Took my son to Drivers Educational School today to get his drivers test done. They do drivers testing by walk-in "first come first served". We arrived and was immediately assisted to get to process started. After a few questions and some paperwork he was on his way to drive. Note: you can test driving your vehicle or theirs. My son drove his car. He was back within about 15-20 minutes. Super easy and accommodating. There's also a DMV services in the same building so we could walk around the corner and get the actual license taken care of after the test. You'll pay a convenience fee but so worth it! Would recommend this business to anyone needing testing or instruction. They also do fingerprinting if you need that too. read more

Used to be an amazing place, now it's a shit show. I had classes here when I was in high school 6 years ago. I drove with 3 different instructors, the owner, and took my test with a different instructor. Usually it's just 1 instructor the whole time, but I'd say I had the best learning experience and fun from each person. All knowledgeable. Today I go and drop off my wife to take the driving class since her CP makes it difficult to teach her and to save money on insurance. 800 dollars for the 8 hour video class, a week driving, and then the test. All of this is fine except for the part where a man in a beard bitches me out for being in a handicapped spot for 4-5 minutes, was rude about it, and even his second sentence was," I have no problem calling the cops to give you that 500 dollar fine." My wife explains in just dropping her off and she's just about to get out the car, and the man says he doesn't care. If the dmv wasn't closed I would've cancelled that class in a heart beat. Let it be known that there's 3 parking spots in front of this place, 2. Being handicapped. The other handicapped spot was the better spot and open. And yes I did move and didn't argue him. Guy is a piece of work. He has a white beard and a hat. Smokes right outside the door and came up without a mask. If you have him, good luck bruh. read more

I took my driver's test here because the DMV won't do the test if you have the check engine light on which makes sense. anyway they let me take it here and first off their price was ridiculously overprice especially when they failed me over tiny details that I personally believe I didn't do wrong. Example I was at a stop sign turning left and I pulled up a little so I could actually see oncoming traffic past the snowbank and got dinged. second example I was driving through a round about and slowed down a little bit because there was another car who didn't yield and was dinged for "stopping in the round about" Third example I was exiting the highway and the exit had a limit of 40mph so I slowed down to that speed and boom was dinged again. In fact the only thing I was legitimately dinged for was the parallel parking. in conclusion This place only wants your money and I believe will search for any way to fail you. I would recommend taking the time to make an appointment at the DMV only Paying 15$ (but make sure your car meets all the requirements before you pay though) . instead of going to a place that only wants your money. read more

Hands down one of the best places to take a driving test. Yes the price is a little high but when they can get you in sooner than most places and the staff is great it's worth the price. I have taken some family members that have passed on their first try and some that haven't and completely agree with their decision. For as long as they are open I will always recommend people there specially young adults because the staff is great to them and it makes the test taking process more easier than the dmv. read more

I signed up for the instructors class, driving practice and the drivers test. The instructor class was really helpful, it taught me things I didn't know about and those things now are common sense to me. The driving practice was very very helpful. My instructor was Nicole and I felt so comfortable with her because she was helpful by giving advice and really kind too. And for the drivers road test I didn't get his name but he was very helpful after taking the test buy giving pointers on how I can improve. Overall great experience, 10/10! read more

Probably one of the better driving schools in Anchorage. My 15 year old daughter was able to do her very first on the road driving with their instructor (after doing the 8 hr. class) and now feels confident and enthusiastic about driving, which is a huge plus as we weren't sure how this was going to go. ONE ISSUE: On DAY 1 of driving, they will take your student to Girdwood on the Seward Highway unless your student lives on the north or east side of town, then your student will head out on the Glenn Hwy. On the day they took my daughter for her FIRST driving lesson of her life, there was a double fatality collision just south of GIrdwood. So here's why they should not take kids down the Seward Hwy on their first day. 1. It's dangerous for everyone, let alone a first day driver in an unfamiliar car. 2. The Seward Hwy is an undivided, unbarricaded two lane road with high opposing speeds for oncoming traffic. The road itself is mericiless when it comes to inattentive drivers, sleepy or otherwise impaired drivers, and reckless drivers who take chances passing in areas where maybe they didn't have enough room to complete the pass safely. Lots of people die every year on this highway. 3. It would only take a few extra minutes to take their student to the Glenn highway to accomplish Day 1 driving goals. Conclusion: Good school, worth the money, have newer cars all with right side brake pedal, ask about their Day 1 driving plan if it's an issue with you and request to not take them on the Seward Hwy. I'll take my next two kids here, but if they refuse my "no Seward Hwy" request, I'll cancel and go somewhere else. read more

