So I called a couple more places and Schmeeds popped up. Much better pricing in line with other quotes I saw online. Friendly guy on the phone so I walked in and, well, there he was. Great to talk with Pete and he said he'd get my bows over to Alex. While I was there, I listened to some instrument practices in the side rooms. Next day, Alex calls me to talk about the bows. Very detailed, concerned, wanted to make sure I was okay with the risk of rehairing a bow with cracks he saw. I appreciated the concern and we cleared things up, but it was nice to talk directly with the person handling my equipment. Fast forward... less time than I thought (2 weeks was stated), and I get the call that it's all done. I pop on over and there we are, two freshly haired bows and more friendly chat. While I was there both times, kids and adults were practicing in the various lesson rooms. What a wonderful local place to spend time and money on music.

Everyone else at Denville Music has been very sincere and flexible too, in my interactions with them. Plus, the academy is a kind of cool, quirky, warm vibe inside. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS POSSIBLE…read more I went to this music school to learn drums. I got into an accident where I broke my collar bone. I attempted to call so many times and it was impossible to get in touch with the right location and no one can help you when it comes to billing. This caused me to get dressed, while being injured, and head to this location to cancel my classes before they hit me with cancelation fees or I lost my money. We put my classes on hold because they do not offer refunds. I asked for a refund but they said when I got better I could go back and take the classes. I was in an arm slink for 3 months, when the time came that I was ok the last thing on my mind was going back to the classes. I forgot about this and then about a year later, I went to PY Rock asking if I can get a refund or take guitar lessons instead. I got told that they will contact management and get back to me. They never did. Now I went back today, another year later, to ask for a refund because they have my money for something I never used. I have stopped playing instruments as I did. They brought it up to the owner and he said because there has been so much time since he will not offer a refund. From the get the structure of how the billing is done sounded sketchy. You have to pay for the month in full but if you were to cancel your membership you have to do it prior to the first day of the month otherwise you will be charged another month before they let you cancel. Lastly, while I am rating this place with a low score, I will say that the instructors are very friendly and show that they care. This is more of an PSA on how the backend works. Not sure how effect this review will be but I sure do hope it saves someone else the headache.
