I don't usually start a review with a complaint, but they brought me too much food and it was so hot that I had to let it cool a bit! We are on a road trip and saw this place listed on Yelp. Hmmm an eatery next to the area's livestock auction = hand cut beef! This is how beef is supposed to be served. They serve breakfast all day and it was difficult for me to pivot away. Service was great and the food came out super fast. Oh! And then there is pie! Raspberry Peach Pie warm with vanilla soft serve on top. Drovers was packed with locals, which something that I love. Drovers is the former Sale Barn Cafe in Brush and thankfully not much has changed. Delicious food, plenty of it, good variety, tasty and filling. Our party had burgers, steak, open face sandwiches and country fried steak. Save room for pie! I'm a Strawberry Rhubarb fan and I'm glad I saved room. Apple was also delicious. A hidden gem. This place is located at the bank/business center/ cattle sale barn in Brush. Had to ask someone in the parking lot if we were in the right place. Walked in and it was legit. Don't let the humble exterior fool you -- this place is great! We arrived around 1pm on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. Several waitstaff acknowledged us, which was appreciated, and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The servers kept apologizing for the wait, but they were hustling and it was super busy. Even so, it didn't take very long for our food to arrive. We were surprised by the huge portions! I had the chef salad, which was loaded with meat, eggs and fresh veggies on top of a ton of lettuce (I hate it when places skimp on lettuce so I was stoked). My companion had the chili cheeseburger with red chili. We also split an order of cheese fries with green chili -- so good! The burger could have been a bit more flavorful, but everything was good and we definitely had leftovers. The place is very casual but the humorous signs on the walls were fun to read. Best breakfast we have had in years! Sausage patties were grilled and very tasty. Eggs were made perfectly! Sausage gravy and biscuits: fuffy and delicious! Ya'll, I just found my down on the homestead good old farm style cooking right here. The name fools ya and the building as well. Sure doesn't look like a restaurant at all. These folks know how to eat beefy and cook! YUM. This little community of Brush, CO is as southern and friendly as can be. I ordered the chicken strip basket and the chicken fried steak 8oz meal. The wait time was minimal, the food was so fresh and was temperature appropriate. The chicken was very flavorable and the fries were beyond perfect. The freshness, oil used, skin on poratoe, perfect square shape and just was deliciously enjoyable. The chicken fried steak was moist and a perfect blend of flavors including the white mouth watering gravy. I was beyond full to try ny dessert but I can only imagine it to be heavenly. Allow me to first apologize, this is more of a trip down memory lane than a legitimate review! I haven't been here in over 40yrs. I was surfing and Hot Beef Commercial came up on my feed (yes, I like food!). Instantly my mind went back in time to Drovers! Best Hot Beef ever. So now I'm Googling "Drovers" and discovering this establishment is still in business! As a child, whenever we visited family in Brush this is where we went. Mind you, this was back in the '70's / early '80's. My Uncle would always check the pay phones out front for change and always complained about the "pricey" coffee, I think it was 25 cents or may have even been a dime back then! We plan on visiting CO in June, I'm making it a point to take a side trip to Drovers. I am so happy y'all are still in business!! read more

This place is a trip. So, it's located in Brush, Colorado inside a livestock exchange so just look for all the trailers and trucks, then weave your way to the restaurant. There's a bank, too, and if you see that, you're here. So, as other reviewers mentioned, it smells of livestock when you walk inside the building because the livestock auction ring is right next to the restaurant. Once inside Drovers you'll forget it's there. The clientele are ranchers and cowboys taking a break from buying cows, and the atmosphere is congenial and happy. Now on to the food: diner fare, but high quality and delicious. Their specials are homemade, their burgers are hand-pattied and grilled, and the salads are fresh. I had a patty melt with their sidewinder fries (a must) and a side salad with 1,000. Dressing was excellent. Hubs had a bacon cheeseburger and the same salad. Said all was excellent. They brew their own iced tea--regular and sweetened, and our server Kimber was a doll, giving us the skinny on how the marriage of livestock exchange, bank, restaurant, massage parlor, hair and nail salon, and a jewelry store all manage to stay happy and most definitely relevant. The place was full. If you've never experienced something like this, don't pass it up. We're going to step inside the auction ring next and maybe buy a cow. (Jk) read more

You will pull up to the restaurant and say 'WTH' out loud, as the exterior looks like a rural Missouri feed store. See attached photo. Surprised the restaurant sign didn't have bullet holes in it. 3. You will find a 'mini-mall' inside the building which has a livestock office and the 'mini-mall' smells faintly of manure. 4. There is nothing fancy about this place, it is just a typical small town greasy spoon. It is always reliable, though. You can tell by the regular crowd that's in here, in addition to the people passing through. The staff is almost always friendly, but it's a good place for a decent meal if you find yourself in the area. Not to mention decent prices. They also regularly have homemade pies. Well, we were guided by the food angels to Drovers. Quite a bit of their menu is homemade and the staff very pleasant, funny and knowledgeable of the dishes. Biscuits and gravy according to my son were excellent. I had the chicken noodle soup to start--just what the doctor ordered! Had the grilled hot dog with homemade chili, fries. This put a smile on my face, nice spices flavoring the chili with Omaha beef. The fries tasted like they used to, think sentimentally of Micky D's growing up.