I had been practicing driving for so long and I was very excited to finally aquire my license. I walked in so nervous. I used their walk in drivers test service. No wait. The man at the counter was very friendly and helped me relax. He gave me many helpful tips and some water. I met my proctor Ben. He was incredible. Super friendly. He could tell I was tense and quickly destroyed my fears. He was super amiable and helpful. He talked me through the whole test and made sure I knew where I was going and all the maneuvers I had to perform. My first try I passed. I would recommend this highly to everyone. Especially Ben. I am completely dissatisifed with my service here. Many people recommended AA's, so I was surprised the people were so disagreeable. I was clearly told I had "three attempts or three minutes to park the car" so after my first attempt at paralell parking (I admit, I was sticking out about 3 inches) I put it in park for the grader to judge me. She said I was sticking out, and then said I failed the entire test, because I put the car in park and was thus breaking a traffic law. At no point was it communicated to me that all three of my attempts had to be WITHOUT parking the car. I paid $70 dollars for a full 15-20 minute road exam and I was not even allowed to continue the test, it was over in about 3 minutes. I went inside to explain to the lady at the desk that I felt the lack of communication was a bit unfair, and she just gave me a very rehearsed response and directed me to the DMV manual, which she couldn't even produce for me. Overall the service was very unhelpful, and I just feel like the ripped me off on a communication error and technicality. "Three attempts to park the car" means I should be allowed to put it in park. read more

Literally just finished getting my driver's license after taking the road test this afternoon. I took it the first time, but I knew I failed it, so after 7 days I went back and I passed. Examiners are very confident with their job and are awesome at making me feel comfortable with my road test. The first examiner had taught me some very important pointers for the second time I took the test. I would most definitely recommend it to other people. Had a Horrible Experience Here - I Would Never Recommend This Place To Anyone. I Was OK With Failing My Exam Although I Truly Believe I Was Robbed. Examiner Stated I Ran A Red Light. In My Defence I Crossed the Double Pedestrian White Lines N Was in the Middle Of The Intersection, Light Turned Red When I Turned. Examiner was debating with me until the office manager jumped in and stated I was wrong without even being in the car. I explained my situation to which she states "we have trained professionals here and you don't know what your talking about". I got pissed and said "I'm done". She then thru me out saying accidents happen from people like me, and she wasn't gonna give a license to a reckless driver. I'm so disappointed in their professionalism. read more

These guys are just after your money. The entire atmosphere is cold and sketchy and the instructor will fail you for the smallest things. The gentleman at the desk even lied to me about the driving rules (he said it was a three strike system, but it was really a 1 strike system). at the end of it all I wasn't mad that I failed, I was mad because my experience felt hollow and soulless, it felt like I threw away my money. Took my road test here this morning after a horrible, disheartening experience at the Benson DMV. A coworker recommended this place to me and had a lot of great things to say about it. I was worried about paying $70 for the test but even through the phone the school felt very friendly. There's a spot in the UAA parking lot area with cones to practice parallel parking, which I did for a few days prior to the test. I took my road test with Gwen, who was very friendly and calm, and put my nerves at ease. I had no wait and we did the road test, and I got a perfect score and felt confident the entire time. I'm very happy with my experience at this school and will recommend it to anyone looking for a place. I like how to school is open later and on Saturdays, which is very accommodating to those of us working normal hours. The road tests are also walk in which is awesome. Practice the parallel parking at the cones and be confident. The course/route they use is very easy and not "tricky". read more

in an effort to avoid the horror show of the dmv, I took a kid here for a road test. $70 seemed like a small price to pay to stay away from the dmv. to be clear, the testing part was fine. he passed the test and we went to get the license. the problem? we were not told that the test scores only work at the actual dmv, not independent offices. we went to des 3 times in 3 days and they still didn't tell us that their testing only applies at the dmv. des STILL has not told us that we would end up at the dmv we finally spent an hour at the dmv to get the license. so $70 and we still ended up at the dmv. des won't tell you but I will--- DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO AVOID THE DMV. True this school is only after your money! I saw them fail people after people on the smallest things...the correct way to examine someone is to give them a score during the test but what they did was writing a score after the test was finished! How would u remember what happened during the test. So this person Gwen didn't take notes during the test...then completely forgot what exactly happened...and made it all up to give a score later to fail...completely unethical! This driving institute should b sued for taking people's money just cuz dmv is too busy to take the test...failing is not a problem one always learns something but failing on no grounds is completely unethical!! roads are icy so if u are within ten miles below the actual speed that's cautious driving! But no these jerks gave it a 8... If someone wants to see how scoring is done please review the online score sheet...it's on Google...there is nothing to hide on the score sheet...but they were trying to hide that too! They said there were no signals given during parallel parking which was totally untrue cuz u didn't take notes during the test the examiner forgot what actually happened...also if someone took only one attempt they said oh you took two...your cones are on ice for heavens sake..either clean that street for the student driver...cuz the car would skid if they did it in a hurry...so they gave it a 8 again...n they would try to make your score 24 cuz 24 and above is fail read more
