event if you're here with a decent amount of friends to hang out and enjoy the event with. They also have a kids race that goes around the warning track inside the stadium so it comes full circle as a family friendly event.

When Blue October fever grips SoCal, the Dodgers Foundation hosts a Sunday…read moremorning race suite that combines the laid-back satisfaction of a Fun Run, the magic of being at Dodger Stadium, the philanthropy of raising money for a good cause, and the historical significance of Chavez Ravine. Events for the morning start with a 7:00 AM 10K through the surrounding hamlets, a 9:00 AM 5K race, and a 10:15 1K Kids Run through the parking lot. All participants receive really cool medals and a goodie bag that includes a Dodgers-themed tech shirt. The races loop from and back to the same start/finish line, at which visitors are treated to a lively race village. Lots of freebies -- Coconut water, protein shakes, slow water, nutrition bars, and various Dodgers swag. Participants can also walk a lap around the warning track inside the stadium, and linger here and there for photos or a chance to be filmed on the diamond-vision display screen. I ran the 10K this time-- the route goes around the stadium, out the Academy Rd gate, and loops through the hills, parks, and past the police academy before returning back into the parking lot complex the way you went out. You know you'll drop a few lines from the Police Academy movies... A few hills, but nothing super tough, especially considering that there are a lot of walkers. Water stations every 2 miles or so kept our whistles wet. All in all, this is a fun morning for the whole running family, and doesn't have nearly as many meat-head "super-runners" who talk/brag about little more than their last race and their next one.... just good folks who love the Dodgers and are supporting s good cause.

There was both race day packet pickup and another option the day before. On race day, there were complimentary food trucks and we had an awesome grilled cheese. The 10k started at 8:30 and the 5k was set to start at 9:30. However it was delayed a half hour due to clearing the roads. For me, 10:00am was a late start and it was already getting pretty toasty out. Overall was a great day. Only thing that I'd suggest is starting both races earlier.
