There was so much to see I didn't realize Joni Mitchell, Paul Anka, Bryan Adams , Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, The Weeknd, Neil Young ...were Canadian. The building itself is beautiful. We opted for the Haunted Pub Walk as I find spirits are most enjoyable in the company of spirits. Registering was easy and you can pay with paypal. You then need to check the calendar for any information regarding where and when to meet. We met our guide at the base of the Calgary Tower at 8:00 P.M., where true to his word, he was wearing a top hat and a cape. He started our ghost story with a tale of a workplace injury resulting in death during the construction of the Calgary Tower and offered anecdotes from "witnesses" that had felt the presence of the ghost. First off, I am on the fence about this ghost business. I want to believe, but I just can't commit to the idea of haunting. This stated, I do believe in the history that comes with the stories and found our guide to be very knowledgeable in this area. I was really happy that the tour was mostly historical peppered with the rumours of the "hauntings" The downtown haunted pub walk consists of 2 pubs where you stop in for a beverage and a few more tidbits of Calgary trivia. The general public would wander over at times during our tour to listen in and our guide was very respectful in letting them know that it was a private tour we had paid for, but they could stay for one story if they so wished. I will be signing up for another ghost tour -- hopefully the one in Inglewood. It made for an interesting educational evening and a unique date night. At $15 a person (not including your beverages), it's not unreasonable. The only suggestion I would make is to bring bug spray. And it was fun. We rode the train, rode in the wagon pulled by a tractor, went into houses, learned at the print shop and the oil well, and interacted with the actors. And of course we started at Gasoline Alley. Gasoline Alley has plenty of cars, but I was fascinated by the collection of work trucks and gasoline pumps. And there were plenty of volunteers there to explain the exhibited vehicles and ancillary items. We are an excellent lunch in the cafe.

Jobo met us at our hotel at 8 o'clock sharp and from there we spent the entire day seeing the wonders of the nearby mountains. We saw more in one day than I could have managed in three days, all without being rushed at all. It pays to have someone who is intimately familiar with the area as your guide. Although the information on the signage was more than sufficient, Jobo provided additional color regarding each of the stops. Jobo was very friendly, courteous, and it was an absolute pleasure to be in his company. The vehicle was very clean, stocked with ample water, and very well-maintained. I highly recommend ABest Transport and Tour Services Inc, and their "rider driven" philosophy, which Jobo exemplified. Jennifer called us and asked where we were and vectored the bus to pick us up along the way. Above and beyond customer service. Jennifer provided great narrative as we made ourselves around the city. This is more than a short downtown tour. We even got to go to the Olympics area west of town and have fabulous views of the Rocky Mountains. We learned about the history of Calgary and even visited the Heritage Park area. Enough time to grab coffee and Saskatoon berry ice cream. It was Stampede and we stopped at an overlook where we could see the whole grounds.
